Paris Hilton has apologized for the comments she made about gay men this week.

A cab driver secretly recorded Hilton talking to gay friend about the website Grindr. Paris called gay men disgusting, horny and most likely infected with AIDS.

Whatever the context, she didn't sound very good, to say the least.

In a letter to GLAAD, Paris Hilton issued a full apology and explanation, praising the gay community as the strongest and most inspiring group she knows.

"I am so sorry and so upset that I caused pain to my gay friends, fans and their families with the comments heard this morning," the heiress writes.

"I was having a private conversation with a friend of mine who is gay and our conversation was in no way towards the entire gay community."

"It is the last thing that I would ever want to do and I cannot put into words how much I wish I could take back every word."

"Gay people are the strongest and most inspiring people I know. Again, I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart and I feel absolutely horrible. I hope that everyone can accept my apology and know that it is not who I am or how I feel in any way."

Apology accepted? You tell us.

Grindr responded earlier to Paris' controversial comments, saying they're surprised she hasn't heard of the site, and questioning her taste in men.

The popular gay men's social network / meetup site referenced in Paris Hilton's anti-gay comments has Tweeted a response ... and it's pretty hilarious.

If you missed it, Paris was secretly recorded in a cab with a gay male friend, going off on how gays are horny, disgusting and probably AIDS infected.

Seriously. In context, she was referring only to those who use Grindr.

Grindr tweeted at her after the clip leaked, writing, "Frankly, we're surprised that you hadn't heard about Grindr sooner, given some of the guys you date."

The site then links, amusingly, to a similar version of this photo:

This would be Paris and her ex-boyfriend Doug Reinhardt at a 2009 costume party, with Doug dressed like a ... we don't even know, but well played, Grindr.

Paris Hilton's exact quote about Grindr was that "Gay guys are the horniest people in the world ... they're disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS."

No word if Grindr also plans on linking to pics of Paris Hilton and Stavros Niarchos.

Paris Hilton is under fire for some comments she made about gay men, claiming they are horny disgusting and "dude, most of them probably have AIDS."

The comments were made September 7 in New York, TMZ reports, in a taxi cab ride when (Hilton's team claims) the driver secretly recorded the audio below.

Paris was allegedly having a conversation with a gay friend at time time. The friend brought up Grindr, a popular social website frequented by gay men.

Hilton's response below (audio excerpt is hard to hear):

"Ewwww ... gay guys are the horniest people in the world. Most of them probably have AIDS ... I would be so scared if I was a gay guy ... you'll like die of AIDS."

The horniest people in the world, ladies and gentlemen. Not generalizing at all.

Hilton's rep immediately released a statement trying to explain this, claiming:

"Paris Hilton is a huge supporter of the gay community and would never purposefully make any negative statements about anyone’s sexual orientation.”

"Paris Hilton’s comments were to express that it is dangerous for anyone to have unprotected sex that could lead to a life threatening disease."

"The conversation became heated after a close gay friend told her in a cab, a story about a gay man who has AIDS and is knowingly having unprotected sex. He also discussed a website that encourages random sex by gay men with strangers."

"Her comments were in reference to those people promoting themselves on the site. The cab driver who recorded this, only provided a portion of the conversation."

"It was not her intent to make any derogatory comments about all gays."

You buying that? Let us know in the comment section below.

Paris Hilton is still alive! And posing with no top for the men of Russia!

Fashion maven Ellen Von Unwerth snapped a spread for that nation's edition of GQ, with the once-ubiquitous, now largely-irrelevant Hilton in all her trashy glory. And sometimes lingerie. Good times all around in Russia right now.

Check out a couple of HOT (or not) Paris Hilton pics:

  • Paris Hilton Topless
  • Sexy Paris Hilton

As for what Paris is up to since being displaced by Kim Kardashian as the queen of being famous for nothing, she's DJing, working on an album and stuff.

Beyond that, who honestly knows anymore.

If nothing else, girl looks great at 31. With the 10-year anniversary of the Paris Hilton sex tape coming up, she's gotta keep that body toned and tight.

Paris is totes still worthy of a drunk text.

Paris Hilton's mystery man has just been revealed!

In related news, Paris Hilton has a mystery man.

According to recent reports, the socialite / reality star / aspiring DJ was spotted at famously expensive club Les Caves du Roy in St. Tropez, France, chatting all night with South African artist Conor McCreedy. Here's a pic of them:

Conor McCreedy, Paris Hilton

Seen here pictured here looking close at the exclusive club, Paris was even seen planting a kiss on the artist's cheek. Breaking news, we know.

In May Paris was dumped by Afrojack. Prior to that, she was in a long-term relationship with Vegas businessman Cy Waits. Prior to that, we kinda forget.

Anyway, yeah. You're caught up on Paris.

Paris Hilton and DJ Afrojack have broken up after dating for six months ... In other news, Paris Hilton and Afrojack were apparently dating for like six months.

Says a source close to the random, now-former couple:

"Afrojack had moved into Paris' Beverly Hills mansion earlier this year, and they got serious, very fast ... Paris was really into him and admires his work."

"Afrojack did a lot of the work on Paris' new album  ... He took a lot of criticism for working with her, but he truly does believe that she has talent."

Paris Hilton, Afrojack

"Paris was smitten with him, but Afrojack just wanted to have fun and not be exclusive with anyone. He is on the road practically every day performing in clubs all over the world, and just isn't ready to settle down, whereas Paris is."

Paris is likely to take her recent breakup hard, pals say.

"Paris is having a hard time adjusting to the fact that she just doesn't have the popularity or cachet that she did five years ago," says one confidant.

"Paris obviously has tons of money, but that isn't enough for her. Look, she is still going to clubs on a very frequent basis and she is 31 years old ... You don't see a lot of people over 30 going to clubs, it's almost sad to see."

Seriously. Even John Mayer called it a clubbing career and moved to Montana.

Paris Hilton might not want to quit her day job ... whatever that is.

Even with THG plugging it, her Oxygen reality show was canceled for abysmal ratings. You know it's bad when that happens. Now the former reality TV star decided to focus all her "career comeback" efforts on releasing a second album.

Breath? Probably shouldn't be held.

Paris Whitney Hilton

As we previously reported, Paris and Kim Kardashian are "cool" with each other ... on the surface. But she still can't believe her one-time BFF's level of fame.

After all, Paris wrote the book on getting railed on tape and turning it into nonstop celebrity gossip attention and millions of dollars. Kim just did her one better.

Or five, or 10 better. In any case, Kim is all the rage these days, while Paris' first album sold only 197,000 copies at the PEAK of her popularity in 2006.

Think the second one's going to do better?

Finally. We call all exhale. The long national nightmare is over.

With both Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton in Cannes last week for that city's annual film festival - hey, each got her big break in a movie, right? - insiders confirm to The New York Post that these best-friends-turned-less-than-best-friends buried the hatchet that apparently existed for years.

Kardashian and Hilton "hugged, smiled and chatted for a while" at the amfAR gala on Thursday, a witness claims, adding: “They really have no problem with each other."

So let's create one, shall we? Vote below on the following pressing topic: With which former sex tape stars would you rather film a home video?

And the Winner is?

Two women. Zero talent between them. Would you rather have intercourse with Kim Kardashian or Paris Hilton? View Poll »

He's one of the most talented actors alive, as well as a member of the Saturday Night Live hosting pantheon. In short: Jon Hamm ruled long before he spoke to Great Britain's Elle magazine.

In the latest issue, though, the Mad Men star says exactly what anyone with an IQ over 12 is thinking: why do so many people care about Kim Kardashian and other reality stars?!?

"We're at a place where the idea of being 'elite' is somehow considered a negative," Hamm says. "Whether it's Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated. Being a f-cking idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you're rewarded significantly... It doesn't make sense to me."

Mad Men premieres season five on March 25. Let's hope Hamm's rant just earned the tremendous show an even bigger following.

What do you get when you combine a bored, former A-list socialite with insightful tales of cell phone indiscretion and below-average techno beats?

A song and music video that must be heard/seen to be believed.

We present you with Paris Hilton's "Drunk Text" video - a cringe-worthy attempt to reenter the world of music/rap/spoken word ... who the heck knows, honestly.

The "song" (term used loosely) is a collaboration between Paris Hilton and production duo Manufactured Superstars. It leaked yesterday, and is not a joke apparently.

Watch Hilton wax poetic on the finer points of drunk texting and weigh in below:

What do you think of Paris' "Drunk Text"?
