In a new interview with Univision, former boxer Oscar De La Hoya has opened up about the depth of his personal issues, which culminated this spring in a trip to rehab.

"Rock bottom was recently," De La Hoya said, according to an English-language transcript provided by the network. "Within couple of years, just thinking if my life was even worth it. I don't have the strength, I don't have the courage to take my own life but I was thinking about it."

While De La Hoya has reportedly told friends he hasn't hit rock bottom, he checked himself in to a rehab center in California a few weeks to take care of the issue before it got worse.

Said the former champion, soon after news of this decision was made public:

"After doing an honest evaluation of myself, I recognize that there are certain issues that I need to work on. Like everyone, I have my flaws, and I do not want to be one of those people that is afraid to admit and address those flaws.

"Throughout my career and my life, I have always met all challenges head-on, and this is no different. I am confident that with the support of my family and friends, I will become a stronger, healthier person.

"I ask for respect and privacy as my family and I go through this process."

Oscar De La Hoya has met an opponent he can't knock down with a single punch: substance abuse.

The legendary boxer has entered a rehab facility, sources tell TMZ, entering a program a couple weeks ago in California.

Milana Dravnel, Oscar De La Hoya

De La Hoya retired in 2009 and has since become a successful promoter. His recent Tweets hinted that something was amiss, as the athlete wrote: "Stop finding excuses not to live. life is controlled by what you make of it and not of what it makes of you."

We wish him a full recovery.

Some things are just too good to be true.

The rumored Lauren Conrad sex tape is one example... no way that thing exists. Same goes for those supposed Oscar de la Hoya drag photos.

Ex-Scores stripper Milana Dravnel, who supposedly took and sold the saucy pics of the boxer, has dropped her $100 million lawsuit against Oscar de la Hoya for calling her a liar and calling the pictures out as fakes.

Turns out, according to experts who analyzed the photos, Oscar was right - they had been digitally altered and Milana was lying after all.

Oscar de la Hoya's lawyer Judd Burstein told the New York Daily News:

"[Milana Dravnel] was facing very large damages and so she agreed to drop the case. The case would have been dismissed anyway."

Here are two of the photos of Oscar de la Hoya, the renowned boxing champion, and Milana Dravnel, shady stripper extraordinaire, in question.

He is dressed as a ballerina in one of them. Fake or not, it's pretty funny.

Milana Dravnel, the stripper suing boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya for $100 million, showed up to court Friday to begin her case against him.

Naturally, she provided a full photo shoot in front of the courthouse.

But, when it came time to start the actual proceedings, Dravnel totally chickened out and couldn't bring herself to walk into the courtroom!

Oscar De La Hoya was not even present.

Salvatore Strazzullo, the lawyer for Milana Dravnel, told TMZ she was "too nervous" to face the federal court judge, even though very little went down.

Milana Dravnel wants $100 million from De La Hoya for defamation, after he claims she fabricated drag photos showing him wearing women's lingerie in a Philadelphia hotel. Which, in our opinion, aren't lookin' to fabricated ...

After she wouldn't get in the legal ring, Oscar De La Hoya's legal team requested arbitration. Dravel and De La Hoya due back in court May 2.

Oscar De La Hoya has a child with ex-fiance Shanna Moakler, two kids with random women, and two with Millie Corretjer, who he married in 2001.

The stripper who claims that she had a strange, torrid fling with boxing champion Oscar de la Hoya - and has the alleged stilettoed, kinky drag photos to prove it - is fighting to get the hunk into the ring. Legally. So to speak.

Oscar, meanwhile, is trying to send the case to a secret arbitration.

Millie Corretjer

Milana Dravnel filed a memorandum to nix De La Hoya's request to get the case dismissed on grounds that she agreed to arbitrate her claims against him.

Milana Dravnel to Oscar de la Hoya: Put up your dukes, Nancy!

Dravnel says she never made any deal with the boxer to go to arbitration, much less an agreement to publicly disavow the Oscar de la Hoya drag photos.

The gist of all this?

Milana Dravnel wants a public trial to help win her $100 million suit, while the champ wants it handled in secret. Makes sense for both parties.

Oscar's lawyer didn't immediately respond to a call for comment. Oscar and his wife, Millie Corretjer, recently welcomed their second child.

Millie CorretjerOscar de la Hoya and Millie Corretjer have welcomed their second child together, Nina Lauren Nenitte de la Hoya, born Saturday in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The cute little girl arrived at 4:36 p.m. local time, weighing 7 lbs., 13 oz.

"We are so excited and blessed with the new addition to our family!" Oscar de la Hoya, the boxing champ and drag photo queen said in a statement.

Millie Corretjer's pregnancy was first announced in May - an hour after de La Hoya lost a major match in Las Vegas to "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather.

Nina is Oscar De La Hoya's fourth child and Millie Corretjer's second. The couple previously welcomed a son, Oscar Gabriel, on December 29, 2005.

De La Hoya, 34, and Corretjer, a 33-year-old pop singer, were married back on October 5, 2001. The couple met in 2000, when both were signed to the same record label. De La Hoya's debut CD that year earned a Grammy nod.

In addition to his children with Millie Corretjer, the boxer has two other little mistakes from previous relationships: Jacob and Atiana.

Atiana's mother is none other than former Dancing with the Stars contestant / Playboy model / possible Travis Barker spouse, Shanna Moakler.

Milana Dravnel, the stripper-hooker who allegedly was behind the Oscar de la Hoya drag photos circulating around the web this year, had no comment.

The stripper-model who first claimed she had racy snapshots of sexy boxer Oscar De La Hoya wearing lingerie - then quickly recanted her own tale on national TV - is now suing him for $100 million for smearing her reputation.

In the suit, filed this week in Manhattan Supreme Court, Milana Dravnel alleges that Oscar De La Hoya's management team coerced her into taking back her story - where she allegedly took racy drag photos of Oscar De La Hoya in fishnet stockings, and what appears to be ballerina outfit in a Philly hotel room.

Oscar De La Hoya made what turned out to be "false promises" based on Milana Dravnel recanting what she told the media, the lawsuit claims.

Milana Dravnel also claims she was the champ's mistress from January 2006 to May 2007, and that she was paid $70,000 by celebrity photo agency X17 for the pictures (see below), a price her lawyer says was "below market value."

Dravnel is suing the champ for "fraud, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress." There was no response from Oscar De La Hoya or his camp.

The woman who says she took revealing and borderline nude Oscar De La Hoya photos of the boxer wearing women's lingerie is changing her story.

Just days after she claimed the drag pictures were "not Photoshopped," model Milana Dravnel now tells the New York Daily News that she "cannot personally... verify the authenticity of the images."

Oscar De La Hoya Pitches

Pictures of Oscar De La Hoya naked or dressed in drag "were taken from my personal camera and were out of my control," Dravnel said, adding she was "pressured into going public with the photos by individuals with improper motives who acted solely for their own financial gain."

Milana Dravnel would not go so far as to say that all the pics of Oscar De La Hoya were doctored. Asked about specific shots â€" such as one that appears to show her getting a hug from the tutu-wearing prize fighter â€" Dravnel declined comment.

Oscar De La Hoya: Champion boxer... and drag queen?

The gorgeous 22-year-old Russian immigrant and model would also not rule out that De La Hoya attended tequila-fueled parties where, according to sources, the Golden Boy dressed up in fishnets, stilettos, panties and a wig.

Sources have also said he took part in role-playing â€" sometimes using the name "Goldie" and pretending to be a squealing girl riding the back of a motorcycle. During one so-called "slumber party," Dravnel and other girls shaved the boxer's legs.

"Mr. De La Hoya and I had a platonic relationship," the former Scores dancer said. "We did not have intimate relations."

Oscar De La Hoya's powerhouse lawyer, Bert Fields, has threatened to use "all legal remedies" to defend his client's good name.

But Dravnel insisted the decision to recant some of her statements "is mine. I have not been approached or paid by anyone to do this."

Last week, Dravnel taped an interview for Entertainment Tonight, due to air this evening, in which she denies that the mortifying Oscar De La Hoya pictures had been altered: "I only agreed to do a television interview ... after I received numerous threats from people who were in control of the images."

Oscar De La Hoya, a champion middleweight who is married, has often had his personal life marred by controversy, having fathered four children by as many women, including a daughter with Shanna Moakler.

Well then. Between Oscar De Lay Hoya, Tom Brady, Michael Vick, Alex Rodriguez and O.J. Simpson, the worlds of celebrity news and sports continue to intertwine at The Hollywood Gossip. We can only imagine who will be next.
