The Mel Gibson voicemail rants against Oksana Grigorieva are authentic and were not tampered with, according to analysis by a forensic audio expert.

They are also really freaking insane!

Kent Gibson, a certified forensic audio expert who has previously worked for the FBI and L.A. County Sheriff department, wrote in a court declaration:

"In my professional opinion as a forensic audio examiner, I conclude that the recordings have not been modified and can be considered authentic."

Kent's declaration, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court Dec. 9, came after he was hired by Oksana as she pursues a domestic violence case against Mel.

He was able to substantiate it was Gibson by comparing the voice to a sample of the star from an interview with talk-show host Michael Parkinson.

"The voice matches, indicating that this is the voice of Mr. Mel Gibson," Kent wrote, under penalty of perjury. "There are nine recordings made."

"Additionally there are nine voice mail recordings record on Oksana Grigorieva's answering machine." Yes there are. Follow the jump to hear them:

Charlie Sheen says Mel Gibson is one cool dude.

At some point, Gibson may want to take a critical lesson from his admirer and start #WINNING. Lately in court, dude's been doing anything but.

Oksana Grigorieva and her team of lawyers have scored yet another victory against Gibson, who must cough up $300,000 for her legal fees.

WOE IS MEL: Gibson must pay the $300,000 immediately.

Oksana's lawyers, which total more than 40, have asked for a figure exceeds an incredible $3 million. This for a custody battle involving one child, mind you.

They've also defended Oksana against extortion allegations, of course, and helped her make the case that Mel committed domestic violence against her.

He is likely to be charged soon, sources say. It's unclear how much Mel has paid in legal fees thus far, but talk about running up a tab, with no end in sight.

No decision has been made yet, but sources report that Mel Gibson is likely to be charged with domestic violence in an alleged attack on Oksana Grigorieva.

At the same time, Oksana, who Mel alleges tried to bilk him out of millions by lording his taped rants over his head, is likely to be off the hook for extortion.

The question complicating an already confusing, drawn-out mess of a case is whether L.A. County District Attorney Steve Cooley should even be involved.

In Attack Mode!

Is the D.A. biased by a connection to Oksana's lawyer?

The D.A.'s office will soon decide the fate of Oksana and Mel, but critics are pointing to fundraisers he attended on his own behalf as questionable. Why?

The lawyer who negotiated Oksana's $15 million settlement - which she left on the table, and is at the core of the extortion investigation - is Eric George.

George, a prominent Beverly Hills civil lawyer, hosted both campaign fundraisers last year, while the L.A. County Sheriff's Department was investigating.

Mel Gibson will likely face domestic violence charges stemming from an alleged attack on Oksana Grigorieva, while she will not be charged with extortion.

That's according to a TMZ report that is careful to note that this decision has not officially been reached. However, it looks like the D.A. is leaning this way.

Officials feel there's enough evidence to prosecute the actor, but not to prove beyond a doubt that Oksana tried to extort him using the Mel Gibson tapes.

An Oksana, Mel Picture

The turning point for the D.A., sources say, is that prior to being accused of violence, Mel admitted slapping Oksana in the couple's family law/custody case.

He says he did this without brute force, but to make her come to her senses, as she was shaking baby Lucia wildly and he feared Shaken Baby Syndrome.

The likely charge against Mel is misdemeanor domestic violence, not a felony. That carries a max of six months in jail which he almost surely wouldn't get.

The extortion investigation is less clear-cut. Sheriff's investigators believe there is evidence to prosecute Oksana Grigorieva, but the D.A. doesn't agree.

A decision is expected in the next two weeks, possibly this week.

Mel Gibson isn't nearly as worried about being charged with domestic violence as he is about his baby mama NOT being charged with extortion, TMZ reports.

Either Mel believes he won't face a domestic violence charge or he just feels that strongly Oksana Grigorieva tried to bilk him, but that's where his mind is.

He believes there is more than enough evidence to prove Oksana used the explosive Mel Gibson rants as leverage to score a $15 million payday last May.

Not Okay Oksana

MOTHER OF ALL BREAKUPS: They don't get any worse than this.

However, he fears politics of prosecution could get in the way. As for the alleged violence, he claims he only slapped her once - to protect their daughter.

Oksana's ex Timothy Dalton may testify against Gibson, reports suggest, but the credibility of Oksana has been called into question on many occasions.

The D.A. is currently mulling over the two case files, with the investigation having wrapped last week. So far, no decision has been made regarding either.

The couple is also actively engaged in a custody fight over Lucia, 1.

Before Mel Gibson, Oksana Grigorieva dated James Bond star Timothy Dalton, with whom she also has a child. The two still communicate - about Gibson, in fact.

According to reports, Grigorieva told a lawyer that Dalton will testify against Gibson in their case, revealing potentially damning evidence against the actor.

Da O.G.

In the battery and extortion investigations into Gibson and Grigorieva, she alleges he punched her and that "Tim" saw a bruise on her left eye after the fact.

"Tim saw a bruise on my left eye as well as Mady," Oksana said, referring also to her facialist and Dalton, the father of Grigorieva's teenage son Alexander.

"Both will testify," she added, noting: "Facts and witnesses."

If Gibson is charged with domestic abuse, the idea of Dalton - the subject of one of many Mel Gibson rants - testifying in court would make for a spectacle.

The revelations about Dalton, taken from Oksana's emails to an ex-attorney, came a day after we learned her desire to call his bluff and take her chances.

Oksana Grigorieva walked away from a huge settlement offer by Mel Gibson last spring because she felt the actor was "bluffing." At what? Well, it's unclear.

The actor's estranged ex told her lawyer she wanted to see "where the chips might fall" in court unless Mel was stripped of some custodial rights with Lucia.

Moreover, she was sure Gibson was "bluffing" and claimed she was forced to sign a $15 million peace deal "under duress" from her own legal advisors.

According to Radar, Oksana Grigorieva sent Eric George the following emails:

"If the opposition is buying my silence, please, we have to renogitiate (sic) the castody (sic) portion and to secure the monetory (sic)," she wrote June 2.

"If they say "No" then Im (sic) prepared to loose (sic) all this money they are paying to me and I WILL go court, see where the chips might fall."

"I'm NOT scared anymore and I'm NOT bluffing. I'm pretty sure the other side was bluffing. He (Mel Gbson) doesn't want this publicity."

By this publicity, she means the Mel Gibson tapes. Funny how those got out.

The Sheriff's Department's investigation is over, but sources say the Mel Gibson case is not heading toward a resolution, or even a decision on charges, soon.

The L.A. County D.A. will not make a quick decision on whether to charge Mel and/or Oksana Grigorieva with a crime, at least not this week. TMZ reports.

Oksana, Mel Picture

The reason? This is a really, really complicated case!

It's unclear if either Mel or Oksana will be charged.

The L..A. County Sheriff's Dept. turned over a full report on the Oksana Grigorieva extortion investigation. There are two separate investigations in play, too.

Because of the alleged extortion, the Mel Gibson tapes, her accusation of domestic abuse and myriad custody issues, the report will take time to digest.

The D.A. has said they will make a decision on whether to file criminal charges as a package, but that the decision absolutely will not be made this week.

Whose side are you on?

After an investigation that's spanned several months, the Oksana Grigorieva extortion case is now in the hands of the L.A. County District Attorney.

The case file went to the D.A.'s office at noon today.

Some sources say a charge is unlikely, given the inconsistencies in her story and the obvious credibility problems she has amassed over half a year.

The D.A. will soon decide if Oksana will be charged with extortion.

It boils down to a $15 million deal Oksana signed, and then walked away from, during child custody mediation sessions with Gibson in May, 2010.

The deal included child support, a house, and other assets ... plus the guarantee that Oksana would NOT leak the now-infamous Mel Gibson tapes.

The D.A. has also yet to decide whether to charge Mel Gibson with domestic abuse, which Oksana alleges and the actor has vehemently denied.

The extortion investigation of Mel Gibson's ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva drags on, with the case still not turned over to the L.A. District Attorney.

This has left prosecutors "frustrated" as they look to move forward with the domestic violence case against Mel and the extortion case against Oksana.

Until files are turned over, the D.A. can't file charges or drop the case.

Moksana

While the investigation was said to be "substantially done" last week, prosecutors now don't think they will receive the case until next week, if that.

"The amount of hours the Sheriff's Department spent investigating Oksana is mind boggling," said one source. As is the fact that Mel ever dated her.

Sheriff's officials have spent months investigating claims that she, or someone close to her, tried to trade her silence in exchange for Gibson's cash.

The two are also in a bitter custody dispute over one-year-old Lucia.
