Nicole Richie has been offered the lead role of Roxie Hart in the Broadway production of Chicago, which says a lot about Chicago's standards.

Richie, 26, who welcomed daughter Harlow Madden with boyfriend Joel Madden on January 12, is undecided as to whether she'll accept.

"She is definitely interested and weighing it out with the timing of the baby," a Richie pal tells Us Weekly. "It is in the super early stages of discussions and no decision has been made yet."

"It would give her a reason to really show her talent and to stay in the new place in New York [Joel Madden] just got," the source says.

"It also shows people are really excited about Nicole right now."

Nicole has talent? People are excited by it? Where the heck have we been?

Whatever Nicole Richie's decision, this year will be big for the new mom.

"Nicole is also weighing some other amazing offers but 2008 is going to be really exciting for her," the source says. "She's just trying to work it all out and keeping Harlow in mind with everything she does, of course!"

If she turns it down, Chicago, perhaps Britney Spears is available...

Just two weeks after welcoming daughter Harlow, Nicole Richie is already skinny again. That's what not ingesting any nutrients will do!

Clad in a tight black dress, Richie and her rocker beau Joel Madden joined her dad, Lionel Richie, at a birthday party Friday for her manager Benny Medina.

There's plenty to celebrate for the family: Medina recently brokered Nicole Richie's $1 million sale of the first pictures of little Harlow Madden.

This next part is sweet, though.

Joel Madden recenly blogged that he "had no idea what love even was until Harlow came along. I swear it's so hard to leave during the day, but always so rewarding to come home to the little family... She is growing so fast!"

The young couple welcomed a girl into the world yesterday, as Harlow Winter Kate Madden was born Friday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A.

Harlow Madden weighed 6 lbs., 7 ounces at birth; or approximately half as much as her mother.

The celebrity news writers at Us Weekly have the scoop on Nicole Richie's Wizard of Oz-themed baby shower at the Beverly Hills Hotel Sunday.

The shower was hosted by her mother, Brenda, Nicole's sister, Sophia, and two of her long time friends, Paris Hilton and Masha Gordon.

Nicole Richie, 26 â€" who is due in January â€" arrived in a blue-trimmed white dress. She was greeted by life-size replicas of Oz characters â€" Dorothy, the Tinman, the lion, the scarecrow and the Wicked Witch of the West.

"The shower was really cute," Paris Hilton said. "We had a Wizard of Oz cake."

Party planner Mindy Weiss threw the bash. The 90 guests â€" including Lauren Conrad, celebrity DJ Samantha Ronson and Aussie singer Sophie Monk (Joel's twin brother Benji Madden's fiancée) â€" ate "little burgers and pasta," Hilton added.

"The shower was great," Lauren Conrad said. "It was really cute."

It was the first of five baby showers Nicole Richie plans to hold. Which is absurd. But here's something really cool they're doing. Instead of gifts, Richie and Joel Madden have asked pals to give cribs, strollers and stuffed animals to the new Richie Madden Children's Foundation, which supports mothers in need.

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden recently made an offer on a home in a posh, gated Southern California community only to be denied by the would-be neighbors.

When Nicole Richie got the news that she and her fiance and rocker baby-daddy were denied by residents who were concerned about celebrity news photographers hovering around their homes, "Nicole was livid because she loved the house," a source tells Us Weekly. "She thinks it's a BS reason, but she couldn't fight it."

Still, being dismissed from the private community hasn't put a damper on Joel Madden and Nicole Richie's growing excitement over their upcoming event.

Another source says that Nicole Richie is planning a baby shower for the end of November. And Joel Madden expects fatherhood to have a positive impact on many parts of his life, including his songwriting.

"I'm sure it will inspire me," he said. "Yeah, I'm sure it will."

According to TMZ, Nicole Richie and her baby daddy, rock musician Joel Madden, may have finally set the date for their wedding. And it's soon!

Sources tell TMZ that The Wedding Fairy - no, not Perez Hilton, but an upscale wedding planner by that name based in Orange County, Calif., - will coordinate the small ceremony that is to take place October 13 in Laguna Beach.

Hopefully, the ceremony will be broadcast on MTV, with Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari as bridesmaids and Stephen Colletti and Jason Wahler as groomsmen.

When the celebrity news site contacted Lorraine Keseloff, a wedding planner and owner of the company, who had no comment and quickly hung up the phone.

Nicole Richie's rep did not return calls seeking comment either. We'll keep our eyes peeled, though. Under two weeks until she's an honest anorexic woman!

Like Halle Berry, it appears Nicole Richie really is pregnant - and was telling the truth when she claimed to be knocked up with the spawn of Joel Madden earlier this summer.
