If we've learned anything in two and a half years in this biz, it's that the celebrity news world is chock full of DUI arrests, plastic surgery and best of all, eating disorders. Stars binge and purge - or just starve themselves - like mad.

Well, we're happy to present a rare success story - a young celebrity who, in the not-so-distant past, was fast approaching refugee status, but who has since filled out to the point where she actually looks good in a bikini.

Take a look at the comparison of Nicole Richie now and 28 months ago (TMZ put this together). It's amazing what a steady relationship (with Joel Madden), a baby (Harlow) and eating regularly will do for a girl's figure. 

Keep up the good work, Nicole! And give Kate Bosworth a call ...

Today is Christmas, but for many of the stars we know and love, the best present ever came earlier this year. We are talking, of course, about celebrity babies!

Jamie Lynn Spears became America's hottest unwed teen mom when she welcomed little Maddie Briann (below, left). Bristol Palin may compete for that title, but hasn't given birth quite yet - though Sarah Palin welcomed baby Trig in April!

Elsewhere, Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves pooled their remarkable genes and created Levi, while many big stars, such as Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Halle Berry, Nicole Richie and Nicole Kidman, became first-time mothers.

There's no way this actually happened.

Not only does Star Magazine have a penchant for absolutely bogus covers (see Britney and Kevin 2004 file photo turned 2008 romantic getaway), but if the event described below really took place, every publication in Hollywood would know it.

Moreover, the tabloid's claim that Nicole Richie packed her bags after a bitter fight with Joel Madden and left him with their daughter in tow is undercut within the article ... by the supposed "fact" that she returned a day after the supposed fight.

So, if you went to investigate the accuracy of this story, you'd learn she's - lo and behold - still living there, making it hard to disprove. How convenient, Star.

This magazine cover is therefore only notable for a cute picture of Harlow Madden. Which is nice at least. Aww. Now that's one cute celebrity baby ...

The article also claims that Joel was indeed "caught" with Mischa Barton (who just broke up with Taylor Locke) ... at the same party. For shame, Joel.

... you know. Both are kinda cute. Neither is super hot. Both are on the celebrity fashion police's most wanted list. Neither enjoys a nice meal. If you were given a choice between Nicole Richie or Mary-Kate Olsen, tell us...

Who would you rather ...

These four troubled young women have more than just seductive celebrity mug shots in common - they actually served time for their DUI-related antics!

Granted, that meant sitting in a cell for an hour or two in some cases, creating huge spectacles and accomplishing little other than wasting taxpayer money.

But that's a topic for another time. Here are the now-infamous mug shots of Khloe Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton:

Bonus points if you can match the amount of jail time served with the train wreck celebrity: 84 minutes, 22 days, 173 minutes, 82 minutes.

Joel Madden got his fans excited when he blogged Saturday: "WE DID IT!! NICOLE AND I FINALLY GOT MARRIED!! Click here for pictures!!"

He was just joking, of course â€" and taking a shot at lame celebrity news rag Star for falsely reporting he was planning a $2 million wedding.

Already parents of five-month-old daughter Harlow, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are not married. Yet. They are very happy together, however.

"HAHA. JUST KIDDING," Joel Madden blogged. "So I feel really stupid even posting this, but I've been getting calls and texts from my family all week asking me why they weren't invited to my wedding."

On their outing yesterday, the 26-year-old Nicole Richie was accompanied by rocker fiance Joel Madden and daughter Harlow Winter Kate Madden, who turns four months old - how time flies - Sunday.

Okay, you can't see really Harlow. But this pic is cute!

We've been critical of Nicole Richie in the past, but she and Joel make a really cute couple - and Harlow's one of our favorite celebrity babies!

Here's an absolute stunner. Reports from OK! Magazine that Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are planning a summer wedding are actually not true!

"They are not even engaged," a rep for Nicole Richie said.

OK! Magazine (the same celebrity news publication that recently ran a 2003 picture of Britney Spears with its current cover story about the singer losing weight), reported online about the supposed Richie-Madden wedding.

"Invites for the blessed event are set to go out next week" and "a celebrity party planner is getting everything together for the nuptials," it said.

Nicole Richie will remain an unwed baby mama for the foreseeable future.

Alas, it turns out they are not following the lead of Jamie Lynn Spears and Casey Aldridge, however, and plan to remain unwed parents for now.

Richie and Madden welcomed daughter Harlow Winter Kate in January.

Nicole Richie has been offered the lead role of Roxie Hart in the Broadway production of Chicago, which says a lot about Chicago's standards.

Richie, 26, who welcomed daughter Harlow Madden with boyfriend Joel Madden on January 12, is undecided as to whether she'll accept.

"She is definitely interested and weighing it out with the timing of the baby," a Richie pal tells Us Weekly. "It is in the super early stages of discussions and no decision has been made yet."

"It would give her a reason to really show her talent and to stay in the new place in New York [Joel Madden] just got," the source says.

"It also shows people are really excited about Nicole right now."

Nicole has talent? People are excited by it? Where the heck have we been?

Whatever Nicole Richie's decision, this year will be big for the new mom.

"Nicole is also weighing some other amazing offers but 2008 is going to be really exciting for her," the source says. "She's just trying to work it all out and keeping Harlow in mind with everything she does, of course!"

If she turns it down, Chicago, perhaps Britney Spears is available...
