Nicki Minaj goes seriously old school on the latest cover of W. We're talking old, old, old school, people.

Thanks to artist Francesco Vezzoli, the artist is transformer into a 18th-century woman, donning elaborate pieces by Dior Haute Couture, Vera Wang, and Western Costume Company. See for yourself:

Said Vezzoli of working with Minaj, who surprised her biggest fan on Ellen this week in this adorable video:

"I wanted to play with the public image of a female hip-hop star. During my entire career, I have always been fascinated by powerful women in history. I have spent a lot of time researching the ways they were represented in art and how their images were used to mold the public imagination."

Mission accomplished, we'd say. Compare this look to Minaj's recent Cosmo cover. Notice any differences?

Nicki Minaj has not always been household name and international superstar.

Earlier this year, the artist talked openly about her abusive father and how she truly believed he would murder her mother. Now, in the November issue of Cosmopolitan, Minaj shares another dark fact about her past: she once considered suicide.

“I kept having doors slammed in my face,” Nicki tells the magazine of her early career. "I felt like nothing was working. I had moved out on my own, and here I was thinking I’d have to go home...

“It was just one dead end after another. At one point, I was, like, ‘What would happen if I just didn’t wake up?’ That’s how I felt. Like maybe I should just take my life?’”

Millions of face around the globe, of course, are very happy that Nicki kept fighting. As the cover above states, this singer most definitely rules her world.

Sophia Grace Brownlee, a little girl far too young to be singing Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass," has done so online. And, inappropriateness aside, she nails the thing.

Right down to Minaj's accent, the youngster shows off serious talent and looks pretty darn adorable in a princess outfit, backed up with her even littler sister.

While belting out lyrics like "Somebody please tell them who the eff I is." Nice.

It's hilarious, disturbing and musically impressive, all at the same time. Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez, you best step off. This "Super Bass" cover tops all:

Talk about a matchup made in celebrity fashion heaven.

Lady Gaga's performance as Jo Calderone wasn't the last we saw of her male alter ego at the MTV Video Music Awards. She showed up at Sunday's event in character and continued to channel Jo at an after party following the show!

Topping last year's meat dress wasn't easy, but she may have managed it in her understated drag. That is way too convincing. Gaga may have even outshone Nicki Minaj - not an easy feat - for wildest couture choice of the night.

Nicki Minaj made quite the impression at the 2011 Video Music Awards.

The eccentric singer first made like Lady Gaga, showing up on the red carpet in an outfit that involves a mask and defies description. Shake your head over it HERE.

She also debuted the official music video for "Fly," which features Rihanna and which takes the artist through an apocalyptic universe. But, don't worry, there's still room for dancing and a few wardrobe changes. Also, ninjas. Nicki definitely battles a few ninjas...

Nicki Minaj made the Wardrobe Malfunction Hall of Fame this morning.

The singer, performing live on Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series in New York City's Central Park, saw her breast spill on out of her top.

Twice.

Reactions came fast and furious to the Nicki Minaj nipple slip, which aired live on the East Coast (lucky!!!!), but was edited out for other time zones.

The Parents Television Council blasted GMA, saying the whole thing could have been prevented with a five-second tape delay. Wishful thinking?

The nip slip occurred when Minaj's cropped green sports bra slid down as she jumped up and down singing her latest single "Where Dem Girls At."

She brushed it off, only to have it occur again later.

Watch videos of Nicki Minaj performing "Moment 4 Life" and "Super Bass" after the jump and keep your eyes peeled for the scandalous displays:
