Stevie Nicks has issued a public apology.

A couple days after the Fleetwood Mac singer got involved in the Nicki Minaj/Mariah Carey feud by referring to the former as a "little girl" who needed to be choked, the artist has come out with a statement.

“I want to apologize for my remarks about Nicki Minaj’s behavior toward Mariah Carey which I said during a long and exhausting day of interviews,” Nicks tells Just Jared.

“It was very out of character for me and I deeply regret what I said. I feel very protective toward Mariah Carey who has gone through many difficulties in her life and I spoke without thinking. I think all artist should be respectful toward one another and that includes me. I am truly sorry.”

Whose side are you on in this rivalry?

It may be a feud concocted for ratings, but Stevie Nicks is taking the rivalry between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj VERY seriously.

Asked about this supposed American Idol spat, the Fleetwood Mac singer made it quite clear on whose side she falls.

“How dare this little girl!" Nicks said of Minaj. "If I had been Mariah I would have walked over to Nicki and strangled her to death right there.”

Without taking sides, and with an eye toward quieting the critics, American Idol producers have released a statement in regard to this week's simmering Nicki Minaj vs. Mariah Carey feud.

"This is one of the best, most passionate, dynamic and invested judging panels we've ever had," the producers said in response to Minaj going off on Carey during a taping in Charlotte.

"We love and support all of the judges and the fantastic work they are doing, and we can't imagine a better group to find the next American Idol."

Nick Cannon has weighed in on the Mariah Carey vs. Nicki Minaj feud - and you'll never guess which side he's taking.

"My wife is the strongest and classiest woman that I’ve ever met," Cannon said today on Access Hollywood Live when asked about Minaj going off on Carey during an early Season 12 audition episode.

"If you watch the video, she just maintains her composure… I don’t think she’s moved by the theatrics and pageantry of it all. She signed up to do a job to help young people."

It's been two days since Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban were confirmed as American Idol judges on Season 12.

And there's already talk of contention among panelists.

According to show sources, Mariah Carey was peeved from the outset over Minaj possibly joining the judging table, considering the outspoken rapper would give the pop legend a run for her diva-like money.

Asked by reporters yesterday about the supposed tension between her and Minaj, Carey dismissed the chatter, saying: "How can we feud in two days? I think a feud takes a little longer."

Nicki didn't have anything negative to say about Mariah, either, labeling her very brief Idol experience - which includes a couple hours of auditions - so far as "wonderful."

Concluded Randy Jackson: "We're having fun, dude. We've been having a good time. There has been a lot of laughs."

Well... darn. Where's the gossip related fun in that?!?
