Vanessa Lachey showed off her baby bump, bikini style, in a Twitter photo this week.

But she delivered something even more exciting to fans yesterday regarding the growing child in her belly: its gender!

“It’s a BOY. Nick and I are incredibly excited to share the news that we are expecting a baby boy,” the Wipeout host wrote on her website. “We can’t wait to meet him soon!!!”

Naturally, the couple - who revealed Vanessa's pregnancy in March - would be happy with either gender, but Mrs. Lachey did state back then that she "always wanted a boy first."

Vanessa Lachey (formerly Minnillo) and her husband Nick Lachey are expecting a baby, Nick himself confirmed on Live! With Kelly, which he co-hosted Monday.

The female Lachey is due late summer or early fall.

She "started to feel a little different, not herself," Nick said. "So she went to the store, got a pregnancy test, and it came back positive. So we are having a baby!"

The dad-to-be added: "I've had a chance to do a lot of great things in my career and my life but this is the one thing that, more than any other, I look forward to."

"The fact that it's actually here, it's overwhelming."

And while the couple doesn't yet know the sex of the baby, they will – if Nick has anything to do with it. "We definitely want to know," Lachey told Ripa.

"I can't take the knowledge that someone out there knows, but I don't know. It's like watching a sports game on TiVo," mused the singer, 38.

This will be the first child for Nick and Vanessa, who got married in July 2011, and have been together for more than five years. Congratulations!

Look, Nick Lachey knows he's 37. He knows the pressure is on. And he's giving it to new wife Vanessa Minnillo as often as possible.

So far, though, the unprotected sex is yet to lead to a child.

"Trust me, it would make me very happy," Lachey told E! News of procreating. "Family is very important. It's very important to us, and I'm sure that will be around the corner."

Hammering home the point that she's getting hammered every night, Minnilo updated her Twitter page soon after getting married on July 15 to include "wifey by night" and "wannabe mommy all the time."

How is married life treating the couple? Just dandy, says Lachey:

"We're still in the honeymoon period. Not much changed, which, for me, is a good thing. We've been together five years. We were very comfortable in our relationship before the marriage."

The pair married on a tropical island in front of 35 friends and family.

"For us, this is just a stepping stone to do what we ultimately want and that's to start a family together," Minnillo said after the surprise affair.

She and Nick started dating in 2006 and became engaged last November, but no one knew when their wedding would be. Not even the guests!

"Nobody knew where they were going," Minnillo said. "Our wedding invitations were in the form of a plane ticket," Lachey added of the secret. "We told them they were going away and the attire was 'island chic.' It was all very vague."

Lachey and Minnillo's destination wedding will be televised on a TLC's special called Nick & Vanessa's Dream Wedding, premiering July 30.

It was the first marriage for Minnillo; Lachey was previously and famously married to Jessica Simpson, who he separated from in 2006.

You know what they say: if your first televised wedding doesn't go well, try, try again.

TLC has announced plans to air a special dedicated to the nuptials of Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo. It will include footage from their joint wedding shower, the latter's search for a gown and, of course, end with the actual ceremony.

Lachey allowed reality TV cameras into his life in a similar manner for his wedding to Jessica Simpson. That union ended in divorce after four years.

"We're lucky to have such passionate and loving fans, and we though partnering with TLC on this special would be the best way to share the exciting journey we're on with all the people that support us and our relationship," the couple said, shockingly, in a joint statement.

We had no clue the pair had any fans.

"I'm about to get a ball and chain ... but not yet and tonight's my bachelorette party!" the hottie screamed into the DJ's microphone at LAVO.

The future bride was then serenaded by the Nick impersonator who proceeded to tear off his shirt and perform renditions of 98 Degrees' hits.

But Minnillo and her guests' weekend was just getting started. The group partied poolside while she donned a sash and crown in Las Vegas.

Fortunately (for them), they didn't run into Heidi Montag.

Although the pair haven't announced their wedding date, it could be going down pretty soon. The bachelorette party's over. Just saying.

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo have landed a role on the small screen that involves more than just hosting.

The engaged couple has been cast on Hawaii Five-0, the highest-rated new show of the season.

According to CBS sources, Nick and Vanessa will appear on a February episode of the drama. Minnillo will portray a character named Susan who works as a deckhand on a cruise boat that's taken hostage. Lachey will be her fiance.

It's a role he's been studying for over the last few weeks.

On The Rachael Ray Show Wednesday, Nick revealed his holiday plans with his fiance and hinted that the pair just might tie the knot.

Might the holidays be extra joyous for Nick and 'Nessa?

"We're going to be in Cincinnati with family, and hopefully having a white Christmas there. We're going to be in Tuscany for New Year's," he said.

"Who knows, we may be married in Tuscany, too! I just basically told her, I said, 'Tell me when and where to be and what to wear, I'll be there.'"

If that happens, look for Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson to wed January 2.

No wedding date has been set for Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo. But the former has a plan for when discussions turn to this recently-engaged couple's nuptials.

"I want it to be about her," Lachey told People. "Any guy will tell you that it's probably more about the bride than the groom. It's just about celebrating your love for each other."

And Lachey certainly has a lot of love for Minnillo. "She's my soulmate in every way," he said, adding:

Divorce is a painful process for couples, so there are going to be mixed emotions if a former spouse gets re-married. Just the same, Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson appear nothing but happy for each other.

Much as the tabloids wish he'd give a better sound bite, Nick wishes nothing but the best for Jess, who got engaged to Eric Johnson over the weekend.

"I will say the same thing I always say: I wish her the very best," said Lachey, who just got engaged to Vanessa Minnillo himself after years of dating.

Asked how she felt about Lachey's engagement, Simpson is equally mature, telling Ryan Seacrest "Our relationship was over a really long time ago, and it would be nice if everyone could move on and celebrate the love between him and Vanessa."

Like Jessica, Nick says he's "basking in the glow" of the news and "enjoying that. I'm sure we'll get on the other planning shortly. We are just enjoying this experience." 

Simpson and Lachey famously wed in 2002 and infamously split in 2005. Even then, it wasn't bitter. "This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other," they said in a statement.
