Natalie Portman is an underrated, versatile actress. To say the very least. She's also smart because she went to Harvard.

Celebrities, the objects of our obsessions, pretty faces for whom we pine, hot bodies of both the male and female variety. But they're more than just the sum of their parts.

They're actually pretty darn smart, too. Well, some of them are.

We could argue that all of them are smart for being able to make a career out of being on television and in movies and getting paid to wear designer clothes.

On the flip side, we have the likes of Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan and Justin Bieber to consider. We're not calling them dumb, but...

Anyway, there are a shocking number of Ivy Leaguers, magna cum laude graduates and members of Mensa in Hollywood. Forget film and TV; they've published papers and earned Ph.Ds.

Here are 31 celebrities who are really, really smart ...

Danica McKellar
Danica McKellar might not have been as good a dancer as the others, but she's better at math than them. She's authored four books advocating math education for girls.

Paul Walker and Philip Seymour Hoffman's untimely deaths left voids in their unfinished projects.

While the Fast & Furious franchise opted to use Walker's real-life, non-acting brother to finish up, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay will go on with a computer-generated image of Plutarch Heavensbee in Hoffman's place.

None of that would matter had those men had their very own celebrity doppelgänger.

And after creating this celebrity look-alike gallery, we're sort of shocked no one tapped Joseph Gordon-Levitt to fill in for Heath Ledger. (Just wait until you get to #7 and see what we mean.)

Prepare to have your mind blown, ladies and THGers. These 19 celebrity look-alikes are so similar you won't believe they aren't related. (They aren't. We checked.)

Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel
Zooey Deschanel looks more like Katy Perry than she does her own sister. No Bones about it.

For more doppelgänger-y goodness, you can always watch The Vampire Diaries online

What's in a name? As it turns out, maybe everything.

Since Shakespeare first posited the question in Romeo and Juliet, actors have been using fake names to land professional roles. Not only did it allow them some semblance of privacy before the dawn of Wikipedia, but let's face it, some people just aren't born with great names.

Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O'Connor? Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta? Quite a mouthful.

If an actor or musician's entire career is dedicated to being someone else - a character or personality, perhaps - then a good stage name can go a long way to making that career explode.

More celebrities use pseudonyms than you might think. In fact, here are 67 stars who don't use their real names. Which ones did you know before viewing this gallery?

Lorde
Musical sensation Lorde was given the name Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O'Connor at birth. We'd probably go with Lorde, too.

Natalie Portman doesn't exactly go all Miley Cyrus in the new issue of Marie Claire.

But the Oscar winner does show a bit of skin.

She also tells the magazine that she's preparing to move to Paris with husband Benjamin Millipied and son Alpeph and initially "freaked" over the change.

“I just really really love it here," she says of Los Angeles. "It’s one of the most exciting places to be in the world right now. It’s really central in terms of the arts. It feels like things are happening in L.A., you know?"

Still, "everyone dreams of living in Paris," so Portman knows she can't complain.

Move over, Tom Cruise. Take a seat, Brad Pitt. Not so fast, Julia Roberts.

Forbes has come out with its list of "Hollywood's Best Actors for the Buck," a rundown of the stars who earn the most money for studios - and none of the usual A-listers are included.

  • Kristen Stewart Breaking Dawn Poster

Instead, Natalie Portman sits in first place, as the Black Swan actress earns $42.70 for every dollar she's paid.

A close second? Kristen Stewart, who owes almost all of her success (which translates to $40.60 for every dollar she's paid) to The Twilight Saga.

Natalie Portman bares all, tastefully, in her latest ad for Dior beauty.

Appropriately, Portman is advertising the Rouge Dior Nude Lipcolor.

The collection includes eight new shades, including a special hue, Grege #169, proceeds from which benefit her charity of choice, the Free the Children Association.

The organization uses leadership training to empower and inspire the world’s youth. You, subsequently, can feel good about admiring the image below:

“I chose the color Grège because it’s the one I’d pick to wear myself,” the actress, who married Benjamin Millepied this summer, says in a release. “

The number [169] contains different dates that are important to me and my family.” Grege was also the color of Dior’s “New Look” back in 1947.

This is the first Dior ad we’ve seen from Portman since last year, when John Galliano's anti-Semitic rant in Paris got him fired from the iconic brand.

In April of this year, it was announced that former Jil Sander creative director Raf Simons was taking over at Dior. A positive change, no doubt.

What do you think of Natalie Portman's new ad above?

Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied got married in Big Sur, California, on Saturday. For the special occasion, she wore a wedding dress by Rodarte.

That label run is by Portman's pals, sisters Laura and Kate Mulleavy, according to Us Weekly. Portman, 31, also wore flats, a veil and a floral crown.

Rodarte also designed Portman's iconic tutu for Black Swan, so her choice for the wedding is fitting. Check out a photo of Natalie in her wedding dress!

Natalie Portman, Husband

Portman has been a fan of Rodarte for years, wearing the label at events like the 83rd Annual Academy Awards and the 2012 Venice Film Festival.

The couple met on the Black Swan set and got engaged in 2010; Natalie announced her pregnancy at the same time their relationship broke.

Guests at Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied's traditional Jewish ceremony included Home Alone actor Macaulay Culkin, 31, and Ivanka Trump, 30.

The newlyweds' 14-month-old son, Aleph, was also present.

Hearty congratulations are in order for Natalie Portman.

The Oscar winning actress married Benjamin Millepied, the choreographer she met on the set of Black Swan in 2009, on the coast of California today. With friends and family around, the couple exchanged vows in a Jewish ceremony at a private residence.

Portman and Millepied announced that they were expecting a child in December 2010 and are now the parents of a 14-month old son named Aleph.

Officially a wife, Portman may now become a French citizen like her husband. Either way, we wish the parents and newlyweds nothing but the best!

Did Natalie Portman secretly marry fiance Benjamin Millepied recently?

The subtle rings they wore to the 2012 Academy Awards appeared to be a quiet way of announcing that marriage at the Oscars on Sunday evening.

Adding fuel to the fire, jeweler Jamie Wolf confirmed in a press release that she designed Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied’s “wedding rings.”

Wolf created two diamond rings for the 2011 Oscar winner, made to fit on either side of Portman's engagement ring, and a platinum band for Millepied.

Both rings are eco-friendly, made with recycled metals and conflict-free diamonds.

Wolf, one of Millepied’s dancer friends, designed Portman’s engagement ring, too.

“Ben was exceptionally thoughtful and dedicated and patient to make sure  thatwe had everything right,” she said shortly after the actress debuted the sparkler.

That ring, made of recycled platinum and featuring certified conflict-free stones, was designed to fit in with Portman’s earth-friendly and vegan lifestyle.

Said Wolf, “We wanted everything about the ring to speak to things that are important to Natalie.” As for whether Natalie is officially Mrs. Millepied?

No confirmation there, and don't hold your breath for it, knowing how this uber-private couple operates. Good for them, and congratulations, probably!
