MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry is in hot water for making jokes about Mitt Romney's adopted, African-American grandchild on the air last weekend.

The comments came during a segment in which a roster of comedians were riffing on notable photos from the past year, and things went off the rails.

A photo of the Romney family with Mitt's latest grandchild, Kieran Romney, who is adopted and African-American, on Mitt's knee, sparked laughter.

“One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just isn’t the same,” sang out Pia Glenn, one of Harris-Perry’s guests on the show.

Harris-Perry herself said she would like to see the “gorgeous” child and North West, daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, get married some day.

“Can you imagine Mitt Romney and Kanye West as in-laws?” she said.

Man, 2012 was a great year for videos.

Long or short, highly produced or randomly amateur, political or sexual, musical or viral, these 12 videos spread like wildfire across the World Wide Internets.

What videos stand out as your favorites over the past 12 months? We've chosen a dozen that defined the year. Let's take a look back at 2012 in moving pictures:

12. Gotye, "Somebody That I Used to Know." Overplayed as it is dinky as it is catchy, Gotye's song may be one-hit wonder material, but that one hit was HUGE!

Cool video, too. Often imitated, never duplicated.

A man was arrested Thursday after allegedly charging a motorcade carrying former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, the U.S. Secret Service said.

No, it wasn't Romney Face Tattoo Guy ... just a random crazy guy.

Romney Heckler

Romney was making his arrival to the White House for lunch with President Obama when an unidentified man charged his car (before being quickly dealt with).

Secret Service spokesman Max Milien said that the guy was standing near a security entrance to the White House and briefly got in the motorcade's way.

President Barack Obama is a kind of a big deal in Kenya.

He was, after all, born there ... if you ask Ted Nugent.

In all seriousness, the recently reelected, Hawaiian-born Obama is half-Kenyan, as his father, the late Barack Obama Sr., was born and buried in East Africa.

His ties run deep, and Tuesday, Millicent Awuor was so inspired that she named her newborn son Barack Obama ... and his twin, born minutes later, Mitt Romney.

Obama, Romney Twins

"I named the first twin Barack and the second one Mitt," Awuor says of her bipartisan approach.

Still, she "stayed up all night and danced with joy" when she learned the 2012 election results.

Barack Obama: Natural-born U.S. citizen?

In 2000, Al Gore earned 500,000 more votes than George W. Bush, yet lost the presidency.

In 2004, Bush won by 3 million, but 60,000 more Ohio votes would've elected John Kerry.

In 2012, a close election could easily result in a winner who receives fewer votes ... again.

The Electoral College system, everybody!

Final Pre-Election Map

America's complex way of choosing a president confuses many voters. It's easy to see why:

Yahoo News' Washington bureau chief David Chalian has been fired after a shocking remark he made about Mitt Romney and his wife Ann was caught on camera.

Chalian was overheard saying that the Romneys were "not concerned at all" about Hurricane Issac and are "happy to have a party with black people drowning."

Chalian seemed to be referring to the Republican National Convention taking place in Tampa just as the Category 1 storm barreled across the Gulf of Mexico.

Yesterday, Yahoo announced it was firing Chalian, "effective immediately."

"David Chalian's statement was inappropriate and does not represent the views of Yahoo," the company said in a statement following the controversy.

"We have already reached out to the Romney campaign, and we apologize to Mitt Romney, his staff, their supporters and anyone who was offended."

Chalian released an apology Wednesday. He wrote that he was "profoundly sorry" and described his statement as an "inappropriate and thoughtless joke."

Chalian also apologized privately and publicly to the Romney campaign.

Ann Romney spoke Tuesday at the RNC, followed by V.P. nominee Paul Ryan last night. Presidential hopeful Romney takes the stage this evening.

Lowell Turpin confronted his girlfriend, allegedly with violence, over an alleged affair he felt she was having with a handsome man on Facebook.

The man Crystal Gray befriended - and whose photo was on her page - was actually presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

Suspicious that his live-in girlfriend was having an affair, the Tennessee man spotted the photo of an unknown guy and quickly became irate.

Lowell Turpin Mug Shot

A flustered Turpin, 40, “angrily demanded to know who the male was,” reported Anderson County (Tenn.) Sheriff’s Department investigators.

Gray, 38, “replied that it was a picture of Mitt Romney.”

Despite being informed that the man on Gray’s wall is the GOP candidate for President, and has 2,904,374 other friends, Turpin was not placated.

Gray said that her boyfriend “became upset because she was attempting to communicate with friends through her Facebook account.”

In a subsequent tussle over the laptop, Gray’s hand was injured as she unsuccessfully tried to stop Turpin form smashing the computer.

Gray told deputies that Turpin, pictured in the above mug shot, also punched her in the face during the encounter, which he denies.

In any case, he's in jail, and Romney sure is handsome.
