Man, 2012 was a great year for videos.

Long or short, highly produced or randomly amateur, political or sexual, musical or viral, these 12 videos spread like wildfire across the World Wide Internets.

What videos stand out as your favorites over the past 12 months? We've chosen a dozen that defined the year. Let's take a look back at 2012 in moving pictures:

12. Gotye, "Somebody That I Used to Know." Overplayed as it is dinky as it is catchy, Gotye's song may be one-hit wonder material, but that one hit was HUGE!

Cool video, too. Often imitated, never duplicated.

Mitt Romney's quote that he brought "binders full of women" into his cabinet as Governor of Massachusetts has taken on a life of its own since last night's second presidential debate.

Predictably, the comment (watch video clip above for context) has been heavily spoofed with clever array of visuals on a new Tumblr blog in the last 12 hours.

Selected memes feature a Trapper Keeper, a text from Hillary Clinton, binders from HIMYM's Barney Stinson and Hugh Hefner, and much more.

Take a look at a bunch after the jump and follow the above link for the mother lode!

A photo of a little girl gasping at Mitt Romney is making the rounds online and has resulted in an apology for the AP for not using its caption to put it in context.

Best Mitt Romney Picture

The AP's original caption said that he was posing for pictures with schoolchildren, which was true, but the wire service later updated its caption with more detail.

The Virginia girl was reacting to Romney's decision to kneel down and pose for a picture with her and her classmates, having just learned he was doing so.

According to the majority of poll respondents, Mitt Romney won the presidential debate Wednesday. Still, he produced the oddest comment of the night by a mile.

In response to a question about what government-funded programs and ventures he would cut, Mitt gave the curious example of PBS ... despite his love for Big Bird.

What would happen if Mitt actually visited Sesame Street and gave the pink slip to the affable avian giant and his puppet pals? Something along these lines:

The manager of Denver Chipotle restaurant has become an Internet celebrity thanks to a photo of himself with Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

One look at it and you'll know why:

President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are vying to spend the next four years in the White House. Current polls show a very close race shaping up for November 6.

We ask your opinion all the time on who should win the 2012 presidential election. But today, thanks to Jimmy Kimmel, we're asking ... who would win a scare-off?!

Last night, the talk-show host discussed the sales of the respective candidates' Halloween masks, pointing out that Obama was clobbering Romney in costume sales.

Kimmel then decided to find out which would scare his security guard Adelina more. Hilarious:

A comedian pretending to be a disillusioned former supporter of President Barack Obama appeared on Fox & Friends today and gave an utterly ridiculous interview.

Max Rice appeared via satellite during a segment on the staggering unemployment rate for people ages 18-24 and its impact on Obama in November's election.

Fox & Friends co-host Gretchen Carlson introduced Rice as a "recent college grad who voted for President Obama" and who "just moved out of his parents' home."

Quickly, it became obvious that Rice was pulling one over on Fox News.

Rice interrupted Carlson's introduction, saying "S'up," and then told her, "Miss USA, it's an honor." Carlson noted that she was actually Miss America, not USA.

"Miss Universe in my book," he said, going on to state that "I was a huge Obama supporter in 2008 ... I met him in third grade. I met him when I was little."

Asked why he is now supporting Mitt Romney, Rice claimed he lost a bet in a pickup basketball game. "Are you being serious about this or not?" Carlson asked.

"Yeah," Rice said. "I can't see your face right now. This is so weird."

Not to mention hilariously random. It's unclear how "not ready for prime time" Rice finagled this gig in the first place, but hopefully they have him back on.

Mitt Romney picked Paul Ryan for Vice President this morning, and apparently thinks very highly of him, as Paul received a promotion within five minutes!

Okay, not really, but in introducing the Wisconsin Congressman and rising GOP star to a Norfolk, Va., crowd, Romney finished his remarks with a gaffe:

"Join me in welcoming the next President of the United States, Paul Ryan!"

Of course ... if President Obama wins reelection, then Ryan wins the White House in 2016, Romney could be proven correct! Chances are that's not what he meant.

Mitt caught his error as Ryan made his way to the podium, then joked that "every now and then I've been known to make a mistake ... I didn't make one with this guy."

"I can tell you this, he's going to be the next Vice President of the United States."

Ryan and his budget-cutting ideas have the potential to transform the 2012 race; both parties responded to his nomination with a "game on" approach.

Support for the mix of spending cuts and tax cuts proposed by Ryan, 42, has become a litmus test on the right, and opposing them a rallying cry on the left.

What do you think: Is Paul Ryan a good choice for V.P.?

Good thing Mitt Romney won the GOP presidential nomination Tuesday night, as he may need some positive headlines to overshadow this awesome typo.

Twitter is ablaze with commentary this morning after it came to light that the Romney campaign's newly iPhone app, "With Mitt," misspelled "America."

The free app allows supporters to personalize pics superimposed with phrases like "I stand with Mitt," "Obama isn't working" and "American Greatness."

Or perhaps "Amercian" greatness would be more accurate:

Amercia

Unfortunately for the candidate - and more so the developer who gets fired - one of the slogans amusingly plasters "A Better Amercia" across the image.

"Mistakes happen," Andrea Saul, Romney Press Secretary, said in an appearance on MSNBC this morning. "I don't think any voter cares about a typo."

Probably not, but it does make for some comic relief - especially from Mitt the micro-manager - amid a steady stream of often contentious political news.

BTW, as of now, the app still had not been fixed. Programmers ...
