Nine days after Mindy McCready died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Heber Springs, Ark., her funeral took place in her hometown of Ft. Myers, Fla.

About 400 mourners filled the sanctuary of Crossroads Baptist Church, where a white hearse, escorted by police cars, delivered the singer's casket.

A large portrait of McCready graced the stage, above a casket with white roses. As McCready's songs were played, photos from her life were displayed.

Among the songs were "I'm Still Here" and "Ten Thousand Angels." The photos included a glamorous shot of her and her onetime fiance Dean Cain.

Speaking out for the first time since her suicide, he says she was deeply troubled even 15 years ago, and not just because of substance abuse issues.

It was her manipulations and lies that torpedoed their romance, Cain says.

"I'm saddened to hear of her passing, but I'm not surprised," says Cain, 46, echoing the statements made earlier this week by Mindy's ex Billy McKnight.

They lived together and were engaged, but things imploded after a year.

Criticism of VH1's Celebrity Rehab spread almost as fast.

Mindy is now the fifth celebrity cast member to die since appearing on the show, hosted by Dr. Drew Pinsky, and the third from Season 3 alone.

The Celebrity Rehab stars who died before McCready:

• Mike Starr, bassist for Alice in Chains
• Joey Kovar, a Real World participant
• Rodney King of L.A. riots fame
• Actor Jeff Conaway

Starr and Kovar overdosed, King was found dead in his pool with alcohol and marijuana in his system, Conaway died of pneumonia and an infection.

Vivid Entertainment has halted circulation of the 2010 Mindy McCready sex tape in the wake of the singer's suicide, according to news reports.

Vivid CEO Steve Hirsch says he has no plans to resume distribution of Baseball Mistress, which features McCready and her boyfriend at the time.

It's unclear when the footage was shot, but the title stems from her alleged affair with married MLB legend Roger Clemens ... who is not on the sex tape.

Mindy McCready does talk about the affair with Clemens on the video, however ... and later denied she ever authorized the release of Baseball Mistress.

Billy McKnight, Mindy McCready's ex, says what a lot of folks are probably, tragically thinking - that he's not really surprised she committed suicide.

"As sad as it is, it didn't come as a major shock," McKnight told the Today show Monday in the aftermath of Sunday's Mindy McCready death.

"She's just been battling demons for so long," he added. "I was around her when she attempted suicide twice, so I knew that this was in her."

Cleburne County, Ark., sheriff's deputies responded to a report of gunshots Sunday and discovered McCready dead of an apparent suicide.
