This Twerking thing may be getting out of control.

The Oxford Dictionary has added the word as a verb and Miley Cyrus brought the dance move to a whole new level at the MTV Video Music Awards, causing some to refer to her as racist.

And now? Well... Lil Twist has teamed with his BFF Justin Bieber and Miley on a track titled "Twerk." Seriously. For real. This thing exists.

Dare to listen to the song here:

What's next?! Will Lil Twist change his name to Lil Twerk?!

Oh no. We're gonna regret making that joke, aren't we?

Miley Cyrus Twerking, already one of the web's favorite pastimes, shocked and awed the world with last night's raunchy display at the Barclays Center.

Aggressively gyrating on Robin Thicke like a horny wild child possessed, the singer was the talk of a talked-about event ... for better or worse.

Miley Cyrus VMA Twerk

Miley pulled double duty at the event, performing a stuffed bear-themed version of "We Can't Stop," then joining Thicke for a rendition of his hit "Blurred Lines."

Only those lines weren't blurred ... they were crossed. Again and again and again.

Miles danced like a hyper-sexual human condom, one whose purpose in life is to slap butts, hump anything in sight and elicit arousal and/or laughter.

This was one for the ages, even by her standards. You can't unsee this stuff.

So follow the jump for the ultimate compilation of videos, GIFs and photos of Miley Cyrus Twerking at the Video Music Awards, like a woman possessed:

She tried to warn us, people.

In a promo for the MTV Video Music Awards, Miley Cyrus said she was coming for us.

We just didn't know such an invasion would involve a pair of horn-like knots atop her head, a midriff baring top and a bedazzled outfit with more jewels than the Royal Palace.

But that's exactly how the singer shocked fans and photographers on Brooklyn tonight. Check out her unusual outfit below and compare it to the risque number she wore for the Teen Choice Awards:

UPDATE: Miley also performed a stuffed bear-themed version of "We Can't Stop" and Twerked up A STORM on stage with Robin Thicke for a duet of "Blurred Lines." While wearing nude-colored underwear.

Miley Cyrus' Twerking has inspired a new meme, in which she Twerks in various inappropriate situations. But is it even actually Twerking that's depicted?

Miley Cyrus Handstand

Twerking, according to Wikipedia, is a portmanteau of twist and jerk, or to work it; Twerk means to "dance in a sexually suggestive twisting fashion."

Moreover, it's a "dance move that involves shaking the hips and bottom in a bouncy up and down motion, causing it to shake, 'wobble' and 'jiggle.'"

The Urban Dictionary calls it "rhythmic gyrating of lower extremities in a lascivious manner," which sums up Miley Cyrus Twerking like a woman possessed.

Is the photo used in the aforementioned meme an accurate example of it, though? Can one still Twerk if positioned like this against a wall?

Some critics say this is merely a handstand, and inconsistent with the definition of Twerking. Defenders say it's just a different expression of the dance move.

Settle this for us, THGers: Is Miley Cyrus Twerking above?

We all know that Miley Cyrus loves a good Twerk.

But did you know that Miley Twerked at The Royal Wedding? And on the set of Good Morning America? It's true, as these totally real, non-Internet created photos prove:

  • Miley Cyrus at Royal Wedding
  • Miley Cyrus on GMA Set (Sort Of)

Someone has clearly been having a lot of fun with Cyrus and the Twerking craze, similar to previous viral Memes such as Lil Wayne making it rain all over the place and McKayla Maroney not being impressed by... anything at all.

It is so on between Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus. Twerk style.

Yes, Nicki thinks Miley is cute. And Cyrus looks up to Minaj.

But Nicki stars in a new music video opposite Busta Rhymes in which she gyrates her booty for a song appropriately titled "Twerk It," a clear challenge to Miley and the dance move she made famous.

Compare Nicki Minaj Twerking with Miley and vote below:

It's a Twerk-Off! Who is the better Twerker?

The Golden Sisters are at it again.

But this time, instead of viewing the Kim Kardashian sex tape or reading 50 Shades of Grey in shock and horror, they are analyzing the dance world's latest trend:

Twerking!

Indeed, Miley Cyrus herself sent out the above video on Twitter ("Granny with a booty almost got it on da wiggle wiggle wiggle. #doyothangggg," she wrote along with it).

So much for that intense Jay-Z and Miley Cyrus feud.

Based on the lyrics to the new track "somewhereinamerica" - which appear to mock Miley and state that "only in America" could someone Twerk her way to fame - it certainly sounded as if the rapper didn't have a lot of respect for the singer.

But Jay-Z engaged in a lengthy Twitter Q&A with fans yesterday and responded to a question about Cyrus with:

"Miley is a GOD."

  • Mr. Z

He also said Twerking should replace the Electric Slide at weddings.

Jay-Z takes aim at a couple of contrasting targets on his new album.

First, he disses Scott Boras because the artist stole away one of the sports agent's clients, New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano.

Now, based on leaked lyrics to the track "somewhereinamerica," it's pretty clear he's making fun of Miley Cyrus.

Raps the superstar: “Cause somewhere in America/Miley Cyrus is still twerkin’ ..."

In news that comes as a surprise and yet somehow not, Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop" music video has been parodied! By dogs! Singing "We Can Bark!"

The brilliance of this canine spoof is in the level detail. Take a look:

"I'm a doggie, I can do what I want," the dogs declare. "I'm a puppy, I can do what I want / I can lick what I want, bark when I want, roll where I want."

Lyrically and visually, the comparisons are obvious. Some of the best:

  • "Maltey Cyrus" ditches her collar; Miley removes her bracelet
  • A pug eats a big sandwich of money, just like some dude did
  • That weird ass skull made of fries is now made of dog treats
  • A pug licks a stuffed pug; Miley mauls a Miley-esque doll
  • Dog kibble spelling BARK; alphabet soup spelling TWERK
  • Speaking of Miley Cyrus Twerking ... the dogs hold their own
  • Neither can be tamed, in different senses of the word

Watch Miley's original, much-taked-about video below for comparison:
