Miley Cyrus has signed a new deal and stood up for an old favorite cause.

The 21-year old singer is now a spokeswoman for Marc Jacobs and will be featured in that fashion designer’s Spring/Summer 2014 campaign.

She poses here in promotion of it while wearing a ruffled blue jacket and dark red shorts:

The artist also spoke out (wore out?) on the topic of marriage equality in conjunction with Jacobs yesterday.

In the latest edition of Headline Worthy Things Said By Miley Cyrus As She Continues to Prove She's No Longer Hannah Montana...

The singer gave a pair of interesting interviews this week in which she pushed for both the use of pot and the universal acceptance of gay marriage.

First, Miley - who has admitted in the past to loving marijuana and been caught smoking on video - told Australia's Style magazine that she doesn't get a "sick feeling" in her stomach when she inhales, not does any "anger" rise up in her, as it does for many when they drink.

“There’s a reason Bob Marley was like some kind of musical Rasta Mother Teresa," she joked to the publication.

Second, one of the more outspoken celebrities on the topic of gay marriage explained why the subject means so much to her. Watch both videos now:

Marijuana: Legalize it?

Gay marriage: Support or oppose?

It's small, but important and effective and it forces us to give major props to Miley Cyrus.

The singer Tweeted the words "All LOVE is Equal," last night, along with her new tattoo, which is an equal sign. Check it out below:

Cyrus has made her views on gay marriage well known over the years. She spoke out against Carrie Prejean in 2009 and she brought up the topic in contrast with the Casey Anthony verdict a few weeks ago.

In this example, someone disagreed with Miley over Twitter, which prompted the following response: "where does it say in the bible to judge others? Oh right. It doesn't. GOD is the only judge honey. 'GOD is love.'"

Miley Cyrus went after two hot topics in one Tweet today, reacting in shock to the Casey Anthony not guilty verdict... and then bringing up the state of gay marriage in California to depict how effed up our society is.

The two issues aren't exactly related - neither controversy really needs a comparison to the other in order for most to realize something is amiss - but we commend Miley for at least focusing on important current events.

We'd much rather write about her in this context than make fun of her latest outfit...
