Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino asked judge to delay his federal tax fraud case because of a previous engagement, and you're not going to believe what it is:

He's shooting Marriage Boot Camp when he's supposed to be arraigned!

The Situation: G-T-L

Seriously, The Situation's lawyers begged a judge in a letter to postpone the reality star's arraignment, since it conflicts with his reality TV career.

The former Jersey Shore star was scheduled to be arraigned October 6.

Before Mike Sorrentino got arrested for tax fraud, he and his fiancee (?!) had already signed a contract to do the show in L.A. from October 5-19.

The production company behind the series was concerned that Sitch would bail in the wake of his indictment, especially since the charges are no joke.

Except for The Amazing Race, which wins Emmys for a reason (because it's a great show), reality TV is a lot of mindless entertainment that we watch for very few discernible reasons.

Aside from living in exotic locales and the likelihood of making out with hot guys and girls, what other reason do people have for starring on reality TV shows?

Well, most of these shameless individuals see their time on reality TV as a starting ground for bigger and better things! Fame! Fortune! A #1 hit or a box office smash!

Except that doesn't usually happen, though. See below:

Farrah Abraham
Oooooh, lord. Teen Mom star Farrah Abaham wanted to be a singer, and released some absolutely horrible songs to no avail (but great amusement). She's also a terrible actress, as evidenced by her attempts to convince us her sex tape was released by mistake. Screaming is a different story, as she proved with James Deen ...

The 15 reality stars in this gallery, none of whom can act or sing but all of whom have tried, prove this point and then some. Often with hilarious results.

They hoped their reality TV shows would launch them into superstardom. They were wrong ... mostly. In the case of Farrah Abraham and Kim Kardashian?

Millions of dollars have been made, and celebrity status has been achieved. Not how they might have drawn it up when they started out, but still.

The following situation is a dire one for Mike Sorrentino.

Sources have confirmed to TMZ that the former Jersey Shore star has been indicted for tax fraud. According to the United States Attorney, Sorrentino - best known as The Situation to, well, everybody - failed to pay the full tax bill on $8.9 million in earnings.

This is where we stop to shake our heads over the fact that Sorrentino has raked in at least $8.9 million over the course of his "career."

Da Sitch

Prosecutors, who have also charged Sorrentino’s brother with the same allegations, claim The Situation intentionally filed fraudulent returns in order to make it appear he was square with the IRS.

Ouch. Teresa Giudice may be proud of Sitch for that move, but it's far from legal.

The countdown until the Magic Mike 2 premiere is on, as legions of fans of the original smash hit movie keep Channing all over their Tatums in anticipation.

Most Magic Mike fans know this was the semi-autobiographical story of Channing Tatum's days as a stripper. Well, he was far alone in that line of work:

Channing Tatum
"Magic Mike" wasn't the loosely autobiographical story of Channing Tatum for nothing! He got his start as a stripper.

No, Tatum's pole-dancing past isn't unique. Stripping is one way many of today's famous faces got their start, paying their bills prior to achieving fame.

Some of them went on to become Hollywood A-listers, and some of them went on to be, well, sort of crazy people who are famous for no discernible reason.

Check out 21 stars who used to be strippers above and see who falls into which category. Some of these former dancers may really surprise you, too.

And then there are stars who took it to another level. Yes, the celebrities who used to be porn stars ... those are surprising for even more obvious reasons:

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino was arrested at his family's tanning salon in Middletown, N.J., Tuesday. He was charged with simple assault after a fight.

About 2 p.m., police responded to calls reporting an altercation involving Situation at Boca Tanning Club, Middletown Police Det. Lt. Stephen Dollinger said.

The former MTV reality star has posted $500 bail and was released. TMZ reports that the fight was between Sorrentino and his brother Frank.

Mike also has a sweet black eye now. Looks like he lost.

Dollinger said he could not confirm who was involved in the fight, but E! News says a Twitter feud between the pair escalated quickly Tuesday afternoon.

Mike Sorrentino allegedly went to the salon to tell his brother that he was fired, setting off a skirmish, which was not the first eyebrow-raising event there.

On June 2, five employees at the salon filed police reports claiming their paychecks bounced. According to cops, each employee was owed between $100-200.

Of all the former Jersey Shore cast members, few have struggled with life post-MTV as much as Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino.

The six-packed, self-proclaimed "guido" happily took on the villain role on the popular reality series but found that by the end of the show's run, viewers and castmates alike had grown tired of his antics.

As the pressure of fame and playing the bad guy increased, The Situation fought addiction, did a stint and rehab and looked like he'd been permanently relegated to the "Where are they now?" file.

Now, it appears The Sitch will get a second shot at stardom as the TVGN network announced today that they've cast Mike and his family in a new unscripted series titled The Sorrentinos.

Jersey Shore star The Situation the target of a federal criminal investigation regarding his cash flow and business dealings, according to a new report.

Under scrutiny are Mike Sorrentino and his companies MPS Entertainment, Situation Productions, GTL Management (seriously) and Situation Nation.

Say WHAT Yo?

Why Sitch has four companies, who can say. But we're guessing they're not reporting / paying taxes on his income (our guess) according to the law.

The exact nature of the crime(s) he is suspected of (or a Person of Interest in) is unclear, but TMZ says it's a felony, and that it's all finance related.

Could he have been getting it in ... the wrong bank accounts?

Subpoenas have been issued to Mike's associates, asking for copies of payments issued to him, copies of checks, any communications, and more.

And we thought Pauly D was having a rough go of it lately. Amanda Markert and her custody drama pale in comparison to the FBI on the problem scale.

The Situation's rep has not commented on the ... situation.

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino says his addiction to painkillers and subsequent rehab stay dates back to his short-lived stint on Dancing With the Stars.

That was 2010, and he says he's still battling to stay sober.

Say WHAT Yo?

While his people initially insisted the MTV star was just suffering from exhaustion, Sitch eventually confirmed he was hooked on opiates back in 2012.

Now, the 32-year-old is talking about his battle with prescription drugs and how his addiction was so bad, he could barely dress himself at his worst.

"All I had to do was get dressed for a family function and I couldn’t do that. The shirt was laid out, the belt, the pants, everything. The shower was on."

The United States of America turns 237 years old this July 4. That's quite the milestone, and one for which we should all be grateful as we celebrate today.

A few other notables also share birthdays with the US of A, including ...

  • Mike The Situation Photo

Malia Obama, now 15. The eldest daughter of President Barack Obama, the first African-American to lead our country, she represents the American dream.

So, too, does The Situation, a man solely famous for ... who knows anymore. Jersey Shore is a thing of the past, which is probably for the best.

You have to hand it to anyone who can turn big muscles, even bigger tolerance for alcohol and a uniquely absurd vocabulary into a career, though.

Only in America. And celebrating a birthday July 4. Along with ...

Snituation

According to TMZ, which spotted him shooting, the show will center on Situation AND other members of the Sorrentino clan in the New Jersey suburbs.

ENTHRALLING TV right there, don't you think?

We'd rather watch Vanilla Ice Goes Amish.
