Talk about a great first wedding anniversary present!

While marking a year of marriage to NHL player Mike Comrie, Material Girls star Hilary Duff announced Sunday they are expecting their first child:

"I can't believe it has already been a year, time really flies when you're having fun!" she wrote. "We also want to share the exciting news that... BABY MAKES THREE!!! We are extremely happy and ready to start this new chapter of our lives."

Days before Duff's big announcement, Hilary, 23, hinted to us that she and Mike, 30, were ready to start a family in the not-so-distant future.

"I think it was important that we had a year to just do whatever," she said. "Maybe longer than that because we enjoy having so much freedom."

"But we're definitely both thinking about it."

Guess she was serious. Congrats, you two!

Mike Comrie and Hilary Duff have made it official.

The singer-actress and NHL hockey player were married Saturday during an intimate ceremony in Santa Barbara, Calif., according to reports. Congratulations!

Hilary, in a mermaid gown by Vera Wang, swapped vows with Mike in front of a sunset and 100 of their closest family and friends. She was escorted down the aisle by her mother Susan Duff, while sister Haylie Duff was maid of honor.

The couple, who began dating in 2007, first met on a trip when they both were visiting a resort in Idaho. "We were all on the same plane and it was kind of, I guess, maybe a bit of a fluke. She calls it ironic. No I'm kidding!" Comrie said.

"It [was] one of those things where we were all in a group … we spent the weekend all hanging out." One thing led to another, and the rest is history.

Comrie proposed to Hilary Duff during a Hawaiian getaway in February – a move that came as a very pleasant surprise to both the Texan and her family.

"I've never met anyone who can say a bad word about him," Duff gushed in March 2009. "He's generous, caring and sunny. We just laugh our heads off."

Man, this makes us feel old.

Hillary Duff, who we first started to follow in 2001 when she was a 14-year old Lizzie McGuire, is engaged. Long-time boyfriend, and Edmonton Oilers star, Mike Comrie popped the question to the actress in Maui this week.

This is actually the second accepted proposal between a singer and hockey player in the last couple months: Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher got engaged in late December.

Duff was most recently seen on the small screen during a six-episode arc on Gossip Girl.

We wish her and Comrie a happy, healthy life together!

Before Ottawa Senators player Mike Comrie saw the premiere of Hilary Duff's new film, Stay Cool, at the Tribeca Film Festival, he knew he'd enjoy it.

"It's always fun watching her work," he told Us in New York Thursday.

The long-distance couple say they make an effort to cheer each other on - Duff is a staple at Comrie's hockey games - whenever they get the chance.

"We have a lot of fun," the NHL star said. "We both live such different lives, but its always fun to support each other and spend time when we get to."

With Mike Comrie playing in Canada and Hilary Duff shooting across the country, the couple has few moments together in the same city.

Yet they're still going strong.

"If it's worth it, you make it work," Comrie said.

"It's natural for us, which I think is great," the Duffster added. "We both have busy jobs, and we're both very focused people, so that helps. Since we are apart so much, it's not like one person is at home waiting for the other."

Interestingly, Comrie's teammate, Mike Fisher, is also dating a cute, blonde celebrity in Carrie Underwood! Those Ottawa Senators have all the luck.

Jordin Tootoo. Nicknamed The TooToo Train, the first native of Canada's Nunavut territory to make it to the NHL was an inspiring story. When the Nashville Predators enforcer hooked up with American Idol alum and country singer Kellie Pickler this spring, it was a match made in... an alternate universe. But a happy one just the same. That is, until he messed around on Kellie, who later told a sold-out crowd that her new theme song is Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" and said she hoped Jordin Tootoo's teeth would be knocked out in a game. [*whistle*] You can take that TooToo Train straight to the penalty box, Jordin.

Sean Avery. The 27-year-old New York Rangers winger already has 913 career penalty minutes, and his off-ice exploits have certainly landed him in the sin bin of love more than once. Sean Avery is supposedly dating Mary-Kate Olsen and has been linked to Rachel Hunter and Elisha Cuthbert. He is also rumored to be the subject of Justin Timberlake's "What Goes Around... / ...Comes Around."

CUP CONTENDERS

Mike Comrie. Hilary Duff is known for being a good girl among raunchy celebs, but Mike Comrie is melting her ice! The two have been dating since July, and recent reports have Hilary gettin' freaky with the Islanders center - in public no less! The 2000 Hobey Baker Award finalist is now on his fifth NHL team, but it looks like he might be on Team Duff for quite some time.

Mike Modano. In December 2006, Mike Modano signed a lifetime deal with singer, Playboy centerfold and Dancing with the Stars alum Willa Ford. The former #1 overall pick has always known how to light the lamp (507 times career), and he's certainly lit a fire with Willa Ford. Modano hoisted the Stanley Cup in 1999, but snaring a trophy (wife) like this might be his best career goal.
