The First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, lovingly praised her husband Tuesday night in a prime-time Democratic National Convention speech.

Michelle called President Barack Obama caring father at home and a "man we can trust" to revive the nation's weak economy despite its slow recovery.

"He reminds me that we are playing a long game here ... and that change is hard, slow and never happens all at once," she told the Charlotte, N.C. crowd.

"But eventually, we will get there, we always do."

Michelle Obama's well-received speech blended scenes from 23 years of marriage with Barack to the couple's time in the White House since 2009.

Obama confided that at family dinners in the White House with their two daughters, the president joins in "strategizing about middle school friendships."

The self-described "mom in chief" made no mention of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney in a distinctly positive, and inspiring, personal appeal to voters.

Those who preceded her to the podium had plenty to say about Romney, however.

Julian Castro's DNC keynote speech drew a sharp contrast between what he described as Obama's opportunity society and his opponent's candidacy of no.

Fuera de Serie, a Spanish magazine, has sparked controversy with its new cover depicting Michelle Obama as a 19th Century French slave. Seriously.

The First Lady of the United States' face is superimposed over "Portrait d'une négresse," a famous painting by French artist Marie-Guillemine Benoist.

The painting from 1800 depicted a female French slave in a headdress and white gown, one breast exposed. Now Michelle Obama is shown as such:

Michelle Obama Topless Slave Cover

The painting was finished just six years after France's abolition of slavery and has been regarded by art historians as a commentary on both sexism and racism.

Not surprisingly, the image has many critics in the U.S. and Europe wondering if the cover was designed to be more provocative than political ... ya think?!

For its part, the magazine lauds Michelle Obama as the "gran mujer" (great woman) behind her powerful husband. An excerpt of the cover story reads:

"In the shadow of the U.S. President is a person whose popularity ratings exceed those of Barack’s own. This person is none other than his wife Michelle."

"To find out how Michelle has managed to seduce the American people, [we] detail the secrets of a woman who has won [America's hearts]."

Many believe it smacks of racism and reinforces the historical denial of black female individuality, but artist Karine Percheron-Daniels stands by it.

In fact, she thinks Michelle would "love" the picture and would love to show it to Mrs. Obama one day. We wouldn't hold our breath if we were Karine.

What do you think of this Michelle Obama cover?

The bond between Beyonce and Michelle Obama just grew a little stronger.

In May, the First Lady took her daughters to a Knowles concert, a night out that followed a Tumblr post by Beyonce that praised Obama as "ULTIMATE example of a strong African-American woman."

Obama, in turn, responded to the praise with a Tweet that read: "Thank you for the beautiful letter and for being a role model who kids everywhere can look up to.”

Now, Beyonce has made that letter even more public, posting a video reading of it that serves as a campaign ad for Michelle's husband, given the donation link at the end. Watch now:

A D.C. police officer has been taken off a motorcycle escort for White House officials after he allegedly threatened to shoot First Lady Michelle Obama.

Not only that, the officer "then used his phone to retrieve a picture of the firearm he said he would use," according to a Washington Post report.

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating and the Secret Service has been told of the alleged Michelle Obama threat, the Post says.

The alleged comment came Wednesday as officers from the Special Operations Division discussed threats against President Barack Obama.

It was not immediately clear where the alleged conversation took place or exactly how many officers were taking part in the conversation.

During that conversation, the officer allegedly said he would shoot the First Lady, then used his phone to show the firearm he said he would use.

It was not immediately clear what type of firearm was shown.

While Rush Limbaugh mocks Barack Kardashian, the First Lady of the U.S. is staying out of the political fray and focusing on her new book about gardening.

The controversial new biography of President Barack Obama claims that his wife, Michelle Obama, planned to leave the future president in 2000.

Is the divorce story real? Is anything in the book?

The unauthorized biography, which Klein claims is based on nearly 200 interviews, has been dismissed by presidential spokesperson Eric Schultz.

"Ed Klein has a proven history of reckless fabrication in order to sell books," he said. "Nobody in their right mind would believe the nonsense in this one."

Nevertheless, the Obama divorce story is the latest revelation in the book - which also discusses his ex Genevieve Cook - to generate major buzz.

In The Amateur: Barack Obama in the White House, out this week, Klein claims the divorce nearly happened eight years into the Obamas' marriage.

After Obama failed to listen to his wife's warnings in challenging Bobby Rush for his U.S. House seat in 2000 and got creamed, their relationship cooled.

“During the dark days that followed his defeat, he turned to Michelle for comfort. But she was in no mood for sympathy," Klein reportedly writes.

Michelle Obama posed for a photo this week with her dog, Bo.

Not particularly newsworthy, we realize ... but CUTE worthy!

"He is my son," the First Lady told David Letterman earlier this week about the adorable Portuguese Water Dog's role in her life. "I have two girls – and a boy."

Michelle Obama has always said that she considers herself the Mom-in-Chief, and in true mom form, she had nothing but praise for her furry "kid."

"Bo is wonderful. He is the smartest dog on the planet."

When Dave expressed doubts about Portuguese water dogs and their allegedly perfect behavior, the First Lady assured him that Bo has nothing but positive qualities.

"He's a very sweet dog. I'm not being biased. He's very well-mannered, he's very even-tempered ... He has a very busy schedule, appearances."

"I'm thinking about getting him an agent."

In a visit to The Late Show with David Letterman Monday, First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama discussed her relationship with her own parents.

An emotional Michelle, who considers herself the mother of Sasha and Malia above everything else, said her parents instilled in her the values she passes on.

They provided "absolute, complete, unconditional love ... the notion that kids really don't need anything but to know that their parents adore them."

She said she and the president have passed that trait onto their children: "Don't make me cry: This isn't Oprah!” she said. “It's supposed to be Letterman!"

Michelle Obama also discussed her recent incognito trip to Target, which was figured out when a woman asked her to help reach something on a high shelf.

The 48-year-old, who stands 5'10", said after she obliged, the grateful woman joked with her, "You didn't have to make it look so easy!"

"That was my interaction, and it felt so good!" she said.

First Lady Michelle Obama talks the talk and walks the walk.

When the 48-year-old campaigns for the importance of health and physical fitness, she leads by example, as she proved today on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in L.A.

Michelle Obama accepted a bold challenge by DeGeneres to see who could do the most push-ups, with both women flinging off their dress coats on the spot.

Who won? Watch the video here and see!

“How many was that for her?” asked DeGeneres after tapping out early (but by no means embarrassingly early) and both women had finished. “Twenty five?”

“I just stopped,” said the smiling First Lady.

Sorry Ellen. On the bright side, you hung in there for a while, and there's no way Jay Leno (whose show Michelle visited Tuesday) could do even one.
