Having hit Ireland yesterday, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama touched down in London Tuesday for an official state visit to the UK.

On the agenda? Meeting Prince William and Kate Middleton!

Having just returned from their honeymoon in the Seychelles, the newlyweds happily greeted Barack and Michelle Obama in Buckingham Palace. Check it out:

Prince William, Kate Middleton, Barack and Michelle Obama

"So last week I caught a fish this big ..."

Britain's golden couple were still glowing from their royal wedding and subsequent retreat off the east coast of Africa as they talked with the First Family.

Chatting with the First Lady, Kate Middleton looked wonderful in a tan, form-fitting dress. William and Barack look engrossed in a talk about ... something!

Upon their arrival at the Palace Tuesday, the Obamas were also greeted by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, who gave them a tour of the premises.

As expected, some well-known Fox News "journalists" were all fired up about Common's White House visit this week, during which the rapper read a poem.

As expected, Jon Stewart took them to task in an EPIC rant last night.

In typical Stewart fashion, he shredded their argument by simply using Fox News' own words against it, making the network look like an absolute joke:

You wouldn't assume a Comedy Central show would be more trustworthy than a quote-unquote news channel, but it's fairly obvious that's the case here.

Regardless of whether Common should have been asked to attend Michelle Obama's poetry event, Fox News is just pulling stuff out of its collective arse.

Between their obvious hypocrisy, misquoting of Common and twisting anything to stir up controversy, it was not their best week, even by their low standards.

Amidst controversy from conservatives, Common performed a spoken word piece at the White House in celebration of American poetry and prose last night.

Among other critics, Sarah Palin ripped Common and the Obamas for inviting the rapper/actor, given his former harsh words against former President Bush.

In any event, Common brought Chi-town to the White House as Barack and Michelle Obama hosted a poetry night in the "People's House." Watch him here:

Did he just anoint Barack some kind of king at the end there?

It's unclear, but that was pretty cool. After all of the controversy of the last few days, Common responded by doing what he was invited there for, delivering a beautiful poem. He also addressed the criticism of his visit on Facebook.

“Politics is politics and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I respect that,” he said. “The one thing that shouldn’t be questioned is my support for the police officers and troops that protect us every day. Peace yall!”

Well put. Read the full text of his poem after the jump:

Former half-term governor and current famous person Sarah Palin slammed Michelle Obama on Twitter today for inviting Common to the White House.

Her beef? Palin and some others aren't thrilled that the rapper and actor promotes healthy diets once rhymed about burning President George W. Bush.

"Oh lovely, White House," tweeted the ex-veep hopeful, making sarcastic reference to a story on Common and Michelle Obama in the Daily Caller.

Palin Common

The conservative website resurrected a Common aimed at Dubya by transcribing lyrics from a 2007 YouTube video of a past performance of "Letter to the Law."

"Seeing a fiend being hung/With that happening, why they messing with Saddam?/Burn a Bush 'cause for peace he no push no button," goes the song.

Common continues: "Killing over oil and grease/no weapons of destruction/How can we follow a leader when this a corrupt one."

Michelle Obama can do the Running Man? And Dougie? Who knew!

Last week, we saw Beyonce's "Move Your Body" video, created in support of the First Lady's initiative to combat childhood obesity across America.

Below, Michelle Obama returns the favor, showing off some moves of her own and gettin' funky to B's hit song, all in the name of a healthy lifestyle.

The Obamas do have a lot to dance about this week ...

President Obama sat down for a talk with Oprah Winfrey yesterday (it will air on her show Monday) and discussed the controversy over his birthplace.

Focused on Obama's birth certificate, or lack thereof (he released it this week), the “birther” movement questioned his citizenship and eligibility for office.

Contemplative Michelle

Typical of our Commander-in-Chief, he laughed it off.

Obama looked relaxed as he said of the birth certificate controversy: “Can I just say I was there, so I knew. I knew I had been born. I remember it.”

Barack can joke about "birthers" ... at least a little.

First Lady Michelle Obama, sitting by her husband’s side, raised her hands and said: “He was born here!” But clearly they only find it funny to a point.

President Obama went on to lambast the critics of his birthplace as “carnival barkers going around trying to get attention instead of solving problems”.

Beyonce wants you to "Move Your Body" and be healthy!

This remixed version of B's hit "Get Me Bodied" and accompanying video was created to benefit Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" campaign.

The First Lady's initiative campaign to fight obesity has drawn criticism from Sarah Palin (but what hasn't). Beyonce is all for it, though.

Watch the singer break it down in a school cafeteria, wearing short shorts and knee socks and promoting healthy eating and exercise!

The video will be distributed to junior high schools across the country to, as B puts it, promote the benefits of living and eating well.

Beyonce said of the video that "What we want to do is make it fun by doing something that we all love to do, and that's dance."

Dance she will - and so will schools across the country, who will perform the dance moves during a broadcast on Tuesday, May 3!

Pretty cool, right? Between this and the release of President Obama's birth certificate, it's been a good day for the First Family.

Melania Trump wants to make a couple of things clear:

She won't say if he's decided to run yet, but that she "will support him no matter what he decides" and says he's not alone in his "birther" suspicion.

Donald and Melania Trump Picture

"Well I think it's not only my husband that wants to see the birth certificate. I think it's a lot of people who voted for him and who didn't vote for President Obama."

Melania, a native of Slovenia, says people are just frustrated.

"They ask where it is and why he doesn't show it. Does he have it? Where is it? Why not show it? What's the big deal? I'd show [mine]. What's the problem?"

Hawaii state officials swear that they have inspected Obama's original document and a Certificate of Live Birth was released during the 2008 campaign.

Trump has been called out by George Stephanopoulos, Bill O'Reilly and many others for beating what some think is a dead horse, but he persists.

Just today, he called in to Fox News to say "I think I've made my decision" on running and he vowed to continue to talk about Obama's citizenship.

The First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, was just named the "hottest" political figure in Quinnipiac University’s “national thermometer poll.”

The poll gauged voters’ feelings toward 23 national political figures.

TD, Michelle!

Michelle Obama registered 60.1 degrees. Husband Barack Obama, came in fourth behind former President Bill Clinton and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

The poll measures popularity in degrees on a thermometer, with 100 the highest score. While we have no problem with Michelle, this is funny for two reasons:

  1. That Michelle Obama and Bill Clinton are even on it, as they don't actually have to govern anything and anger people ... that helps the popularity.
  2. The temperature scale seems even more arbitrary than our +/- Jersey Shore recap system. Is 60.1 degrees high? Low? Who knows!

Among the Republicans considering a White House run in 2012, Mike Huckabee scored best with 51.8 degrees, Natalie Portman bashing and all.

For whatever it's worth, Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi finished last in this latest poll, with a temperature of 32.9 degrees.
