The First Lady of United States, Michelle Obama, is making history again – this time by becoming only the second president's wife to appear on the cover of Vogue.

Michelle Obama was photographed by famed shooter Annie Leibovitz at the Hay-Adams Hotel, where the Obamas stayed before last month's inauguration.

While nearly every first lady – beginning with Herbert Hoover's wife, Lou, in 1929 – has been photographed for the fashion bible, only Hillary Rodham Clinton was featured on the cover, in December 1998, according to a Vogue spokesman.

Michelle Obama's previous portrait in the magazine back in 2007 catapulted her to fashion fame. Here's a look at that photo of "The Natural" ...

Michelle Obama: Vogue

In the March issue of the magazine, the cover of which appears below, Michelle Obama is seen wearing a magenta dress by Jason Wu, who designed her inaugural gown, and also pictured in a black dress by Narciso Rodriguez.

Vogue editor Anna Wintour writes, "Change was the clarion call of Barack Obama's campaign, but I don't think any of us at Vogue initially realized that would include the difference that was going to be made by First Lady Michelle Obama's wardrobe. It's inspiring to see our first lady so serene and secure in her personal style."

With the Democratic National Convention in full swing this week, People has a cool interview with Sens. Barack Obama and Joe Biden, along with their lovely spouses, Michelle Obama and Jill Biden. Here's the beginning ...

Q: This is the first mate you've chosen since Michelle.

Barack Obama: That's a good point.

Michelle Obama: Barack is looking for people who will challenge him, who will tell him no.

Barack Obama: That's exactly what you need [in a vice-president].

Michelle Obama: That's why he married me. (Laughs.) So I'd tell Sen. Biden, don't pull any punches.

Q: Now, if Sen. Biden starts yelling at you about picking up your socks ...

Barack Obama: Then we're in trouble. Don't do that, Joe.

Joe Biden: Don't worry.

Q: How did you pop the question?

Barack Obama: I called his office and they had to hunt him down. When I finally got him, he said he was at the dentist's. I realized later that he was being a doting husband, looking after [Jill Biden] during a root canal.

Q: How did Sen. Biden tell the family?

Jill Biden: My granddaughter, Maisy, turned 8 and we were having a little birthday party for her. We had just finished blowing out the candles and were cutting the cake. Joe said to everybody, 'Hey, I have something that I'd like to announce.' And he said, 'Barack called me and asked me to be vice-president.' Everybody – I get so emotional when I think about it – everybody clapped and started hugging.

This week's Us Weekly looks like a good one.

Angelina Jolie talking about sex during pregnancy. Linda Hogan's romance with Charlie Hill. The inside scoop on the Lauren-Audrina cat fight.

The crazy thing: all of those stories don't even get top billing! That would given to (drum roll please) aspiring First Lady Michelle Obama!

Michelle and Barack Obama: America's next first couple?

Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential candidate, says that his wife is an "extraordinary mother" to daughters Malia, 9, and Sasha, 7.

"Nothing is more important to Michelle than being a good mother," Barack Obama told the celebrity gossip publication. "She works every day to instill in our girls the same values we were raised with."

Sen. Barack Obama formally clinched the Democratic nomination for president this week, following a long and tumultuous primary season.

To celebrate (or just to generate publicity), his wife, Michelle Obama, will co-host ABC's The View June 18, the network said Wednesday.

President and Mrs. Obama

The lovely Michelle Obama and the annoying Barbara Walters will be side by side when the potential First Lady co-hosts the popular daytime talk show.

In other View news today, Rosie O'Donnell said that Elisabeth Hasselbeck is attractive. For once in her life, that gargoyle hit the nail on the head.

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have the support of their spouses. That is obvious to anyone who knows about them. But what's less expected are their first-person pieces arguing for the candidates they know best in the latest issue of Us Weekly.

"I tell people I am married to the answer," Michelle Obama, 44, wrote to the celebrity news magazine. "If I weren't married to him, I'd still want a Barack Obama presidency right now " not in four or eight years, but now."

As the spousal counterpart of Michelle Obama, Bill Clinton wrote his own column.

"I'm really proud of Hillary's campaign - the big goals she's setting for America and the plans she has to achieve them. For most of her adult life, Hillary Clinton was a public servant without a public office," the former President of the U.S. said.

The full columns? We'll have to wait for those.

We enjoy both Bill Clinton and Michelle Obama and think it's very cool they did this. We also like Cindy McCain, who was for some reason not profiled by the publication for this feature. Oh well, maybe next time, Cindy.
