First Lady Michelle Obama's first trip to New York City since her husband was elected President left audiences floored in more ways than one.

She drew raves at the Time 100 Most Influential People Awards at the Time Warner Center for both her stunning floor-length navy blue gown from high-end French designer Azzedine Alaia and her touching keynote address Tuesday.

Her hip pink sneakers did not make an appearance this time around, but that's probably a good thing. Here's Michelle's latest fashion statement:

This was just part of a busy, fashionable day for Michelle Obama, who also donned a Tracy Feith dress for a meet-and-greet at the U.S. mission to the UN.

The previous day, she looked casual, yet chic at a Hispanic Heritage event at the Latin American Montessori Bilingual Public Charter School in D.C., worked in the garden, and dressed back up for a Cinco de Mayo celebration at the White House.

Oh, and she even made time for dinner with Oprah!

Here's a look more Michelle Obama pictures from this week, along with some highlights from the stylish First Couple's first months in the White House ...

As if her multi-colored cardigan collection, affinity for reasonable J.Crew outfits and endless supply of adorable Jimmy Choo heels weren't enough ...

... Michelle Obama now rocks sneakers?

Yesterday, the First Lady of the United States and member of People's 100 Most Beautiful list visited the Capital Area Food Bank in D.C., where she helped assemble more than 2,000 bags of food for hungry children. How nice.

But what was even more awesome was her fashion - Michelle wore a typical J.Crew sweater, natch, but paired them with gray sneaks with a pink toe. OMG!

Well, technically they're not sneakers, according to fashion experts, just shoes - really unexpected ones by Lanvin that cost $540 at Barneys, in fact.

So they might not sell out as quickly as some previous Michelle Obama fashion ensembles. But hey, still neat. What other First Lady could pull this off!

Amid an economic recession so bad that world markets are expected to shrink for the first time in six decades, and a world more unstable each day due to proliferation of nuclear weapons and threat of terrorism, Americans are dying to know ...

How is first dog Bo doing these days?

"He's kind of crazy, but he's still a puppy. So he likes to play a lot," First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama told visiting children at the White House for the annual Take Your Child to Work Day on Thursday.

"It was like 10 o'clock. Everybody was asleep and we hear this barking and jumping around. The president and I thought somebody was out there. It was just Bo, playing with his ball. It was like there was another person in the house."

The 6-month-old Portuguese water dog, who's getting even more attention than Michelle Obama fashion these days, "loves to chew on people's feet," she added.

Asked how she spends her free time, Michelle said, "Well, right now I'm taking care of this puppy. So I'm doing a lot of dog walking and dog training."

One child asked what she would she do if Bo ran away.

"I would be very sad, first of all, but ... he has [dog] tags, and hopefully someone would find him and bring him back," Michelle Obama said.

If he were to somehow escape the gated South Lawn, "I think everyone at the White House would probably help go out and find him," she said.

"We're working on training him, so he doesn't run away and listens when we call him. So far he's doing OK. We hope we don't have that problem!"

Give it up, Republicans. Look to 2016.

Approval ratings for Barack Obama might drop a bit if the economy continues to tank, but the President took a step this week that ensures his popularity will remain, even in the face of rising employment rates and populist outage:

He got a puppy!

Not just any puppy, but one with "star quality," as Obama described Bo, adding: "That's a good-looking dog, let's face it."

It's also a good-looking family the President has gathered together. He, Michelle, Malia and Sasha took the First Dog out for a walk this week:

Malia says her new Portuguese water dog is "perfect." Do you agree?

Not exactly.

The First Lady's appeal is widespread, but she hasn't emerged as a celebrity magazine-selling fixture equivalent to the late Princess of Wales, despite publishers' hopes.

Vogue's March cover story on Michelle Obama called her "The First Lady the World's Been Waiting For." No doubt she's been embraced by the media world, appearing on magazine cover after cover, from People and Us Weekly to Newsweek.

Michelle Obama fashion is all the rage these days, and her approval ratings are quite high, but magazine sales of issues featuring the First Lady are mixed.

A Michelle cover doesn't hurt a general-interest magazine, the numbers suggest, but it doesn't produce more than an occasional lift either. New York magazine's March 23 issue (below) looks to have produced only average sales.

When Michelle appears in a magazine with strong African-American readership, however, or when she appears with the president, sales seem to jump more.

Essence, O and Ebony covers featuring Michelle solid far more copies than usual.

Celeb gossip magazines are mixed. Us Weekly's November 17 cover, "Their Amazing Journey," sold 923,161 copies, 16 percent more than average. Yet summer's "Michelle Obama - Why Barack Loves Her" cover sold just 2 percent above average.

On the bottom end? The September Ladies' Home Journal, picturing both Obamas, sold 182,233 copies - 21 percent below average. Although the teaser about saving money at the pump didn't help. Way to play up your cover photo.

One is a role model, the other a fashion model.

One likes to bare arms (her own arms, that is).

The other - well, she's been known to bare it all.

With a high-five for a young singer and a hug for as many girls as she could reach, First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama continued her trip to London today with an inspirational visit to a group of high school teens.

At the all-girl Elizabeth Garret Anderson Language School, Michelle delivered her first major address of the European tour, then turned to some of the performers who had entertained her and embraced all those onstage.

Here's the wife of Barack Obama dressed fashionably as always and spreading the love in the form of a high-five with a lucky British high-schooler ...

According to the Chicago Tribune, Michelle has officially become one of the fab four of the political fashion world in the modern era - joining the elite group of Jacqueline Kennedy, French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and Princess Diana.

Obama already has established her individuality through her fashion choices, but with a self-assurance and far-reaching influence similar to her predecessors.

Michelle Obama may be the First Lady of the United States, but the mother of two is still a fan of the (relatively) affordable fashion from J.Crew she lauded during her husband's campaign for the White House last year.

While across the pond in London for Thursday's G20 summit, she wore J.Crew head to toe on Wednesday - a pencil skirt, tank and cardigan ensemble from the store.

Total cost of Michelle Obama's outfit? $474. A sizable sum of cash, yes. But nowhere near Cindy McCain territory. And for a First Lady and celebrity with pretty much the whole world of couture to choose from, it's downright cheap.

Here's Michelle Obama in London today ...

Michelle Obama waves to fashion fans. Or just British citizens.
