Melissa Rycroft Dancing with the Stars

In a somewhat surprising ending to the final Dancing With the Stars results show of the season, reality star Melissa Rycroft was named the winner Tuesday night.

Rycroft, who finished third in 2009's Season 8, edged out Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson, who many thought would become a two-time DWTS champion.

“My mind went blank for a minute,” Melissa Rycroft told reporters after the show as to what she was thinking when host Tom Bergeron announced her as the winner.

“When we were standing there with Shawn and Derek (Hough) I assumed it’d be them. After I realized it was our names, I said, ‘Oh, my God! How did this just happen?’”

The fall season of Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars came down to tonight, with the Olympic gymnast and soap opera star seeking their second Mirror Ball.

Did they add to their trophy case? Or did The Bachelor winner enter the winner's circle for the first time after entering part two of the finale as a slight favorite?

Based on Monday's Dancing With the Stars scores, Melissa held a narrow edge, but all have been so consistently solid, America couldn't really get it wrong.

Dancing with the Stars' first-ever all-female finale kicked off Monday, with Shawn Johnson, Melissa Rycroft and Kelly Monaco competing for the Mirror Ball trophy.

The Fierce Five even made an appearance in this girl power hour!

Dancing with the Stars marked the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson's Bad with MJ-themed routines, as well as a more unusual set of dances last night.

First, the pairs performed mixed-up routines, blending uncommon styles with unusual themes. Then, they celebrated Bad with traditional ballroom numbers.

Melissa Rycroft was not about to let a little pain slow her down.

The reality star, who was hospitalized with a neck injury after getting hurt in rehearsal, took the floor with the rest of her partners to perform the group's freestyle dance.

The song? "Call Me Maybe." Obviously.

"It was diagnosed as a herniated disc in my upper neck," she told host Tom Bergeron beforehand. "I officially got cleared, so we're gonna give it a go."

Rycroft, Shawn Johnson, Sabrina Bryan, Apolo Anton Ohno and their partners gave the crowd a stellar effort, earning a score of 29.5 points a piece.

Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars cast member Melissa Rycroft took a nasty spill and was rushed to an L.A. hospital Sunday, according to reports.

She suffered a head and neck injury during rehearsals.

The Texas beauty and former Bachelor star's rep said:

"Melissa was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where she is currently being examined."
