McKayla Maroney and her "Fierce Five" U.S. women's gymnastics teammates appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman Tuesday night, where the host had them show off their best "McKayla Maroney is not impressed" faces.

"It is pretty funny," said Maroney, 16, of the meme that's taken over the web. "After I did it, the girls kept pointing it out, 'You're doing that face again.'"

"Every time she does it, we're like, 'There it is!'" teammate Aly Raisman said. "We've all been working on it." The girls then showed off their best McKayla.

McKayla's priceless, apathetic reaction to winning a mere silver medal in the vault has been applied to everything from the Dwight Howard trade to the Grand Canyon.

She even spoofed it herself in a funny Instagram photo at the London Olympics, where the girls became the first U.S. team champions since 1996.

Give McKayla Maroney a lot of credit.

The Olympic gymnast is showing a sense of humor about the Internet meme spoofing her hilariously smug, indifferent reaction to winning a mere silver - not gold - medal in individual vault competition last week.

Here's McKayla and friends getting in on the act:

Her Fierce Five teammate, Aly Raisman, tweeted a pic of Maroney, Kyla Ross and herself standing outside a swimming pool and playfully sneering.

Making the same expression that launched the McKayla Maroney is NOT impressed and its many classic images on Tumblr, the girls look far from thrilled.

Hey, if the Dwight Howard trade doesn't impress McKayla, how do you think she's gonna react when the pool's unexpectedly closed? Exactly.

McKayla Maroney is not impressed by much.

She's just hard to please ... don't blame a girl for having high expectations of herself and others. The Olympics' funniest Internet meme continues today with the U.S. gymnastics standout still not impressed by various people and events.

Specifically, the Dwight Howard trade ... the rest of the NBA may be shaking in its collective high-tops, but one sports star is so like, "Whatever."

McKayla Maroney's brutally honest, unmoved reaction after winning the silver medal and not the gold in the Olympic individual vault competition earlier this week has spawned a hilarious Internet meme starring the American gymnast.

If you missed it, here's McKayla's expression:

McKayla is Not Impressed

Hey, you can't blame a girl for her high standards, or for wearing her heart (and look of disappointed apathy) on her sleeve. She just expects better.

This demanding philosophy extends to all facets of Maroney's life, it turns out.

According to a new Tumblr created in honor of the exacting vault queen, McKayla is not impressed by the well-endowed U.S. rowing team either ...

She'll always have one of the most memorable moments of the London Olympics, a nearly perfect vault during the gymnastic team finals.

But McKayla Maroney will NOT have a Gold Medal to show for her efforts in that individual event, as she fell while landing yesterday and was forced to settle for Silver behind Sandra Raluca Izbasa of Romania.

A Fall

"I didn't deserve to to win gold if I landed on my butt," the 16-year old California native told reporters after the competition. "I'm not disappointed about the silver, I'm disappointed about my performance."

Maroney earned scores of 15.866 and 14.300 on her first two vault, respectively. She finished with an overall 15.083, while Izbasa garnered 15.191.

"It happens, it's gymnastics and you can't be perfect and sometimes things don't go as you planned," Maroney told Dan Wetzel of Yahoo! Sports. "I can't blame it on anything except I screwed up."

A near-perfect vault by McKayla Maroney was probably the biggest highlight of the U.S. women's gymnastics team's Olympic gold medal win last night - even if the judges inexplicably docked her a quarter of a point.McKayla Maroney Photo

McKayla, 16, nailed the vault, showcasing the Amanar - a tricky, near-impossible skill that just a handful of gymnasts in the world can do - with such precision, her coach couldn't believe her score wasn't the maximum.

"It. Was. The. Best. Vault. Ever," Marta Karolyi said.

Watch below and you'll see, it's hard to argue that:

You'll have another chance to watch McKayla Maroney go for gold this week in the individual vault event. Don't be surprised to see her post a 16.5 then.
