Matt Lauer, you've been served. By your very own co-worker.

During a segment on The Today Show this morning, Lauer, Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie were interviewing a few Olympic rowers when the topic turned to the latter's post-race traditions, which include tossing teammates into the water. Joked the host:

"The tradition here in New York is you throw her in the Hudson River."

Roker then jumped in with: "Which is different than OUR tradition ... which is you throw one of us under the bus, but that’s another story."

The anchors laughed, but everyone must have been aware of Roker's reference: Lauer is considered the main reason why Ann Curry was unceremoniously fired from her Today Show post earlier this summer.

Oh, to have been a fly on the set wall when the show went to commercial.

Savvy viewers noted it: Ann Curry did not look Matt Lauer in the eye during his farewell speech to her on Curry's final day as The Today Show co-host. She also barely acknowledged his hug.

Now we know why: according to an Us Weekly source, Lauer was "100 percent behind Ann leaving" the morning program after just one year, with the reporters "really icy to each other" in the days leading up to the official ousting.

"She refused to speak to him all week," an insider said of Curry.

Ann Curry and Matt Lauer

Curry has been demoted to foreign correspondent for NBC, while Savannah Guthrie now occupies her chair alongside Lauer.

But it didn't go unnoticed by many that Curry didn't officially introduce Guthrie last week, and on Savannah's first full day as co-host, nary a word was spoken about the woman she replaced.

Somewhere, Conan O'Brien is feeling Curry's pain.

Matt Lauer will soon head to London in order to cover the Summer Olympics for The Today Show and, according to a new report, wife Annette Roque will attend the event along with her three kids.

A fun family vacation? Not exactly.

Matt Lauer, Wife

Sources tell Radar Online that Roque continues to be wary of her husband, specifically his relationship with reporter Natalie Morales, and that she's only headed overseas to keep "tabs" on Lauer.

"Annette and the kids will all be going to the Olympics so she can keep very close tabs on Matt," an insider says of the couple. "Matt and his family will be staying at a different hotel than the rest of the cast and crew. Annette generally doesn't like to accompany Matt when he travels for work, but... [she] has made no bones about the fact she will be keeping close tabs on Matt."

Roque actually filed for divorce from Lauer in 2006 - while pregnant with the couple's third child - but then recanted.

An earlier story claimed Roque once again would have filed if Morales had been named new co-anchor of Today. The gig instead has gone to Savannah Guthrie.

If you tuned in to NBC's Today for the first time Friday and observed Savannah Guthrie alongside Matt Lauer, you'd never have known Ann Curry existed.

The morning show opened with Guthrie and Lauer behind the desk, minus the usual voiceover announcing the anchors or graphics identifying them.

Matt and Savannah simply launched right into the news.

Even at 9 a.m., when Savannah Guthrie typically handles the bulk of the show's content, there was zero mention of the shakeup, which became official with Ann Curry's farewell speech on Today not even 24 hours prior.

Instead, she, Lauer and Al Roker segued from a Maroon 5 performance to local news, weather and Guthrie running solo on the first segment of the hour.

She later was joined by Roker and Natalie Morales, who was reportedly in the running to replace Curry (which could have led to Matt Lauer's divorce).

Though Guthrie (pictured) is presumed to be Curry’s successor, especially after what we witnessed today, NBC has yet to make an official announcement.

Ann Curry is out as co-host of The Today Show, Savannah Guthrie is in and Matt Laurer's marriage is safe.

Wait... what?!?

The National Enquirer claims Lauer's wife, Annette Roque, was very concerned that her husband was pushing for long-time correspondent Natalie Morales to take over the seat next to him every morning, a situation that allegedly would have led to Roque filing for divorce.

Why? Well, take a look at Morales...

"When she heard about Ann getting the boot, the first thing she told Matt was she didn't want him cozying up any closer to Natalie," a tabloid source said of Lauer and Roque.

"In fact, Annette drew a line in the sand and said if he pushed show bosses to make Natalie his new co-host, she'd divorce him."

This isn't the first time that split rumors have sprung up between this couple.

In May 2010, insiders also told the Enquirer that Lauer was having an affair. Nothing came of the story, the marriage remained intact and now, thanks to the hiring of Guthrie, it appears as if the same applies here.

Chris Rock absolutely roasted Chris Brown on the Today Show Thursday in an off-the-cuff bit that left Matt Lauer, Al Roker and Elmo at a loss for words.

As Matt was coming back from commercial, he referenced the lovely New York City weather, which he hopes holds up for Brown's concert Friday.

"We're hoping the same kind of weather hits us tomorrow when we've got Chris Brown out on the plaza," said Lauer. And then this happened:

Rock, of course, never lets a good domestic violence joke go to waste.

"Did you say you hope the same weather HITS you? I hope some weather doesn't SMACK us upside the head," the comedian joked, making an obvious reference to Chris Brown's signature career achievement, beating the heck out of Rihanna.

The entire Today crew couldn't contain their laughter, which is especially funny when you consider that Brown is performing on the show tomorrow.

Sorry, Team Breezy, but there's just no defending your man anymore.

  • Dressy Kate Middleton

And as they do every year, the weekly magazine asks other famous faces to share a few kind words about those being honored, which is pretty cool.

For instance, Pink notes that Adele "renews hope that the world I live in has good taste, that we occasionally come back to what's simple ... simply amazing."

Stella McCartney says Rihanna is "one of the coolest, hottest, most talented, most listened to, most impressive artists today, but she does it in her own stride."

Jeremy Lin, who also made the list, says of Tebow: "[Tim] is unashamed of his convictions and faith, and lives a life that consistently reflects his values."

Follow this link to peruse the whole Time influential list, which also includes President Obama, Hillary Clinton and even some rogues like Kim Jong Un.

Matt Lauer is sticking with NBC's Today.

Ending any speculation that the top-rated show might have to face ABC's rising Good Morning America without him, Lauer signed a long-term contract with NBC.

Lauer plans to announce Friday on air that he's staying put, ending suggestions that he might reunite with Katie Couric on a syndicated show she's launching.

Many felt that Lauer was simply negotiating a better deal for himself all along, though, having been a fixture of the #1 ranked morning show since 1994.

Matt Lauer: King of Cool

For broadcast networks, morning represents one of the most important parts of the day. The shows are hugely profitable at a time of declining TV viewership.

Reports that Lauer could end up with a $25 million deal may not be exaggerated, as a result, though NBC has declined to comment on the deal's specifics.

It's been quite a week for Today, with Matt interviewing Octomom as well as Sarah Palin, while Couric guest hosts Good Morning America over on ABC.

NBC also apologized for Today bungling the Trayvon Martin 911 call, but that clearly wasn't seen as an impediment to cash cow Lauer's giant payday.

Nadya "Octomom" Suleman said she’s “ashamed” of going on welfare to take care of her 14 children, but she will still never stoop so low as to do porn.

"I still am working as hard as I possibly can to support them,’’ Suleman told Today's Matt Lauer, adding that she made the welfare decision “reluctantly.”

Suleman said she was not just humbled, but afraid to take public assistance, as she's received death threats for receiving the aid (up to $2,000 a month).

"I feel ashamed, but who cares how I feel? It's 100 percent about my children,” she asked and answered, saying she hopes to be off public assistance soon.

“They deserve everything, they deserve the best.”

Including dignity. That's why, even though we've already seen Octomom nude, Suleman will NEVER do full-on porn, even if the offer was $100 million.

“I won’t touch other human flesh,’’ Suleman said. “The only flesh I’m touching is my own." Interestingly, this was also true of her children's conception.

She got pregnant with all 14 of them through IVF!

Sarah Palin appeared on Today this morning, first as a guest and then as a co-host, in what was a mostly enjoyable stint on the NBC morning show institution.

Matt Lauer did ask her some tough questions, though nothing about how Levi Johnston got Sunny Oglesby pregnant. Hey, no journalist is perfect.

The mood was jovial as Palin opened with a story about a stranger who, when she was headed to NBC's 30 Rockefeller Plaza, said she knew Palin was Tina Fey.

Lauer’s interview with Palin about the Republican presidential race - voters in Wisconsin, Maryland, and D.C. vote today - quickly turned more serious.

Her message: “Anybody but Obama will be so much better for our country,” and the experience level of  the winner's V.P. choice doesn't matter. Why?

Because no matter who it is, the 2008 nominee opines, “they’re gonna get clobbered by the lamestream media who does not like the conservative message.”

As Lauer then pointed out, though, Sarah Palin herself was about to become a card carrying member of the lamestream media for the next hour. Ziiiiing!

As co-host, Palin talked with Tori Spelling and experts on raising teenage daughters, weighed in on Oprah's mistakes with OWN and talked about the new "EnemyGraph" Facebook app, which allows you to create a list of enemies, not friends.

Speaking of which, sort of ... please "Like" THG on Facebook!
