Matt Giraud is a 23-year old contestant on the eighth season of American Idol. He hails from Ypsilanti, MI
Giraud is a life-long resident of Michigan. He graduated from Western Michigan University in 2007 and has made a living as a dueling piano player that sings and plays in local clubs and hotels.
Following a stellar Wild Card performance, the singer moved on to the finals. All four judges agreed that he deserves a spot there.
He was the beneficiary of the first-ever "judges' save," after he received the lowest number of viewer votes during movie song week, but was spared from elimination by Simon and company.

Matt is great I have been watching Idol since it has been on and this young man has raw talent. I will keep voting for him he is great.

I love Matt I think he has ALOT of natural talent!!!He's by far my favorite person on american idol..Im really upset that He was on the bottom three this week I was devistated and it was a mayjor reilief that they used the save on him.. I think Lil rounds shound have gone home she's not really good she's just trys to be better then she really is..But anyway im really happy you're still here...

I watch American Idol every season and have NEVER voted... I've always had my favorites, but never really cared that much to vote. Not this year! Right from the start I picked Matt out, and said "I like him". In the beginning I didn't vote, America was doing it right! As soon as he got in the bottom 3 that first time I freaked! There was no way I was going to let someone with such amazing talent go home, I started voting that following week. 2 full hours, 2 phones! I make everyone I know vote as well. He's amazing! He has such a good heart, and seems like a real down to earth person as well. He never acts like he's better than anyone, and he always stays true to himself! I hope no matter what happens he has an amazing career out of this, because I'd listen to his music any day of the week!
