She is an Argentine woman who met Sanford seven years ago, and is said to be either 41 or 43 years old.
They were friends before she became his mistress, but the two have had a romantic relationship for about a year.
There are extensive emails to prove their relationship. Cheesy ones. Mark Sanford is a bit of a softie when it comes to Maria Belen Chapur. Just not stimulus money.
Maria Belen Chapur works for Bunge y Born, a multinational agribusiness and grain trading corporation. She is fluent in English, as well as Portuguese and Chinese.
Chapur is married and has two sons. She is rumored to be a former brunette model, and also a body builder and former actress. None of this has been confirmed.
