And you thought your dad was embarrassing on Twitter.

Ad account executive Rob Grant - who also happens to be the father of Lana Del Rey - has launched a bizarre Twitter offensive against Lorde, whom he clearly regards as a rival of Lana's.

When a friend tweeted to Grant that Lana's forthcoming album is "addictive," Rob replied, "More addictive than Pure Heroine," referring to Lorde's debut release. In all likelihood, Grant then dislocated his shoulder in an effort to pat himself on the back for his clever pun.

Okay, so it's a pretty mild insult, but it still seems strange that Grant feels it's appropriate to tear down other artists in the name of building up his daughter.

Lorde has openly discussed her love of all things regal (her stage name is a feminized take on the noble title), but it was a different kind of Royal that inspired her 2013 breakthrough hit.

Lorde and George Brett

Lorde credits a photo of baseball legend George Brett signing autographs in his Kansas City Royals uniform with giving her the idea for the title of her first single.

Brett was touched by the tribute and the 60-year-old Hall of Famer and 17-year-old hitmaker have been trying to coordinate a meet and greet for almost a year.

George was forced to miss Lorde's recent tour stop in Kansas City, but he sent her a signed jersey with the inscription, "Lorde, you're royal to me."

With their hectic schedules, it was beginning to look as though the two stars from very different walks of life would never cross paths. But last night in Vegas, it finally happened:

Lorde ditches her typical grunge/goth/intentionally non-glamorous look on Teen Vogue's latest cover, upon which she glows like we're not used to seeing.

The Grammy-Winning singer (real name Ella Yelich-O'Connor), 17, dons traditional makeup and a basic plaid scarf, while letting her locks run loose.

When it comes to her usual appearance - in other words, sans Teen Vogue cover shoot prep - she's the first to admit that her style is on the plainer side.

Although she understands there are "expectations in [the] industry about looking a certain way," Lorde tells the mag she prefers her tomboy look.

"I am feminine, but I really love dressing in boys’ clothes too. I guess that’s why I get labeled as ‘the grumpy girl,’ because I don’t play into that.”

Although she famously declares "we'll never be royals" in her breakout song, the teen herself is beginning to adjust to her newfound fame and lifestyle.

Seventeen-year-old sensation Lorde was among four female rockers who joined Nirvana at the grunge band's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony last night.

She joined the living members of Nirvana on "All Apologies," one of many memorable songs by the music pioneers who disbanded after Kurt Cobain's suicide.

Watch her perform along with bassist Krist Novoselic, drummer Dave Grohl and guitarist Pat Smear as the group was officially granted musical immortality:

In addition to Lorde, Joan Jett sang "Smells Like Teen Spirit," Kim Gordon took on "Aneurysm," and St. Vincent performed "Lithium" along with the rockers.

While those three had previous relationships with the band, Lorde was not even born by the time they broke up. However, Novoselic is a fan of hers.

Krist played a unique, instrumental rendition of her song "Royals" on his favorite instrument of late, the accordion, at a performance for his Fair Vote campaign.

Nirvana was enshrined in its first year of eligibility.

Along with them, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, Cat Stevens, Linda Ronstadt, The E Street Band and Kiss joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well.

In the new issue of Fashion magazine, singing sensation Lorde makes it clear she doesn't want to be labeled or pigeonholed as a typical pop princess.

We'd say she does not have a lot to worry about in that regard.

Lorde Fashion Cover

"I'm drawn to women who aren't painted in history as sweet figures. Patti Smith was prickly. She didn't take people's s--t. She was frustrated," she shares.

"There's no better music idol for young women today."

"There is a lot of pressure for us to be really positive all the time. Every photo shoot I do, I get asked for big smiles, and I shouldn't have to be that way."

In that vein, the 17-year-old Lorde says she has flaws and is proud of them. This week, she shared a close up of her acne after a magazine removed it.

Lorde, we are all on your team.

For the second time in a few weeks, this 17-year old has used the power of social media to send an important message to her young followers:

Be proud of who you are... flaws and all.

In February, Lorde posted a picture of herself in bed with acne cream, showing off her warts for millions of followers; and now she's called out a photo agency for trying to pretend as if the singer has a perfect complexion.

On Sunday, the Grammy winner shared two contrasting images of herself from her performance at Lollapalooza in Chile, one of which Photoshopped away her zits and the other of which put them on full display.

See the images in question below:

James Lowe, the 24-year-old photographer long rumored to be dating "Royals" singer Lorde, is opening up for the first time about her and their relationship.

In a new post on his blog, Ono Field, he shares what it's like to be dating the 17-year-old who became one of the most famous pop stars in the world.

Writes James Lowe:

James Lowe, Lorde

"I've written, deleted, re-written, and deleted this post at least five times in the past few months, wondering when would be an appropriate time to start writing again."

He notes that "Since originally sitting down to write this post, Ella has become a two-time Grammy winner." (Lorde's real name is Ella Yelich-O'Connor.)

"She has taken home a Brit too. Currently she is on the opposite side of the world on tour. As much as I miss her, I couldn't be prouder of what she has achieved so far."

He goes on to talk about how he's changed since they started dating.

Lorde. She's just like any teenager out there.

Except, you know, she has a number-one single and multiple Grammy Awards to her name.

Still, the "Royals" crooner made a pretty cool gesture on Instagram last night, posting a photo of herself in bed without any makeup on… but with plenty of acne cream across her face.

The helpful message? You aren't alone, girls. Even mega famous celebrities deal with the occasional pimple...

Lorde took out a full-page ad in her hometown New Zealand Herald this week to thank her fans for their support in carrying her to her win at the Grammy Awards.

Even cooler? The ad was a hand-written note from the songstress:

The 17-year-old, among the 2014 Grammy Awards winners with two trophies Sunday night, including Song of the Year for her smash "Royals," writes:

“I just wanted to say thank you for the time you’ve given me these past 14 months; finding out about me online or in between these pages or in your headphones.”

Lorde's hand-written drawing of the signature Grammy trophy was a nice touch, as is the fact that she appears truly humbled by having taken it home.

Since that night, she returned home to New Zealand for a homecoming concert in Auckland where she was greeted by a reported 10,000 fans in attendance.

Watch Sunday's Lorde Grammy performance after the jump ...
