Lindsay Lohan SWEARS that until a few days ago, she had NO IDEA she owed her former lawyer Shawn Holley money, let alone a small fortune.

Easy mistake. It's not like they ever see each other. Oh wait ...

Now that she's aware of what she owes, the troubled star has supposedly put Shawn at the top of her list of creditors ... and boy is that a long list.

How she could actually be unaware of this fact is amazing and probably impossible, even for her. First of all, the amount is AT LEAST $150,000.

Lindsay Lohan is desperately trying to hire a new defense attorney, despite having fired Shawn Holley and replaced him with Mark Heller just weeks ago.

The actress reportedly "despises" Heller, prompting her to hunt for another replacement. Finding one may prove a difficult task for her, however.

“Lindsay has been on the phone calling criminal defense attorneys in Los Angeles trying to hire someone new to represent her,” a source revealed.

"She called four other top DUI attorneys, and every one turned her down ... one even had his assistant call Lindsay back and say he wasn’t interested.”

During Lindsay Lohan's court appearance yesterday, she made quite an impression with her Louboutins, Chanel dress and hilariously bad spray tan.

She was also sporting a new tattoo. Peep it:

On her inner right arm, she appears to be rocking a red triangle, sort of like the one in your car that turns on the hazard lights. That's certainly appropriate!

Judge Stephanie Sautner just could not help herself.

After seeing Lindsay Lohan roll into court this morning after initially calling in sick, then changing her mind at the last second, she had to get a dig in.

"I'm glad to see you're feeling better," Sautner said.

Sautner was referring to the BS note her lawyer sent, claiming LiLo had an upper respiratory infection and could not fly from NYC to LA for court.

After TMZ busted Lindsay smoking, she apparently got wind of the celebrity news site's story and decided to high-tail it to LA last night after all.

Lindsay Lohan took the last flight from JFK to LAX Tuesday night after being warned that she'd be in DEEP if she really did call in sick for court.

Mom Dina came along as Lindsay Lohan, broke and deeply in debt, flew first class on American Airlines and landed at around 12:30 this morning.

LiLo had no intention of showing Wednesday and got a doctor's note filed with the court, saying she couldn't fly due to a respiratory infection.

So much for that.

Lindsay Lohan has reportedly called in sick for a mandatory court hearing tomorrow, a likely bull$h!t excuse that could potentially land her in a world of pain.

Lohan's new lawyer, Mark Heller, submitted documents notifying the judge that the star is too ill to fly from New York to Los Angeles for the court date.

Heller submitted a note from a Park Avenue doctor who says Lindsay has an upper respiratory infection and can't fly for her own (and the public's) safety.

TMZ reports that Heller also submitted a New York Post article from January 11 explaining that the flu epidemic is ransacking the nation's biggest city.

Lindsay Lohan didn't exactly catch a break when her case was transferred this week to Judge Stephanie Sautner, a jurist who's been tough on her in the past.

Sautner is the judge who presided over the troubled star's jewelry theft case and supervised her while on probation, issuing a stern reminder at the end.

Sautner warned, "The only thing you have to do is follow all laws… Live your life in a more mature way, stop the nightclubbing and focus on your work, OK?"

"I don't expect to see you again. You know what you have to do."

Yeah. Not gonna be pretty when she shows up next week.

Lindsay Lohan can't catch a break these days.

Last week, her new movie The Canyons was rejected by the Sundance Film Festival, and now South By Southwest (SXSW) has reportedly followed suit.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "quality issues" was the hilarious reason cited, with one source labeling the Bret Easton Ellis film "a monstrosity."

Good or bad, the recent New York Times feature entitled "Here Is What Happens When You Cast Lindsay Lohan in Your Movie" did little to help the film.

The paper describes the "chaos" surrounding the often-drunk Lindsay Lohan, from $46,000 hotel bills to erratic behavior and days-long disappearances.

Shawn Holley is saying goodbye to Lindsay Lohan for good.

Her attorney has had enough of her antics and is in the process of filling out paperwork and getting the necessary signatures to officially withdraw from her case.

All before Lindsay's hearing on January 30, too. Ouch.

Earlier this month, Lindsay fired Shawn while the lawyer was ON HER WAY to the courthouse to discuss a plea bargain in Lindsay's most recent legal entanglement.
