Man, 2012 was a great year for videos.

Long or short, highly produced or randomly amateur, political or sexual, musical or viral, these 12 videos spread like wildfire across the World Wide Internets.

What videos stand out as your favorites over the past 12 months? We've chosen a dozen that defined the year. Let's take a look back at 2012 in moving pictures:

12. Gotye, "Somebody That I Used to Know." Overplayed as it is dinky as it is catchy, Gotye's song may be one-hit wonder material, but that one hit was HUGE!

Cool video, too. Often imitated, never duplicated.

Lil Wayne just turned 30, but he's been in the game since he was a teen and has recorded a mammoth number of hits. For that reason, he's already talking retirement.

Plus, 30 years old for a rapper is like 55 for the average human.

Lil Wayne wants to spend a night in Paris, or tell us about the night he just spent there. It's unclear, but you gotta hear this new track he recorded with Paris Hilton (seriously).

Paris hopes to feature this on an upcoming album, and on it, Weezy raps and references the Paris Hilton sex tape, which put her on the map back in aught three:

"Last night was awesome / Super f**king awesome / It was me, myself, and I, and her / We had ourselves a foursome ... Excuse my french, but f**k the cameras / I wanna spend a night in Paris."

Don't we all, Lil Wayne. Don't we all.

(Not really.)

Lil Wayne has lost his case against Quincy Jones III.

The rapper filed suit over a documentary Jones filmed about him, calling it "scandalous" and defamatory, but that suit has been thrown out. And it gets worse.

Wayne was told to pay up in the countersuit filed by the latter; the filmmaker alleged Weezy unlawfully blocked the film's release and cost him major profits.

$2,195,000 in profits, according to a jury of his peers.

Lil Wayne was a no-show at his scheduled trial date Monday, and the judge presiding over the rapper's lawsuit against Quincy Jones III is far from impressed.

Weezy apparently suffered "several seizure-like episodes" and will sit the trial out, meaning the jury will only have his video deposition to go on. Yes, this deposition:

Lil Wayne turns 30 today. Google turns 14. Happy birthday you guys!

Surprisingly, the search engine giant know to millions of senior citizens as "The Google" did not exist at the dawn of the Internet. How pissed were AltaVista and MetaCrawler on 9/27/98?!

As for Lil Wayne, the man's accomplished a lot for a 30-year-old.

Happy Birthday Google!

We're not just talking about his impressive number of arrests or kids fathered out of wedlock either, though each sum is formidable. The dude just made music history.

Surpassing Elvis Presley, Lil Wayne is now the all-time king of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with 109 songs featured on it. Whatever you think of his music, that's no joke.

Check out some of our favorite Lil Wayne videos and pics after the jump!

Either Lil Wayne smokes a LOT of weed, or has a short memory, or is absolutely hilarious. Regardless, you gotta see this deposition he gave for his lawsuit against Quincy Jones III.

Weezy, who is suing Jones over a documentary about his life, was grilled by Qunicy's lawyer, Pete Ross, but claims he remembers nothing ... about pretty much anything.

Jones followed Lil Wayne around for months as he was producing his album Tha Carter III. The rapper later trashed Jones' film, calling it a "scandalous portrayal."

Ross deposed Lil Wayne regarding the impending lawsuit in June, but it's not clear how much he got out of this ... you really need to watch the video people.

This is an interesting footnote to the kiss between Rihanna and Chris Brown at last night's MTV Video Music Awards ... she's apparently not a big Drake fan.

In the video below - taken seconds after Drake and Lil' Wayne and crew went to go claim their award for Best Hip-Hop Video - the camera zooms in on Rih.

She appears to be mouthing "I hate those a$$holes."

Sitting just a few seats down from Drake, Weezy and Nicki Minaj, Rihanna also refused to clap for the rapper when his name was announced Thursday.

Her (apparent) reaction is a bit of a surprise, since she and Drizzy were tight at one point, and yet not surprising, given that Chris Brown is the love of her life.

Or so Rihanna told Oprah, fighting back tears. Chris also sustained a nice gash on his face during the infamous NYC club brawl with Drake's crew this year.

That fight allegedly broke out over none other than Rihanna, who both are clearly obsessed with ... but who Drake disses hardcore in his video with 2 Chainz.

The long and short of it? Point, Chris Brown. Maybe.

Rihanna and Chris: More than friends?

While the Chris Brown-Rihanna kiss was perhaps the VMAs' most tweeted event, Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz' performance was definitely the most bleeped.

2 Chainz may be the new guy in the rap game, but the lanky dread-head towered over the set and captivated the Staples Center crowd from the get-go.

"Cut the top off, call it Amber Rose," Chainz rapped in "Yuck," referencing Wiz Khalifa's once bald-headed, now crop-topped and very pregnant fiancee.

Lil Wayne, a.k.a. Tunechi, backed up Chainz during the track, then took center stage as the DJ cut off "Yuck" and played his new release, "No Worries."

Wayne jumped up and down, shirtless and wearing no sunglasses for once, just tearing thorough the song. Even his boy 2 Chainz got in on the act.

Chainz began to hype up the Young Money / Cash Money boss up by accentuating Weezy's bars with persistent instructions to the crowd to "Turn up."

They obliged. Fortunately, those in attendance could actually hear the song; TV audiences may have found it hard to follow Wayne's censored lyrics.

Can't say that's a big surprise, though. This is Lil Wayne here. Dude even began his verse: "Tunechi up in this bitch, everybody should be worried."

Indeed.
