Lil Wayne is a dude who started off relatively unknown outside the hip-hop world, but his profile has grown as he's gotten arrested a few hundred times. Not actually that many, but enough that our point remains the same.
Wayne (real name Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.) shot to quasi-fame with his 2004 album Tha Carter and its two subsequent albums Tha Carter II (2005) and Tha Carter III (2008). He proclaimed himself to be the best rapper alive in the latter. We're not sure if that says more about him or rap in general.
