Facing a May 18 trial date on charges of selling OxyContin, Sherry Johnston - the mother of Levi Johnston - says relations between her family and that of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin are thawing, and that she saw grandson Tripp at her own home.

"When Bristol came to pick up Tripp this week, she said if we want him more often, all I have to do is call ... She said if I want to come to their house, I can come over and see him all the time," Sherry Johnston, 42, tells Momlogic.com.

"I am hopeful we'll be able to work together to raise Tripp."

The families have been feuding in recent weeks as Levi embarks on a whirlwind media tour for some ridiculous reason, talking about boning Bristol and feeling sorry for himself for not getting to spend more time with his son.

Johnston, who spent Mother's Day with Levi and his twin sister Mercede, said she sent a Mother's Day text message to Tripp's mom, Bristol Palin, May 10.

Three generations of Johnstons: Sherry, Levi and Tripp.

But despite signs of easing of the tension between the two Alaskan families, Sherry says she still would like to see her baby grandson more often.

Perhaps she should have considered that before getting involved - allegedly, sorry - in dealing prescription drugs. Not great for the reputation, typically.

"We see him a few hours a week, but I did spend time with him this morning. It tears me apart. Every time I see him he's a different child."

"Before he wasn't rolling over, now he is," Sherry Johnston added. "Now he's trying to crawl. I am missing him so much that it tears me up."

Johnston pleaded innocent to all charges and says she got hooked on the opiate after a hysterectomy that led to seven additional surgeries.

Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin split a few months ago. That we saw coming.

What we could not have predicted was the unwed teenage baby daddy turning into a complete media slut, talking to every TV show that will take him and throwing Bristol and her mom, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, under the bus.

According to a report in the National Enquirer, Bristol Plain is getting a bit fed up with the act - and wants to keep their baby, Tripp, away from him.

"What Bristol is doing amounts to emotional blackmail," says a source close to the previously engaged couple. "She no longer wants Levi in her life and she's been threatening to have him cut out of their newborn son Tripp's life."

Levi, along with his drug-dealing mother Sherry and sister Mercede, appeared on Larry King Live on April 22 to discuss the ongoing feud they're having with the former Republican candidate for Vice President and her family.

According to a source, the escalating feud between former lovers Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston is very ... well, high school. They are just 18 and 19, after all.

"Bristol holds a grudge against Mercede because some of her friends dated Levi. The girls meant nothing to Levi, but Bristol wouldn't accept that."

"The irony is that Bristol stole Levi from her childhood best friend, Lanesia Garcia, who dated Levi for almost three years before Bristol did!"

Levi has said throughout his media tour that he is not allowed to take his 4-month-old son out of the Palin home. Both Levi and his mom confirmed to King that they've retained lawyers to help Levi battle for custody of his child.

Levi also admitted he isn't paying Bristol Palin child support, but denies he's a deadbeat dad, saying: "I have everything my boy needs back home."

Bristol is said to be stunned that Levi is fighting back publicly.

"Bristol constantly threatens Levi, telling him that if he keeps up these publicity stunts she won't let him see Tripp," said the source.

"In the end, she'll have to do to whatever a judge decides. Her mother may be governor, but Levi has a right to see his son, like it or not!"

Thursday night on CNN's Larry King Live, Levi Johnston, the ex-fiancé of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol, who's now accused of being a deadbeat dad (and white trash, among other things) was asked the time-honored question:

"Where did sex occur in their house?"

Levi, a Palin household resident while he and Bristol were still together – answered, "You know, Larry, that I'm a gentleman, you know. And I don't, you know, kiss and tell. So, you know, I don't think that really – that really matters."

What an upstanding young man. A true gentleman doesn't kiss and tell ... nor does he typically whore out his ex and child on the talk show circuit, but hey.

While he wouldn't disclose if he and Bristol did the horizontal mambo on Sarah's bed, Levi did confirm that, at least once, he hit that piece unprotected.

"You said you practiced safe sex most of the time, right?" King asked.

"Right," responded Levi Johnston.

"Most of the time," reiterated King.

"Most of the time," said Levi.

There you have it, folks - it's confirmed. Tripp existing wasn't proof enough.

When Larry King asked if he was surprised he got her pregnant, Levi Johnston admitted, "A little bit, yes. It came as a bit of a shock."

Levi also speculated - as he previously did on the Tyra Banks Show - that he's pretty sure Todd and Sarah Palin were aware of the boning going on between himself and Bristol when they all lived under the same roof.

"You know, I'm not sure. That's – that's a question I can't really answer," Levi said, before adding "I would think they would [be aware of it], yes."

The interview ended with Larry King basically telling Levi Johnston to get a lawyer if the Palins, as he says, won't let him see or take baby Tripp to see his own family. We can only imagine the statement Sarah fires this time.

Sarah Palin might be able to see Russia from her house.

But can she also see what her ongoing family drama is doing to her political future?

Levi is the Man

Palin's father, Chuck Heath, is the latest to get involved in the back-and-forth between Palin's camp and Levi Johnston. Heath said his granddaughter's baby daddy "has not contributed anything" to Tripp, who was born last December.

A sign of things to come? Bristol was already holding babies away from Levi at the Republication National Convention.

Johnston, of course, has been making the media rounds.

First, he appeared on The Tyra Banks Show and claimed that the Alaska Governor likely knew he was banging Bristol; then, he went on The Early Show and said the Palin family won't let him be alone with his son.

"I don't agree with what he's doing right now," Heath told Us Weekly of Johnston's press tour. "It's not right. He's broke, so he's trying to capitalize on this. I wish he’d take some of this money he’s making and buy some diapers with it."

This would all be a typical, Hollywood family feud... if it didn't prominently involved someone that was A VICE PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE SIX MONTHS AGO AND WHO IS CONSIDERED THE REPUBLICAN FRONT-RUNNER FOR THE 2012 PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION!!!

As such, it's downright hilarious, and sort of depressing for the country.

In part two of his interview on CBS' The Early Show, Levi Johnston - the 19-year-old father of Sarah Palin's grandson - continued to accuse the Palin family of trying to prevent him from spending time alone with his 3-month-old son, Tripp.

Levi said that while he still talks to Bristol Palin, 18, "every day, every other day," the conversations are "real short ... You know, I call her to see - see how my baby's doing, that kind of thing. But we don't really sit there and talk."

He also talked about how he first met Sarah Palin's daughter and had been close to her for years, but that all changed when she was picked as the Republican party's nominee for Vice President last August, according to Levi.

In addition to calling the Palins liars about his past connection to them, Levi and his mother, Sherry Johnston, also say that the family won't let her see her grandson and wants to meet with the Palins to work out a custody arrangement.

In a perfect world, "everything will be reconciled," Sherry said. "[I hope] we can get together, if for no other reason, [than] for Tripp. He deserves to know both his grandmas and grandpas, and aunts and uncles. And mom and dad."

"I had a really rough summer," added Sherry, who faces six felony counts of possessing and selling the prescription painkiller OxyContin. "And Tripp ... just waiting for him ... was the only thing that really got me through."

Which side are you on?

Just days after talking on the Tyra Banks Show about boning Bristol Palin in Sarah Palin's house, Levi Johnston ran his mouth some more on CBS' The Early Show about his many difficulties with the family of the former V.P. candidate.

One point of contention: Whether Johnston ever lived at Palin's home.

"They said I didn't live there," the ex-fiance of Bristol Palin and father of her son Tripp said. "[They say] I 'stayed' there. I was like, 'Okay, whatever you want to call it' – all my stuff was there. If you wanna call it staying there, that's fine."

"So, they're lying," said reporter Maggie Rodriguez.

"Yeah," Levi Johnston replied.

After Palin, the Governor of Alaska, lost the election and Levi and Bristol broke up, he says there was tension during his visits to see 3-month-old Tripp.

"I can go over there whenever I want and see my baby," says Johnston, 18. "But I'm not allowed to take him, and it's not as comfortable going over there anymore with that family sitting down on the couch. It's awkward. I don't know."

"They just, like, they don't think of me the same way anymore."

"I don't wanna go there every day and sit there when her family's there and try and play with my baby. I want to be able to take him and do our own thing with my family."

Levi wasn't the only Johnston to defend his story. His mom, Sherry (who is facing felony drug-dealing charges) and sister Mercede also weighed in.

"Look what they're doing," said Mercede in defense of Levi. "They are lying, trying to save themselves when they asked for it. They brought him to the campaign. They should have known what was coming. They can't try and take it back now."

As for why Levi Johnston is speaking out now, he explained, "We're not trying to cash in on their name, you know ... I'm just trying to get my side of the story out there. Letting people know who I am. Not what the magazines say I am."

The biggest misconception? "Probably that my family's white trash," he said. Or is that a misconception? Click to enlarge pics of Levi (and Mercede) below:

In the following clip from today's The Tyra Banks Show (airing today), Levi Johnston says ex-fiancee Bristol Palin - the mother of his 4-month-old son Tripp and the daughter of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin - wants nothing to do with him.

We heard Ashley Biden is available, Levi.

"Some days we have a regular conversation without fighting," said Johnston, 19, who split with Bristol Palin, 18, in March after they welcomed Tripp in December.

"Most times, she's usually in a pretty bad mood. She's short. She doesn't want me around, I don't think," Levi told Banks. "She says that I can come see the baby, and that kind of thing, but won't let me take him anywhere."

On Friday, a rep for the Palins lashed out at Levi Johnston for talking to Banks about his sex life - specifically, he said Sarah Palin was aware he was boning Bristol and allowed it by letting them sleep in the same room at her home.

"We're disappointed that Levi and his family, in a quest for fame, attention and fortune, are engaging in flat-out lies, gross exaggeration, and even distortion of their relationship," the statement from the Palin family said.

"It is unfortunate that Levi finds it more appealing to exploit his previous relationship with Bristol than to contribute to the well being of the child."

Hey, dude's gotta make a buck and find a new girl to knock up somehow.

While Barack and Michelle Obama are meeting heads of state, giving rousing speeches and winning raves for their representation of America (and fashion) in Europe, Sarah Palin is dealing with important diplomatic matters of her own.

Specifically, the Alaska Governor is lashing out against Levi Johnston for blabbing on TV about having sex with Bristol, her 18-year-old daughter.

After taking about having sex with Bristol Palin - and implying Sarah Palin knew he was doing so - on The Tyra Banks Show, Levi, 19, the father of Bristol's baby – was slapped with a blistering response from Sarah and Bristol.

The Palin family rep said in a statement:

"Bristol did not even know Levi was going on the show. We are very disappointed that Levi and his family, in a quest for fame, attention, and fortune, are engaging in flat-out lies, gross exaggeration, and even distortion of their relationship."

"Bristol's focus remains on raising Tripp, completing her education, and advocating abstinence. It is unfortunate that Levi finds it more appealing to exploit his previous relationship with Bristol than to contribute to the well being of the child."

Damn, you pretty much got served there, Levi.

The statement ends, saying, "Bristol realizes now that she made a mistake in her relationship and is the one taking responsibility for their actions." Owned again!

On the show, which airs Monday, April 6, Johnston tells Tyra Banks that he believes Sarah Palin knew he and Bristol were having sex when they lived under her roof.

The couple, who were high school sweethearts, were forced to claim that they planned to wed after graduation – but ended up splitting earlier this year.

In other Palin family news, the half sister of Sarah's husband Todd Palin was accused of breaking into the same Wasilla, Alaska, house twice to steal money.

Diana Palin, 35, was charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor criminal trespass and theft stemming from two break-ins. Solid week all around.

In an interview scheduled to air Monday on The Tyra Banks Show, teen baby daddy Levi Johnston admits that he and Bristol Palin were allowed to share a room at Sarah Palin's Alaska home even though she probably knew he was doing her daughter.

"I'm pretty sure she probably knew," says Johnston. "Moms are pretty smart."

Well, most of them are. This is ... forget it.

Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin, 19 and 18 respectively, called off their fake engagement in March. They welcomed son Tripp Easton Mitchell on December 27.

The self-proclaimed redneck, who showed off his tattoo of Bristol's name on his ring finger - says they practiced safe sex "most of the time." That's a relief.

His sister, Mercede Johnston, also admitted on the program that their family was under gag order during Sarah Palin's campaign for the vice presidency.

That must have put a dent in ma Sherry Johnston's drug-dealing biz.

"We were supposed to say that all questions need be brought up to the McCain campaign," Mercede said. "Other than that we had to say no comment."

Last month, Johnston said he needs to grow up before wedding Bristol Palin.

"It's just us not, me not being mature enough, or something, and having a kid and thinking ... it could be better for us to separate for a while," he said.

As for reconciling with Bristol, he said, "We'll see, we'll see how it is. We'll just remain friends for now. We're both cool with that decision, and we'll see."

Levi Johnston, the former fiancé of Bristol Palin and father to her baby son, Tripp Easton Michael Johnston, has had to grow up fast, but says in a new interview that he needs to "mature" before he considers getting married.

Having unprotected sex as a teenager is all good, though.

"It's just us not ... me not being mature enough, or something, and having a kid and thinking ... it could be better for us to separate for a while," Johnston eloquently said in an interview at his Alaska home with Good Morning America.

As for whether a future reconciliation with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's eldest daughter is possible, Levi said, "We'll see how it is ... We'll just remain friends for now. We're both cool with that decision, and we'll see."

Sarah Palin's bid for Vice President and Levi's bid to be an upstanding, married citizen both fell short ... but don't rule out a second shot for either in a couple of years.

Of their breakup that happened "a week, two weeks" ago, Levi Johnston admitted, "We were just, we were in a fight. And trying to see if we can make things work. But this is what it kind of ended up turning into."

Wasilla High School student Bristol Palin, 18, gave birth to Tripp on December 27, and Johnston says he sees his boy regularly – and it has changed his life.

"I'd give anything for [Tripp], to be with him," he said. "[There are] a lot of changes when you're a father, when you hold him for the first time, you know. I don't do a lot of things I used to anymore, I'll tell you that."

He added: "Yeah, [I'm] growing up a lot. So, it's fun. It's good times." Asked if he felt any pressure from the Palin family, Johnston said, "No, not at all."
