Happy birthday to the beautiful actress and musician!

The star, who recently started dating Adam Brody to complete one of our favorite couples, is a perennial candidate for any Most Beautiful People list.

She's also a solid actress, not that you'd know it from the last few seasons of Gossip Girl. Goodness did that show ever decline. Like to a stunning degree.

Anyway, we wish her nothing but the best on this day and every other. Also on Tuesday, it's Hugh Hefner's birthday and Kristen Stewart's birthday!

According to Us Weekly insiders, Adam Brody and Leighton Meester have been quietly dating for weeks, somehow keeping the romance a secret from fans of The OC and Gossip Girl.

The stars appeared together in 2011's The Oranges and "were always close and friendly" on set, a source says.

Leighton Meester may be overshadowed in the Gossip Girl universe this week by Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' secret wedding, but she still looks gorgeous (and backless!) on the cover of British Cosmopolitan‘s October 2012 issue.

Excerpts from Leighton's Cosmo interview below ...

On her style vs. her character Blair Waldorf’s: “I’ve never seen Blair with the same bag, coat or shoes twice. I don’t know anyone who had that."

"I had two pairs of jeans [when I was a teenager] that I rotated. I wouldn’t trust myself with a Prada brag! I didn’t even want to change for gym so I’d wear sweatpants over my jeans, then sweat around the track for an hour.”

On her awkward side: “If I’m not around close friends or family, I can get quiet and awkward, and it probably comes off as not very nice or just plain weird!"

"It’s not meant to. I try to pull myself out of it but sometimes it’s hard for me to open up. In the past it was easier for me to trust people. Nowadays I judge pretty quickly: ‘You just want to be my friend because I’m on a TV show.’”

On makeup: “I don’t care if there are a million photos of me with no makeup. I love being able to walk down the street without it. We should promote women not having to wear makeup, or at least feel we can go out without it.”

That's the score after the Gossip Girl star won a judgment against her mom today, officially stating that Leighton does not owe Connie Meester any money. Ever.

Leighton claimed Connie diverted money Leighton had sent to her little brother Lex, who suffers from serious medical problems, and spent it on herself. Frivolously.

Connie used the $7,500 per month Leighton sent home for Lex on things like plastic surgery, Botox, and hair extensions, resulting in a lawsuit from Leighton.

The elder Meester then sued her, demanding a portion of the star's earnings, claiming Leighton had promised to take care of her and that's why she spent the cash.

But a judge today officially dismissed that claim, ruling there was no such agreement and siding squarely with Leighton (who also appears in That's My Boy).

Leighton actually didn't sue to recover any money from Connie, BT-Dubs, she just wanted a judge to make her mom go away and stop stealing from Lex.

Done and done.

On whether she thought she would be successful: “I don’t know. Yes? You can’t count on success in this business. But anyway, being famous or rich or making a certain kind of movie – none of that means ‘success’ to me."

"Success to me is being happy and fulfilled, truly fulfilled, and being proud of myself and doing different things all the time. So thus far, yes, I’ve been successful.”

On how Gossip Girl changed her style: “My friend says that before the show I dressed like a homeless person. I used to buy everything at garage sales. It was hard to give up! I’d be like, ‘But this crazy sweater is amazing, and it only cost 25 cents!’"

"I’ve learned from Blair, though. Now I like to pepper in some designer stuff.”

On her makeup routine: “I’ve stopped wearing makeup when I’m not working. For a while I thought I had dark circles and bad skin, and then I realized I was seeing myself that way because I didn’t recognize myself anymore without makeup."

"Now when I wear it, I think I look really weird!”

On love: “I love love. It’s the most intriguing universally understood emotion, and it comes in so many forms: family love, love of friends. I fall in love with everybody all the time.”

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester has a new beau in Aaron Himelstein.

On a trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the actress, 26, and her artist boyfriend visited the famous Christ the Redeemer at the top of the Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park Friday. Things seem to be going along well for the pair:

"He's been around for a while. She's been with him since at least November," a source tells Us Weekly. "He dotes on her. She definitely likes that in guys."

Meester split with beau of two years Sebastian Stan in 2010, and hasn't always been so lucky in love. She says she takes relationships very seriously.

"I never had a boyfriend until I was 18. It's nice, I guess - when you like them," she told Marie Claire in April. "But it isn't the most important thing."

"I'm not sure I want to get married. The only time a relationship is good is when you really love them. I don't want to hang out with a guy I just like."

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester made plenty of news with her TV character's nuptials this winter, but she says she may never walk down the aisle in real life.

"I'm not sure I ever want to get married," the 25-year-old tells Marie Claire in its new cover story. "The only time a relationship is good is if you really love them."

"I don't want to hang out with some guy I just like."

It's been five years since Meester first set foot on the Gossip Girl set, and in that time, she says she's become much less naive about love and life.

"I'm a totally different person than when I started. I'm growing into an adult," she says.

"I feel more mature than most people my age. I’m having this weird growth spurt. I'm starting to see my future differently. I'm getting ready for it."

Meester refused to let her parents' mistakes - both her mom and dad served time in federal prison for drug trafficking offenses - define her life.

"My family has a crazy history," the actress says. "Probably the craziest I've heard of."

I look back now and see it in a nice light," she says of growing up in Marco Island, Fla. "It wasn’t uncomplicated. But I played outside. I went to the beach."

"There were happy, fun times. You can take what is handed to you and use it as an excuse to mess up. But I've always handled what was given to me by life."

"I consider myself lucky. I was never lied to. And I was loved."

Leighton Meester can breathe a little easier this holiday season, now that mom Constance Meester has jettisoned a gargantuan $3 million lawsuit against her daughter.

Connie stated that she "sacrificed her happiness" to help Leighton pursue acting and the Gossip Girl star is legally bound to support her, E! News has confirmed.

She's now backing off, but is Leighton ready to do the same?

The actress' attorney says that she is still seeking a judgment against Constance that will state, in no uncertain terms, that she does not owe her mom any support.

"Leighton is seeking declaratory relief from the court, which we hope to have wrapped up in the near future," says lawyer James Spertus. Her rep had no comment.

In a previous court filing, Leighton stated that Constance took money she sent for her sick brother's care and spent it on plastic surgery and other frivolous things.
