Two weeks after Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life, the actor's official death certificate has been released.

It confirms that the 29-year old - whose body was discovered inside his North Hollywood apartment by the building's landlord - died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The document also states that Young used a handgun for the act.

The rising star first appeared as the title character in 1998's The Famous Jett Jackson and did not leave a suicide note at the scene.

He had starred on Rizzoli & Isles since the premiere of that TNT hit, portraying Detective Barry Frost.

Friends and family members remain stunned and confused over the loss, with rumors of depression and an unusual religion affiliation being blamed for Young's death.

While the suicide of Lee Thompson Young remains a mystery, the way in which friends and family gather to say goodbye has been revealed:

A funeral for the Rizzoli & Isles star will take place later today on the famous Paramount Pictures lot where the TNT hit is filmed.

Hundreds of mourners are expected to attend the sad event, with Young's family asking all to make a donation to Young Storytellers Foundation, an organization which helps expose underprivileged kids to the arts, in lieu of flowers.

Young was found dead this week of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, with many at a loss as to why the 29-year old took his own life.

Rizzoli & Isles aired its first new episode last night since the tragic suicide of Lee Thompson Young over the weekend.

The TNT drama has since halted production as its cast and crew members deal with the sudden passing of the man behind Detective Barry Frost - and it paid tribute to the 29-year old star at the close of the installment via a title card that read “In Loving Memory of Lee Thompson Young 1984-2013.”

It also included a pair of silent shots of Young from the series. Watch the montage here:

Young did not leave a suicide note and many close to the actor are confounded by why he took his own life.

Some believe a long battle with depression and even a rekindled interest in religion may have played a role.

With questions continuing to be raised over why Lee Thompson Young killed himself at the age of 29 this week, a new report points to a pair of possible reasons:

  1. Depression.
  2. Religion.

An unnamed source tells the site that Young had suffered from the former for a long time, while confirming that the Rizzoli & Isles star was anything but a party animal during his time on Earth.

"He was the opposite. Lee loved to travel and was always the first to tell everyone to take a breath and enjoy the beauty of life," the insider says, adding the star was "gentle and unassuming" despite a lot of success in Hollywood.

A day after the body of this 29-year old actor was found inside his Los Angles home by his landlord, sources confirm to TMZ that Young did not leave a suicide note.
