No word on the Fugees vocalist's whereabouts as of this time.

She had been housed at the minimum security Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Conn., since July 8. So she's free after not quite three months.

She failed to pay taxes on $1.8 million in income between 2005-2007.

Lauryn Hill offered some thoroughly epic explanations for the actions that led to her incarceration, and we can only guess what she has in store for us next.

Rants about the IRS, slavery and racism, here we come.

Lauryn Hill is speaking out from behind bars, where she's doing three months for tax evasion, in a new letter she penned thanking her fans for support.

Hill, who was sentenced on July 8 for failing to pay $1 million in taxes over the past decade, also talked a bit about her experience in prison so far.

Hill's team shared the message on her Tumblr, explaining that she can't personally answer all the fan mail she's received, but she appreciates it.

"Ms. Hill receives a lot mail, and would like to let everyone know that she is doing well," her page reads. "She also asked me to pass along this message:

Lauryn Hill has reported to federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut.

The 38-year-old singer will be there at least a few months, having earned a three-month sentence for tax evasion following a guilty plea earlier this year.

Fugee

Hill is being held in a minimum security facility where inmates live in barracks type housing, and will not be isolated in the facility a la Aaron Hernandez.

She will be housed with the general population.

Hill admits failing to file tax returns on more than $1.8 million she earned from 2005-2007, but has gone off on various Tumblr rants on the subject.

Seriously. "Rants" may not do justice to a woman who plays the victim like no other. Follow the link to read Lauryn Hill's manifesto on racism, the IRS and slavery.

On the eve of beginning her three-month prison sentence for tax evasion, Lauryn Hill took to Tumblr to rant about racism, slavery, the IRS and more.

Hill, who was sentenced in May for failing to pay taxes on around $1.8 million in earnings, appears to be pinning her fiscal woes on historical racism.

Lauryn Hill O-Face

"The concept of reverse racism is flawed, if not absolutely ridiculous," Lauryn laments in what can only be described as one of the all-time celebrity rants.

Martyring herself in dramatic terms, Hill summates that "the institution seeks to hide its own criminal history at the expense and wholeness of the abused."

Lauryn Hill's sentencing hearing Monday saw the singer's attorney claim that she's paid off all of her debts - more than $970,000 in state and federal taxes.

Was that enough to keep the singer out of the slammer?

No. She'll be headed to federal prison for three months!

Lauryn Hill has a new record deal, she said on her Tumblr, while refuting reports that she was just evicted by her landlord and is a squatter of sorts.

"Yes, I have recently entered into an agreement with Sony Worldwide Entertainment, to launch a new label, on which my new music will be released."

"And yes, I am working on new music."

Ms. Lauryn Hill

The former Fugee inked a deal worth $1 million for recording five songs, plus more cash if she completed a new album, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

That could be HUGE - not just because it's a big sum, but because Lauryn Hill's tax evasion was delayed by two weeks to give her a final chance.

Lauryn Hill claims the reason she stiffed the United States on massive tax bills for years is essentially the same reason she fell off the map after the '90s.

Fear.

Lauryn filed legal document asking for mercy before her sentencing later this month, claiming there was a reason she failed to file tax returns from 2005-07.

Hill has already pleaded guilty and faces several years in prison.

Lauryn Hill's very serious mug shot has emerged, two months after the singer pleaded guilty to not paying federal taxes between 2005-2007.

This is one of the more intense ones in our celebrity mug shots gallery.

The eight-time Grammy award-winner three years in prison. She is free on $150,000 bond and is scheduled to be sentenced November 27.

The Fugees singer responded to the charges by saying she had withdrawn from society in an effort to guarantee the safety of herself and her family.

Lauryn went on to rail against our culture's "climate of hostility, false entitlement, manipulation, racial prejudice, sexism and ageism" on Tumblr:

Boy band Mindless Behavior flat out dissed Lauryn Hill on live TV last night, and the joke apparently upset Beyonce, one of the 2012 BET Award winners, to the point where she changed her acceptance speech to honor The Fugees singer.

The diss went down womedian Mike Epps and the guys from Mindless Behavior were all getting set to co-present the award for Best R&B Artist.

Mike, who can't carry a tune to save his life, jokingly tried to sing. One of the dudes said, "You sing BAD ... like Lauryn Hill's tax accountant bad."

The zinger, a reference to Lauryn Hill's felony tax evasion case, elicited gasps from the crowd, including Beyonce, who was far from pleased.

Winning the award moments later, Bey said, "I want to thank all the talented R&B women that came before me like Lauryn Hill and Mary J. Blige."

As she walked off stage, she could be heard venting about the insult, saying the dude's Lauryn Hill joke was "disrespectful" and "not cool."

When a BET handler complimented Beyonce's shout-out to the maligned Hill, the "Halo" singer replied, "I just felt [the diss] was wrong."

What do you think of the Lauryn Hill diss?

Singer Lauryn Hill just pleaded guilty to a federal crime, admitting she did not file several years' worth of tax returns in the past decade, and failed to do so on purpose no less.

The 37-year-old faces up to three years in prison as a result. Hill failed to pay up in 2005, 2006, and 2007, when she earned more than $1.8 million.

When the judge asked if Hill "intentionally and willingly" failed to file the returns, she said simply, "Yes." The Fugees frontwoman was released on $150,000 bail.

In addition to the three years behind bars, Hill could be hit with $75,000 in fines. Wonder if she can write that off to help reduce her tax liability for 2012.

Hill welcomed her sixth child in 2011; her first five were with her longtime partner Rohan Marley. Her sentencing hearing is set for November.
