Lauryn Hill's sentencing hearing Monday saw the singer's attorney claim that she's paid off all of her debts - more than $970,000 in state and federal taxes.
Was that enough to keep the singer out of the slammer?
No. She'll be headed to federal prison for three months!
A Newark, N.J., judge, in dishing out the sentence of Lauryn Hill, said after she does the three months, three more months of house arrest will follow.
After that, she must do nine months of supervised release.
Lauryn Hill has a new record deal, she said on her Tumblr, while refuting reports that she was just evicted by her landlord and is a squatter of sorts.
"Yes, I have recently entered into an agreement with Sony Worldwide Entertainment, to launch a new label, on which my new music will be released."
"And yes, I am working on new music."
The former Fugee inked a deal worth $1 million for recording five songs, plus more cash if she completed a new album, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.
That could be HUGE - not just because it's a big sum, but because Lauryn Hill's tax evasion was delayed by two weeks to give her a final chance.

The diss went down womedian Mike Epps and the guys from Mindless Behavior were all getting set to co-present the award for Best R&B Artist.
Mike, who can't carry a tune to save his life, jokingly tried to sing. One of the dudes said, "You sing BAD ... like Lauryn Hill's tax accountant bad."
The zinger, a reference to Lauryn Hill's felony tax evasion case, elicited gasps from the crowd, including Beyonce, who was far from pleased.
Winning the award moments later, Bey said, "I want to thank all the talented R&B women that came before me like Lauryn Hill and Mary J. Blige."
As she walked off stage, she could be heard venting about the insult, saying the dude's Lauryn Hill joke was "disrespectful" and "not cool."
When a BET handler complimented Beyonce's shout-out to the maligned Hill, the "Halo" singer replied, "I just felt [the diss] was wrong."

Singer Lauryn Hill just pleaded guilty to a federal crime, admitting she did not file several years' worth of tax returns in the past decade, and failed to do so on purpose no less.
The 37-year-old faces up to three years in prison as a result. Hill failed to pay up in 2005, 2006, and 2007, when she earned more than $1.8 million.
When the judge asked if Hill "intentionally and willingly" failed to file the returns, she said simply, "Yes." The Fugees frontwoman was released on $150,000 bail.
In addition to the three years behind bars, Hill could be hit with $75,000 in fines. Wonder if she can write that off to help reduce her tax liability for 2012.
Hill welcomed her sixth child in 2011; her first five were with her longtime partner Rohan Marley. Her sentencing hearing is set for November.

Now, the singer is facing controversy in the professional realm.
According to guitarist Jay Gore, the singer pretty much sucks as a person. He has filed a lawsuit against Hill in which he accuses her of berating fellow musicians and stiffing them out of payment.
"After shows, Hill would demand that the musicians and road support personnel attend meetings where she would engage in a person-by-person critique and berating," Gore writes in court documents, adding: "At one point, Hill made a statement in front of the tour personnel to the effect that 'I can't believe I am paying you fools, you should be paying me.'"
Gore is demanding $20,000 and claims others have been "mistreated by Ms. Hill in a similar manner."
Lauryn Hill just gave birth to her sixth child, but the blessing has been marred by Internet chatter. Many have been wondering why Rohan Marley, the father of Hill's previous five children, has not been in the picture.
In response, the singer posted the following message on her website today:
"[Rohan and I] have had long periods of separation over the years but our 5 children together remain a joy to both of us... Mr. Marley did not abandon me while pregnant with his child... Thank you for your concern and I appreciate all of the well-wishes regarding the birth of my new son."
Marley, meanwhile, Tweeted: "People would rather listen to gossip than hear from the actual individuals. Some people just don't want the truth.
The truth seems to be that Hill has given birth to another man's baby, but all is well and who are we to judge? Congrats to the artist!
