On making a name in fashion, LC says that “I’ve sacrificed and worked very hard to get where I am now. I’ve been working every single day since I was 17."

"I’m also faced with a different set of challenges. I go to meetings, and people have this preconceived notion of me that I didn’t work hard to get where I am.”

As for her former co-stars' paths' such as Heidi Montag’s plastic surgery and Jason Wahler joining Celebrity Rehab: “They’ve moved on to a different life now."

"Being on a show like that is a lot more than people think. You’re thrust into the spotlight. There’s all this pressure to act a certain way. It’s hard to adjust."

On her new reality show: “It’s going to be very different. I’m doing it on my own terms now. I get final editing approval. That was the only way I agreed."

Lauren Conrad is a busy woman these days.

The former star of The Hills, and future star of a new reality show, was all smiles as she proudly pulled double book promotion duty at an NYC Barnes & Noble Tuesday.

LC promoted her new book Style as well as Sugar and Spice, the latest installment of her "LA Candy" series, providing us a chance to post two Lauren Conrad pictures!

Anyone complaining? Didn't think so.

From Laguna Beach to The Hills to ... the boardroom?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lauren Conrad is set to return to MTV in a new reality show chronicling the budding fashion designer's quest to create a new line of evening wear and builds a fashion house from the ground up.

Certainly a departure from clubbing at Les Deux ...

"I'm so excited to take on this new project that really focuses on my true passion," Conrad confirms. "I'm happy to be partnering with MTV because I have such an amazing relationship with them and love being a part of the network."

Berman Braun will be producing LC's new reality series.

"We are so excited to be working with Lauren again," Tony DiSanto, president of programing at MTV, said yesterday. "She is family, we are very proud of her."

She quit The Hills because she was tired of cameras following her, but reports say Lauren Conrad has signed a deal with MTV to star in a new reality show.

The network won the battle to air LC’s venture back into reality TV, after the stylish blonde decided to remain to the network which made her famous.

"MTV has won it," confirmed a source close to the 24-year-old Conrad.

"There is already a production company and a director for the project."

LC-YOU SOON? Conrad may be back on MTV after all!

While Lauren Conrad has not confirmed the news, the star has said that if and when she returns to the silver screen, her private life would be off limits.

“The only way I’d return to reality TV would be if it allowed me to decide when the cameras stop,” she said. “My professional life is more interesting.”

Maybe, maybe not, but anything LC does would likely be a hit for the network, given the star's strong popularity and the success of other reality shows.

Since leaving The Hills, she's turned into an entrepreneur, a best-selling author and successful designer. That and a bona fide cutie! What's not to love?

Lauren Conrad is making a comeback!

The former Hills star, best-selling author and fashion designer tells the latest issue of Us Weekly that she'd welcome a return to reality TV... under one condition.

"The only way I'd return to reality TV would be if it allowed me to decide when the cameras stop," she says.

In an interview with the magazine, Lauren also talks about future books, her relationship with Kyle Howard and more. We've really missed LC, haven't you?

The first wave of the LC Lauren Conrad Fall 2010 collection is expected to hit stores this month, with more items making their way into the chain by September.

We've missed her ever since she retired from The Hills (as has Heidi Montag), but we respect her so much for it. No sense staying on that sinking ship, right?

Between her successful novels and fashion designing endeavors, she's managed to do what she loves and live a more normal life. Kudos to LC for that choice!

Heidi Montag wants to get in touch with her inner nature girl again. She also longs for her old BFF back, and nostalgically watches repeats of The Hills.

The plastic princess, who was inexplicably booted off the show in its final season and recently filed for divorce from Spencer Pratt, is lost these days.

Her family and what few friends she has left can't get in touch with her, and she's been oddly absent from her beloved celebrity sites' photo galleries.

What's she been up to?

"Watching old Hills [episodes]," the 'Tag Tweeted at two of her former MTV co-stars. "I miss you @AudrinaPatridge and most of all @laurenconrad."

Neither Audrina Patridge nor Lauren Conrad responded to the Tweets.

LC & HEIDI: Many moons and plastic surgeries ago.

Former roommates and best friends, Heidi Montag and Conrad's relationship famously cooled thanks to controlling boyfriend-turned husband Pratt.

LC accused the gruesome twosome of leaking a rumor about a sex tape starring herself and Jason Wahler. When Heidi Montag attempted to mend fences with her, Conrad brushed her off, quipping, "I want to forgive you - and forget you."

Might they rekindle their friendship now that he's out of the picture? We wouldn't count on it, but separating from King Spencer can only help the cause.

Citing irreconcilable differences, Montag filed for divorce from the mountain man in Santa Monica, Calif. Spencer Pratt didn't seem too sad, saying:

"Well, some say if you can't handle the heat get out of the kitchen. Heidi couldn't handle King Spencer's fame so she got out of the marriage."

Lauren Conrad is ready to re-enter the fashion scene.

After halting production of her first clothing line last year amidst the recession and a bleak retail landscape, LC has a new contemporary collection underway.

With the affordable Lauren Conrad Collection already being sold at Kohl’s, the former star of The Hills is starting a new line with several of her best friends.

“It’s a contemporary women’s line,” she said. “Where Kohl’s is a lot of daywear, it’s a lot of basics. This will be more specialty basics, more of a boutique line."

"It will be at a higher price point. It will be very different.”

Lauren Conrad's California style is a hit with teens and adults alike.

While the 24-year-old said her new collection is just getting started, but she can’t contain her excitement when it comes to working on a line all on her own.

“It’s one thing to work with a huge retailer like Kohl’s and there is so much you get to do, but there is a little more of a thrill of doing it yourself,” she said.

With greater responsibility and pressure comes greater reward, a fact that the budding designer is somewhat intimidated by, but mostly excited about.

Adds LC, who's also planning a new novel series, “It’s a lot more work, and it’s more stressful, but it’s something I love doing so I’m looking forward to it.”

So are we. Way to go, LC!

Lauren Conrad is going rogue.

The L.A. Candy author says that for her next work of literary mastery, she's planning a darker spinoff of sorts featuring one of her current characters.

"I'm going to take Madison from the book and do a darker series," she said at The Hills finale party. "I already wrote a little bit and it was really fun."

L.A. Candy focuses on Jane Roberts, a young woman who moves to Hollywood, gets a job with an event planner and eventually lands a reality show.

That all sounds vaguely familiar ...

For Lauren Conrad, L.A. Candy is art imitating life. Or The Hills.

Like LC, Jane isn't always happy with her fame and the attention it brings, while her friend Madison takes the opposite approach and just eats it up.

Again, feels like we've heard this somewhere.

"I think it would be really fun to do it the other way, with someone who loves it," Conrad said. "Someone who loves fame and plays the game well."

She certainly has enough real-life material to draw on.

Lauren is still working on the third book in the Candy series, but we're already looking forward to reading the exploits of crazy Heidi Montag ... er, Madison.

Given their history, Kristin Cavallari and Lauren Conrad may never be BFFs. But The Hills stars aren't exactly feuding, either. The two are "cool," Kristin says.

The two Laguna Beach beauties famously dated the same guy, Stephen Colletti, on the hit MTV reality show that spawned The Hills, which starred Conrad.

In a hilariously contrived move, Cavallari replaced LC as the protagonist and "narrator" of the series in 2009, when she decided to leave after five seasons.

Following The Hills series finale this week, the two reunited along with the whole cast, past and present, at the live after-show bash at the Roosevelt Hotel.

Despite what some think, the two don't hate each other at all.

"I saw her at the wrap party on Saturday and we caught up," Cavallari said at the after-show party, explaining that they're now cordial, but that's about it.

"We are not going to lunch together and I don’t have her phone number, but we are cool," adds Cavallari of Conrad, who's kept a low profile this past year.

Both girls also dated Brody Jenner at some point.

Speaking of that guy, whose fake relationship with Kristin was a primary, bogus story line this season, he's now with Avril Lavigne - but still close to Kristin.

"Our friendship is the most important thing and I don't think that anything will ever get in the way of that," says Cavallari, who's dating Miguel Medina.
