We still love you, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina.

Neither of these former American Idol finalists enjoyed a great Thanksgiving yesterday, as each was given a prime spot to perform - and each suffered through an embarrassing mishap.

FIRST, McCreery stood atop a float during the Macy's parade and prepared to sing a version of "The Trouble with Girls." But a recording of the track started a few seconds before the young crooner started to lip synch, resulting in the following awkward start to the performance:

Appearing on reality shows, it does a body good!

A day after Ricki Lake showed off her newly-trim figure, courtesy of a stint on Dancing with the Stars, American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina has opened up about the steps she's taken to shed 25 pounds in just a couple months.

What's the secret?

It looks like Lauren Alaina's debut album is not the only thing doing well!

"Changing my diet was the big thing," Alaina tells Us Weekly. "I had to learn correct portion control... I eat an egg-white omelet for breakfast, shrimp and veggies for lunch and chicken with asparagus for dinner."

Exercise is also key. Alaina enjoys daily workouts that include crunches, pushups and squats. She's down to a size two and she has 10 more pounds to go until she reaches her goal.

Go get 'em, girl!

Lauren Alaina may not have won American Idol, but she's already proving formidable on the music charts with her first single, "Like My Mother Does."

The track entered Billboard's all-genre Hot 100 chart at No. 20, in addition to No. 9 on the trade's Digital Songs chart, with 121,204 single downloads sold.

This impressive feat marks the highest debut for an Idol runner-up in six years, besting a group that includes David Archuleta and Adam Lambert.

"This is so awesome!" Lauren Alaina said. "American Idol has changed my life, so I'm excited that the songs I performed on there are doing so well."

"I can't believe that I have a song out on country radio, much less that so many stations started playing it right away. I can't wait to get out and meet everybody and thank them personally for playing my song."

Something tells us she'll have time. This girl will be around awhile.

There's no rest for the talented.

Just days after they all performed on the season 10 finale of American Idol, champion Scotty McCreery and the rest of the final four took to the stage again in Atlanta. They were on hand to help open a new Microsoft store in the city.

On a hot afternoon, Scotty performed "I Love You This Big," "Gone" and "Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not," while Lauren went with "Flat on the Floor" and "Like My Mother  Does." Haley Reinhart and James Durbin also belted out a few singles, all of which are posted below. Watch and enjoy!

They did battle on the American Idol stage. But Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina will soon do so again on the radio.

Both finalists have recorded studio versions of songs they sang on the Tuesday night finale - "I Love You This Big" for Scotty and "Like My Mother Does" for Lauren - and each will soon be available on iTunes and blasted in cars around the country.

With Scotty and Lauren both entering the country music industry, this likely won't be the last time their singles compete. Listen to both official renditions below and cast your vote between these two once more...

THG Asks!

Welcome to THG's new feature, in which two of our celebrity gossip experts debate topical issues in the entertainment world and you decide who wrote the winning argument!

Today, THG Asks: Did Scotty McCreery deserve to win American Idol?

YES by Free Britney

Two words: 122 million. That's the number of people who crowned the newest American Idol this week.

Not exactly a small sample size. We could keep playing the numbers game - how many songs, how many aspirants he bested - but you get the idea.

Some will say Pia Toscano was ousted too soon, and she probably was. Ditto James Durbin. But can anyone really dispute Scotty McCreery's worthiness?

Many of this year's eliminations were controversial, but only relative to some of the contestants who outlasted them - not to Scotty specifically.

He's got an outstanding voice perfectly suited for country, and he proved it time and again. What he lacks in flair, he makes up for with talent.

Slow, smooth and steady won this race, and deservedly so.

The Idol Winner is ...

NO by Hilton Hater

Scotty McCreery is a fantastic singer. If I were going purely by voice, he'd have earned my vote as American Idol champion after his first audition.

But forget what the judges say: This is not purely a singing competition.

There are, and there should be, other factors at work. The legitimacy of Idol itself is at stake, especially with new competition such as The Voice and The X-Factor.

It really needs to crank out a successful winner, and Lauren Alaina stands a better chance at sustained success than Scotty does.

For whatever reason, male victors simply don't do well on the charts. Kris Allen? David Cook? Lee DeWyze? Can anyone name a top 10 single by any of them?

As evidenced by her duet with Carrie Underwood, Alaina has a long way to go. But she's tough. She overcame a sprained throat to compete in the finals.

She clearly wants this and I have no doubt she has more potential to be the next Carrie than Scotty has to be more than a one-month wonder.

THG Asks you ... did Scotty deserve to win?

Lauren Alaina may not have won American Idol last night, but the aspiring country star earned a pretty solid consolation prize: she got to sing in front of millions with her own idol.

Indeed, Carrie Underwood returned to the stage that made her famous and teamed up with the young singer for a fun duet of "Before He Cheats."

While Lauren is talented, and hopefully has a long career in front of her, it's amazing to watch the difference between this finalist and an experienced artist such as Underwood. It's impossible not to notice the contrast in voice and swagger between the performers below.

Then again, Alaina is only 16. She may get to Carrie's level someday...

Following a vocal chord injury that left this finalist perilously close to not competing, Lauren Alaina took to the stage and told viewers "I'm fine." But she concluded the night a lot better than that.

Thanks to a concluding number of "Like My Mother Does," sang to her actual mother in the crowd, Alaina left an impression that had all the judges practically crowning her champion.

"With that song, you may have just won," J. Lo gushed. "You sang it beautifully. It was perfect for you."

Check out the performance now, followed by Lauren's first two from the finale - "Maybe It Was Memphis" and "Flat on the Floor" - and sound off: is this the next American Idol?
