After a few months on the shelf following hip surgery, Lady Gaga returned to the spotlight this week to sing the National Anthem at NYC's Gay Pride Parade.

The LGBT community is, of course, near and dear to Gaga's heart, and she let them know it Saturday with this rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" ...

“It’s my LGBT friends and fans who always said to me, 'I knew Lady Gaga when...'” she said. “Well, look who the star is now. Now I get to say I knew you when."

"When you suffered, when you felt unequal, when you felt there was nothing to look forward to,” she added as she launched into the song with a rainbow flag.

At the end, she changed up the lyrics a bit, replacing “star-spangled banner” with "star-spangled flag of pride” and “home of the brave” with “home for the gays.”

A French artist is suing Lady Gaga for plagiarism.

Orlan, who's been active in the French art scene for decades, claims Gaga basically aped her style, and has a list of reasons why this is the case.

Gaga 4 Gaga

Notably, Gaga, like Orlan, takes a stage name, and employs visual and conceptual references to Catholic imagery, the human body, and celebrity.

That sounds broad, and without a doubt it is.

Yet there's an entire Tumblr dedicated to the similarities between the two, Gagaorlan, and in a 1993 Art in America feature, Orlan is described as such:

Lady Gaga may be on the shelf recovering from hip surgery, but the pop star is looking forward to a planned album of duets with Tony Bennett.

The 86-year-old crooner also dropped some hints about his highly anticipated collaboration with Gaga, which she first announced in January.

"We have it all worked out already on paper," the legendary singer said, telling The Philadelphia Inquirer about the duo's "big swing album."

Bennett also added that he was drawn to working with Lady Gaga, of all people, because "she's quite different." Well, that's one way to put it.

The two had previously teamed up on "The Lady Is a Tramp" for his 2011 album, Duets II (above), and have hinted at another collaboration ever since.

Looks like those plans are coming to fruition!

Will Lady Gaga's new album mark a resurgence for the songstress?

It's hard to believe, but it's been two years since Born This Way dropped. Since then, the 26-year-old has dropped out of the public consciousness a bit.

Her forthcoming record ARTPOP should chance that ... right?

How does she view ARTPOP?

Lady Gaga will do anything for the sake of art. And pop.

Even give up marijuana to ensure perfect recordings.

Lady Gaga, Topless Weed

Never one to be shy about her obsession for pot (see video of Lady Gaga smoking weed onstage), she says ARTPOP will not be produced under its influence.

"No weed on Artpop. No," Gaga revealed in a chat with fans last week ... at least not in the studio. "Weed in the bathtub though. Hahaha," she joked.

Jack White is not impressed by Lady Gaga.

The singer gave an interview with Esquire UK in which he described Mother Monster's music in less than flattering terms. Basically, he says it's all very superficial.

  • Jack White Pic
  • Ga Ga Ra Ah Ahhhhh

"You can't sink your teeth into it," he added. "It's a sound bite."

"It's very much of this age, because that's what people want."

"I don't think she lives it because it's all artifice," he adds.

The 37-year-old rocker of The White Stripes fame then mused that the "goal of modern celebrity is to make yourself into the lowest common denominator."

Ouch. Do you agree with Jack's assessment of Gaga?

Lady Gaga brought her controversial new song about Princess Diana, "Princess Die," to the Princess' home country at Twickenham Stadium in London Saturday.

Gaga explained that "Princess Die" is a commentary on the effects of fame, including Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston and even herself, to a degree.

"Since I was a very young girl, the people's princess was the most important person in me and my mother's life," Gaga said before performing the ballad.

"I swore if I ever had an audience like this in London, I'd take a moment to appreciate her ... This is for her, Amy Winehouse, Alexander McQueen, Whitney Houston and me."

True to Gaga's nature, the lyrics of the song are rather dark. Among them:

"Leave the coffin open when I go / Leave my pearls and lipstick on so everybody knows / Pretty will be the photo I leave / Laying down on famous knives so everybody sees."

Also true to form, Gaga invited a lucky female fan on stage for the performance, placing a tiara on the Little Monster's head as she sat beside her. Aww.

What do you think of Lady Gaga's "Princess Die"?
