Lady Gaga and the cast of Glee are among those nominated for honors at the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards, to be handed out later this winter.

The awards "recognize and honor media for its fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community."

Previous GLAAD Award winner Gaga is up for Outstanding Music Artist along with The Voice's Beverly McClellan, Girl in a Coma, Hunx and His Punx, and MEN.

Pretty Little Liars, which features a lesbian character, will face off against Degrassi, Grey's Anatomy, Shameless and Torchwood for Outstanding Drama Series.

On the comedy side, Modern Family will duke it out against Glee, Happy Endings and The Big C. The Glee Project is also up for Outstanding Reality Program.

Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar, meanwhile, has been recognized in the Outstanding Film: Wide Release category alongside Albert Nobbs and Beginners.

Three separate ceremonies will be held to hand out the awards, in New York on March 24, Los Angeles on April 21 and San Francisco on June 2.

With an episode titled "Born This Way," Glee is paying homage to Lady Gaga April 26. In a 90-minute episode, New Directions will perform her latest smash hit.

That week (the show's second episode back from hiatus), Mr. Schuester teaches the club a lesson about self-acceptance and embracing what makes us unique.

Thus the parallels with Gaga's anthem for those very themes:

While it makes sense that the show will have a finger on the pulse of the music world, some fans say it needs a new direction (pun intended) in its writing.

The perceived pursuit of hot tunes to shoehorn into episodes, rather of focusing on characters and writing that made the show a hit, is a frequent criticism.

Do you agree? Or do you love the hit Glee music tie-ins?

Move over, Justin Bieber. You've got Glee-ful company.

Ryan Murphy, creator of the Fox series, says a future episode will feature a single that hasn't even been released yet: Lady Gaga's "Born This Way."

How will Glee utilize her new song, due out in February (the album of the same name comes out in May)? It'll involve Kurt's nemesis, Karofsky.

BORN THIS WAY: Glee will devote an entire episode to the song.

“I love that that song is anthem,” says Murphy. “So I don’t really know what [it's] going to be yet, but ... we’re going to do a whole episode that’s about that song.”

While the full version has not yet been heard, Gaga recently dropped her pants (and the release date). The Lady also sang part of it a capella at the MTV VMAs.

Here's that one verse re-mixed over a Gaga-esque beat ...

Glee paid tribute to Lady Gaga Tuesday. Perhaps you heard.

Critics and fans loved the Fox show's episode, which drew praise from the often-imitated, never duplicated (sorry, Christina Aguilera) star as well.

“I love Glee,” the singer told EW. “I went to a musical theatre school, and used to dream that someday the students would be singing my songs.”

Gaga also posted on Twitter about the Glee episode, called "Theatricality," summing her feelings up simply: "GLEE WAS SO AMAZING! AHHH!!!!"

Pretty much the exact reaction of our critic's Glee review.

This week’s episode saw New Directions do just that, when the club’s female vocalists, and Kurt, donned some of Gaga’s most memorable looks.

They proceeded to rock the house with “Bad Romance.” But it was Rachel’s duet with Shelby of “Poker Face” what stole the show a little later on.

“I don’t channel Lady Gaga,” cast member and Broadway veteran Idina Menzel said of tackling the showstopper. “I’m just in awe of Lady Gaga.”

That's high praise, but well-earned. Here's hoping that Gaga's health problems improve and she returns to the stage in short, awesome order.
