MTV VMAs Fashion Face-Off: Lady Gaga vs. Nicki Minaj
Talk about a matchup made in celebrity fashion heaven.
Lady Gaga's performance as Jo Calderone wasn't the last we saw of her male alter ego at the MTV Video Music Awards. She showed up at Sunday's event in character and continued to channel Jo at an after party following the show!
Topping last year's meat dress wasn't easy, but she may have managed it in her understated drag. That is way too convincing. Gaga may have even outshone Nicki Minaj - not an easy feat - for wildest couture choice of the night.
Whose fashion do you think was best? Cast your vote!
Lady Gaga VMA Performance: Jo Calderone Rants, Sings "You and I"!
Little Monsters already know Jo Calderone is Lady Gaga's alter ego. What they didn't know before last night's Video Music Awards is that the two were an item!
"My name is Jo Calderone," the 25-year-old said, showing up in drag as part of her wild, extended pre-performance monologue. "Lady Gaga? She left me!"
Fully committed to the character for several minutes, smoking a cigarette as he/she addressing the crowd, "Jo" grew more and more animated ...
"[Lady Gaga] is f**king crazy!" he/she said. "For example, she gets out of the bed, puts on the heels. She comes out of the bathroom dripping wet and she's still got the heels on ... And what's with the hair?
"At first it was sexy, but now I'm just confused. I think it's really f**king great that she's such a star and all ... but how am I supposed to shine?"
There you go. Finally, Lady Gaga sat down and belted out a soulful rendition of "You and I." Brian May from Queen came on stage and joined her.
What did you think of her performance? Was it great to see Jo Calderone in person like that, or did the gag get old? Certainly original, right?
Lady Gaga to Guest Star on The Simpsons
Lady Gaga has signed on for a guest spot on The Simpsons, according to EW. Better yet, she's already recorded the voiceovers for her role this season!
In “Lisa Goes Gaga,” the singer makes a pit stop in Springfield after learning that it’s teeming with low self-esteem. There, she winds up trying to cheer up a dejected Lisa through the power of speech, song, and a flash mob.
Obviously. Here's Lady Gaga recording her lines yesterday:
Gaga admits her visit to Simpsons HQ was “a little nerve-wracking.”
“I make music, but I don’t do voice-overs every day of the week, and the characters are so awesomely convincing and sincere and wild and funny, I had to remind myself constantly of the sincerity of the humor,” she tells EW.
“That’s what I was trying to focus on, not putting on a character too much. Really I tried to just be as sincere as I could with the lines.”
Sounds like it was worth it in the end:
“I would say this is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done,” says Gaga. “My dad’s probably going to do 80 backflips when the episode comes out.”
She rules. We can't wait for The Simpsons quotes this produces ...
Lady Gaga: Topless For MTV VMA Promo!
Lady Gaga's performance in a promo for the MTV VMAs next weekend - an event she will be performing at - comes as no surprise to fans of the singer.
The 25-year-old superstar multitasks nicely as she strips off a black bra for no real reason while performing a jazzy version of her latest hit, "You & I."
Sporting black trousers and long platinum blonde hair, the Lady sings alongside a jazz band for the clip to promote the August 28 awards program.
Grand piano? Check. Freedom from constraining undergarments? Check.
In the black and white video, she ends her striptease modestly, covering herself with a song sheet as she looks into a camera in the middle of an MTV logo.

Barney's to Reinvent Santa's Workshop: Gaga Style!
Christmas is getting a makeover at Barney's, Lady Gaga style.
The star is going to reinterpret Santa's workshop and put it on display at the clothing chain come winter. Gaga will get an entire floor and take over the coveted windows beginning in mid-November at the retailer's flagship Madison Avenue store!
We can only imagine what lies in store ...
There will also be a collection of Lady Gaga's Workshop gift items that will raise money for a charity of her choice, according to a Barney's release.
Campaign visuals, including a cartoon rendering of the Mother Monster with long blue hair and a sparkly red jumpsuit, will be used to decorate shopping bags and other packaging, and will be featured on the company's website.
Here's hoping for wrapping paper inspired by Gaga's "You and I" video!

Lady Gaga "You and I" Video: Watch, React Now!
The music video for Lady Gaga’s latest single, “You and I,” has made its way online. We're not sure if it was leaked or released officially, but here it is!
The new track is the fourth single off her album Born This Way, and in typical Gaga fashion, it melds provocative imagery with her musical talents.
In recent days/weeks, Little Monsters were teased with promises of androgyny, mermaids, Gaga's drag alter ego Jo Calderone, and her banged up feet.
The video features all of that, plus Gaga having sex rather overtly. Check it out below and tell us what you think of her latest song and video:
Lady Gaga's Feet: ALL Banged Up!
The Mother Monster sure knows how to tantalize her legions of fans.
Lady Gaga tweeted a sneak peek of her upcoming "You and I" music video by sharing a picture of her banged-up, dirty feet strapped in black high heels.
To symbolize a long, painful walk to return to her lover, says she.
"The [music video is about the] idea that when you're away from someone you love, it's torture," the 25-year-old Born This Way singer has said.
"I knew I wanted the video to be about me sprinting back and walking hundreds of thousands of miles [from NYC to Nebraska] to get him back."
"I'm walking with no luggage and no nothing and it's just me and my ankles are bleeding and there's grass stuck in my shoes."
"I've got this outfit on and it's real sort of New York clothing and I'm sprinting."
Gaga's "You and I" music video will be released Thursday in what she says will be her 1,000th tweet. Gaga's at 996 right now, so hopefully she doesn't have too much she wants to share with us in the next 36 hours or so.
Normal Fashion Face-Off: Rihanna vs. Lady Gaga!
Because Rihanna and Lady Gaga are known almost as much for their outrageous, eye-popping couture choices as for their hit songs, the pop singers' toned-down fashion selections this weekend were all the more noteworthy.
Normally dressed, the bare-faced ladies practically hid in plain sight!
Rihanna emerged from a restaurant largely make-up free and with her natural curls pulled back into a high ponytail. Gaga, meanwhile, rocked regular blonde hair in a single-shoulder Versace dress with sunglasses, a clutch and black pumps.
Sure, that ensemble still stood out, but compared to a meat dress or a nude nun suit, it's downright boring! Whose weekend style do you prefer? Vote!
Lady Gaga in Drag as Jo Calderone: The Return!
Gaga, is that you? Oh yes!
The singer has resurrected her androgynous alter ego, Jo Calderone, for the cover of her new "You and I" single. Would you have even guessed that's her?
We have to say, Jo is looking even less like her than the previous Lady Gaga drag photos he appeared in. You can see it's her face, but wow. Check it out:
You can sort of picture Jo on a stoop in Gaga's natve Upper West Side.
Lady Gaga created Jo Calderone, a model and her drag alter-ego, last summer. He/she is a slick, cigarette-smoking street tough with an attitude.
"You will never find what you are looking for in love, if you don't love yourself. #You&ISingleCover," the Mother Monster proclaimed on Twitter.
She promised to release the single's music video when she hits her 1,000th tweet. She's currently at 992, so it shouldn't be too much longer.
No word if Jo appears in the video as well.
