Lady Gaga's costume choice at a concert in England over the weekend brought back found memories of another pop music icon - vintage Britney Spears.

But would that be a good thing here?

Mother and Toddler

The outfit reminded us of the one worn during Britney Spears' infamous MTV Awards opening song in 2007, easily one of the worst ever by any performer.

To her credit, Ms. Spears has come a long way since those dazed 5150 days. But even now, can Britney 2.0 compete with the awesomeness of Lady Gaga?

Who's a better singer? Vote below!

Lady Gaga (2010) and Britney Spears (2007) get down, dirty and ogled by backup dancers. The poses and costumes are similar. Which powerhouse do you prefer?

Glee paid tribute to Lady Gaga Tuesday. Perhaps you heard.

Critics and fans loved the Fox show's episode, which drew praise from the often-imitated, never duplicated (sorry, Christina Aguilera) star as well.

“I love Glee,” the singer told EW. “I went to a musical theatre school, and used to dream that someday the students would be singing my songs.”

Gaga also posted on Twitter about the Glee episode, called "Theatricality," summing her feelings up simply: "GLEE WAS SO AMAZING! AHHH!!!!"

Pretty much the exact reaction of our critic's Glee review.

This week’s episode saw New Directions do just that, when the club’s female vocalists, and Kurt, donned some of Gaga’s most memorable looks.

They proceeded to rock the house with “Bad Romance.” But it was Rachel’s duet with Shelby of “Poker Face” what stole the show a little later on.

“I don’t channel Lady Gaga,” cast member and Broadway veteran Idina Menzel said of tackling the showstopper. “I’m just in awe of Lady Gaga.”

That's high praise, but well-earned. Here's hoping that Gaga's health problems improve and she returns to the stage in short, awesome order.

She nearly collapsed on stage in March and had to cancel several shows earlier this year citing exhaustion. Her latest health scare - lupus - is even more alarming.

Is Lady Gaga on the verge of a physical breakdown?

"I'm very connected to my aunt, Joanne, who died of lupus," the pop star tells The Times of London, adding that she's been tested. "It's a very personal thing."

Gaga did not elaborate, but doesn't "want anyone to be worried" about the disease, in which the immune system attacks the body and which can be genetic.

"I have heart palpitations and things. But it's okay. It's just from fatigue and other things," the singer, who said she fainted during her New Zealand concert.

Hey, at least the amputated leg rumors are false ... right?

Lady Gaga Retreats

Her most recent health emergency: "The other day," Gaga said.

In Tokyo, where she was "having trouble breathing," the accused Christina Aguilera copycat was fine after receiving "a little oxygen" and went back on stage.

"I was okay," she says, adding: "I don't want anyone to worry."

Too late, girl. Too late.

As for buzz about her thin body, Gaga insists she doesn't "have an eating problem," but has a busy schedule that doesn't allow "very much time to eat."

Is that not an eating problem then? "I really don't do drugs. I don't touch cocaine any more. I don't smoke," she says. "I do take care of myself."

But much like the Lady Gaga hermaphrodite rumors, don't expect a break anytime soon. She's been touring so relentlessly, it's not even funny.

"People say I should take a break," says the singer. "But I'm like, 'Why should I take a break? What do you want me to do? Go on vacation?"

She's not Christina Aguilera, but she has risen from little-known dance act to one of today's major international music superstars. Such is the life of Lady Gaga.

There's no disputing her sales. But how do you know she's really made it? Because she was invited to perform at Sting's annual Rainforest Fund benefit show.

On Thursday night, Gaga was on-hand for the star-studded show at New York's Carnegie Hall, which also featured performances by a roster of music greats.

Elton John, host Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Mary J. Blige, Blondie's Debbie Harry and many others were there - the first two performing with Lady G herself.

She has her detractors, but Gaga brings her A-game to every concert. Follow the jump for a second video of the rumored hermaphrodite rocking with Sting.

Lady Gaga is not to be outdone.

Amid chatter about whether she copied Christina Aguilera or vice versa, the pop star opted for a stripped-down streamlined look in Stockholm, Sweden.

As Lady Gaga fashion goes, this is one of our favorite looks.

Not only do we love the coat, it looks like she's fleeing her hotel after the fire alarm went off and simply forgot / didn't have time to get dressed ...

Just a typical day in the life of Lady Gaga.

The rumored hermaphrodite was actually headed to the studio here, not to do a live show. Hey, sometimes you've gotta go all-out while you record as well.

Having been away from the business for years, raising her son, Christina Aguilera came back in a major way last week.

She released the video for "Not Myself Tonight," which stirred up controversy over whether it was too sexy and provocative. In other words: it accomplished the exact goal Aguilera had in mind and put her right back on the musical map.

But another controversy has broken out about the single: is it a copycat? Critics allege that Christina has simply stolen her new style and edginess from Lady Gaga in a clear attempt to piggyback off that eccentric singer's success.

To that charge, one Christina fan in particular has a Clueless-like response: AS IF!

In the following video, an Aguilera supporter (with a lot of time on her hands) aims to prove that it's actually the other way around: Gaga has taken her cue from Xtina. Watch and decide for yourself:

Lady Gaga is likely too pissed at Fox to care much about this feud, but you can sound off below. Which artist is the most original?

Whose side are you on?

When it comes to her reaction to Fox's broadcast of her American Idol performance Wednesday, Lady Gaga isn't bothering putting on the p-p-p-p-p-poker face.

She's just straight up annoyed.

The scene-stealing diva lashed out at Fox via Twitter, accusing the network of some shoddy editing work when it came to her much-heralded American Idol visit.

"FOX POORLY+AMATEURLY edited+cut my performance/musical arrangement on idol. Watch real version," she wrote, prompting fans to go elsewhere for it.

Do not edit the Gaga.

The complete, more than six-minute version of Gaga doing "Alejandro," which was cut down to under five by American Idol, can be seen here, thanks to Perez.

On one hand, five whole minutes of a pretaped performance left intact is still a lengthy segment for live TV. On the other hand, the results show is all filler.

Why have Gaga and her non-amputated leg on if you're not going to air it in its full, awesome entirety? What pulse-pounding drama couldn't be cut instead?

Click to enlarge some vintage Lady Gaga pictures below and see why you just do not cut one of the singer's live performances ... it's borderline sacreligious:

American Idol narrowed its field of finalists to four last night by eliminating Aaron Kelly. But the highlight of the night was a performance by Ms. Lady Gaga.

Ratings are way down this season, but that can't be blamed on the show's roster of results night guest performers, which has been consistently impressive.

GaGa's pre-taped performance, which has been widely anticipated, ran over six minutes in length, but due to time constraints, was cut down to under five.

Time constraints. On an all-filler show!

Still, it's definitely worth watching. Here's Lady Gaga doing her newest hit, "Alejandro," and her staple "Bad Romance" last night on American Idol ...

Typically great, no? No one will ever accuse her of phoning in a concert, even if it's just two songs. These things are almost like performance art pieces.

Whether it's Lady Gaga hermaphrodite rumors or amputated leg rumors (she supposedly had it done for fun), she's always at the center of controversy.

She's also a powerhouse performer, week in and week out.

All eyes were on red carpet fashion outside of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday night, but inside the Costume Institute Gala, it was all Lady Gaga.

The rumored hermaphrodite and amuptee stole the show in a sheer Armani crystal catsuit, performed four songs in front of a New York City-themed backdrop.

Pants Nowhere to Be Seen

Cash Warren, there with wife Jessica Alba raved about her performance. “Jess and I are front row center. Insane! She’s amazing,” Warren Tweeted, adding:

“Haven’t heard a voice that wonderful in person in a long time.”

Hi praise. Katy Perry said “I love @ladygaga She’s still cool” and from the slightly older set, Brooke Shields Tweeted: “I love whenever I can see Lady Gaga.”

Britney Spears recorded "Telephone" before Lady Gaga ... according to sketchy reports and a "leaked" demo purported to be Spears' original recording of it.

According to Gawker, Lady Gaga wrote the tune for Britney, who passed on it for her Circus album. Ol' Peg Leg took it back for herself, and it became a hit.

Perez Hilton is convinced that it's Britney doing Gaga's "Telephone." Spears' longest-running fan site, World of Britney, denies the vocals are by its namesake.

"There was almost no Auto Tune in the actual song," the site said. "It was raw vocals and that isn't the song. Those of you with ears can hear its [sic] not B."

Um, okay ... because Britney Spears is all about raw vocal ability and never uses Auto Tune or any sort of overdubs or enhancements whatsoever ... no way.

Take a listen to this "Telephone" version and comment below:

Is the story true? Is the recording even her? Is it any good? Is it an attempt to siphon Gaga's fame (like her manager's campaign for a Britney Glee episode)?

You tell us. What do you think of "Britney's" version?
