Lady Gaga is but one of many stars reacting to Hurricane Sandy online this week, but for the pop star, the weather event hit closer to home than most.
The native New Yorker wrote on her Little Monsters website:
"im not sure where to put these feelings. im so sad. i feel like my entire childhood is underwater. the boardwalk in atlantic city, my old Apts in Brooklyn and LES."
"all the bars and friends. im just so sad."
Botanists at Duke University have honored Lady Gaga by naming a new genus of ferns - consisting of an impressive 19 species - after the eclectic pop superstar.

What gave Duke the idea to do this?
"We wanted to name this genus for Lady Gaga because of her fervent defense of equality and individual expression," said Kathleen Pryer, Duke Professor of Biology.

Apparently, Mother Monster was in London for a "personal appearance and tea party" to promote her new perfume Fame. Singer/rapper MIA caught wind of this.
Lady Gaga just showed Justin Bieber how it's DONE.
Gaga was in the middle of "Edge of Glory" during her concert in Spain this weekend when she bent over and puked, a la Bieber throwing up on stage last month.
She bounced back approximately one second later, however, and continued dancing! It'll take more than vomiting on stage to slow down Mother Monster.

The 26-year-old singer is starting a "Body Revolution" to "inspire bravery and breed some m$therf*cking COMPASSION" when it comes to women's weight and body image issues.
Alley, no stranger to the topic, says more power to her.

Lady Gaga is not letting up in her quest to bring attention to the weight issues she's battled with - that she's been tormented by, even - and affect millions of young girls.
Gaga started a "body revolution" Tuesday by posting unedited pictures of herself in her underwear, with the goal of making her young fans comfortable in their own skin.
"My weight/loss/gain since i was child has tormented me. No amount of help has ever healed my pain. But you have," she told her Little Monsters.
James P. Molinaro just pissed off 25 million Little Monsters and possibly women everywhere. The Staten Island borough president called Lady Gaga a slut yesterday.
In what context, you ask?
To kick off an anti-drug abuse initiative, Molinaro showed off a poster-sized photo of Gaga smoking marijuana on stage in Amsterdam (where it is legal) this month. He said:
"We have to understand there's a tremendous influence with our youth, which I didn't have as a youth. And there's the influence right there. Stop glorifying drug use."
"There's Gaga. Here's this ... I'd call her a slut. This slut is influencing many, many children."
