Lady Gaga, Glee Among GLAAD Award Nominees
Lady Gaga and the cast of Glee are among those nominated for honors at the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards, to be handed out later this winter.
The awards "recognize and honor media for its fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community."
Previous GLAAD Award winner Gaga is up for Outstanding Music Artist along with The Voice's Beverly McClellan, Girl in a Coma, Hunx and His Punx, and MEN.
Pretty Little Liars, which features a lesbian character, will face off against Degrassi, Grey's Anatomy, Shameless and Torchwood for Outstanding Drama Series.
On the comedy side, Modern Family will duke it out against Glee, Happy Endings and The Big C. The Glee Project is also up for Outstanding Reality Program.
Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar, meanwhile, has been recognized in the Outstanding Film: Wide Release category alongside Albert Nobbs and Beginners.
Three separate ceremonies will be held to hand out the awards, in New York on March 24, Los Angeles on April 21 and San Francisco on June 2.
Madonna Sort of Calls Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" a Rip-Off
Are tensions rising between Madonna and Lady Gaga?
In an interview with Newsweek (via the Daily Beast), Madonna commented that Lady Gaga's 2011 single "Born This Way" was a "redo" of her "Express Yourself."
"I thought, this is a wonderful way to redo my song [1989's "Express Yourself"]," she says. "I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was... interesting."
High praise ... not. Here's a side-by-side comparison:
Madonna herself is hardly the only one who's noticed the similarity. NME asked Gaga last year if the song was knockoff of Madonna's hit. She wasn't happy.
"I'm a songwriter. I've written loads of music," the 25-year-old fumed. "Why would I try to put out a song and think I'm getting one over on everybody?"
"What a completely ridiculous thing to even question me about. If you put the songs next to each other, side by side, the only similarities are the chord progression."
"Just because I'm the first f***ing artist in 25 years to think of putting it on Top 40 radio, it doesn't mean I'm a plagiarist, it means that I'm f***ing smart. Sorry."
Strikes a nerve, clearly. That said, both Gaga and Madonna have claimed to be fans of each other's work in the past, and there's no real sign of bad blood.

Who Did Lady Gaga Kiss on New Year's Eve?
Someone locked lips with Lady Gaga on New Year's Eve.
If you guessed that person was her boyfriend Taylor Kinney, you would be ... incorrect! But you're still up on your Gaga gossip and we commend you for that.
No, this would've been a bit harder to see coming. After Lady Gaga's New Year's Eve performance rocked Times Square, she puckered up at midnight with ...
The Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg! Look:
If ever there were a picture worth a thousand words ...
Embracing as the ball dropped, the Grammy winner wore a sequined mask and hizzoner donned a sweater embroidered with the American flag. U-S-A! U-S-A!
Bloomberg officially chose Gaga as his "ball drop partner" a few days prior to the event. For the star, the whole experience of NYC on NYE was very emotional.
"I can't even quite describe what tonight felt like," Gaga, who grew up on the city's Upper West Side, Tweeted. "Sort of poetic madness. A dream come true."
We're guessing she meant the night overall, not just kissing Bloomy. Although you never know, the charming 69-year-old does look handsome in that sweater.
Lady Gaga New Year's Eve Performance: Watch Now!
For native New Yorker Lady Gaga, it was a dream come true.
The singer performed live in Times Square on New Year’s Eve, treating Little Monsters to a medley of “Heavy Metal Lover,” “Marry the Night” and “Born This Way.”
She began the routine in a costume that looked like a cross between Jabba the Hutt, a giant squid and a sequined Pac-Man. Your guess is as good as ours really.
Soon enough, she changed to a (relatively, for Gaga) normal black body suit, Catwoman mask and globe-structure thing. Watch her NYE performance below:
Gaga later helped NYC Mayor Bloomberg push the button to drop the Times Square ball after changing into a sparkly Versace number. What a way to start 2012!
Always emotional but rarely like this, she got a little choked up talking to Ryan Seacrest about the whole thing. Check out her brief interview after the jump:
Taylor Kinney and Lady Gaga Step Out, Go Public
Lady Gaga's officially going public with boyfriend Taylor Kinney.
With a series of just-released photos in which she makes no attempt to hide her affection, the 25-year-old is finally acknowledging what we've known for months: She and The Vampire Diaries' Taylor Kinney are an item, and a cute one at that.
Sources say they're taking it slow, but definitely going strong.
Gaga, who first met Kinney on the set of her "You and I" music video (below) when he starred as her love interest and makeout partner, casually slung her arm over her boyfriend's shoulder as they strolled along a California beach.
While the pair appear cozy and are getting along fabulously, a source close to Gaga insists they're not super serious - mostly because of the strains of her career.
"They're hooking up and getting to know each other," explains the insider. "Gaga can't be too committed because she works 24/7. But she thinks he's the best!"
Good to hear. Let's just hope they make time for each other!

Celebrity of the Year Finalist #2: Lady Gaga!
We're down to the final two.
With the remaining moments of 2011 ticking down by the day (there are only two left!), THG has been ranking the most newsworthy celebrities of the past year.
Starting at #10 with Lindsay Lohan, the countdown moved on to Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, viral video stars, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber. All worthy peeps.
Pretty much everyone in the British Royal Family came in at #4, followed by the winner himself, Charlie Sheen, at #3. Which brings us to COTY finalist #2 ...
... Ms. Lady Gaga!
Yes, Lady Gaga knows how to use shock value and outrageous antics to get attention, but she's so much more than a flash in the pan. The 25-year-old is an artiste, a powerhouse performer and a pop cultural sensation, through and through.
Can anyone really dispute that after the 2011 she's had?
With the release of her epic album Born This Way, and the premiere of its title track at the Grammy Awards, which featured her hatching from an egg on stage, Gaga put the planet on notice that she's just getting started as her generation's pop icon.
Who Was the Most Charitable Celebrity of 2011?
Through numerous drunk driving arrests, sex tapes, bar fights and, well, the existence of Courtney Stodden, it's easy to forget that celebrities actually do a lot of good.
And the organization DoSomething.org wants to remind people of that: it has released a list of the top 20 most charitable stars in 2011, with Lady Gaga leading the way. This singer is almost as well known for her causes - from her support of gay rights to her fight against AIDS and poverty - as she is for her string of number-one hits.
The eccentric singer even visited the White House this month and has created her own charity the Born this Way Foundation.
“There are some interesting trends from this year’s list,” says Aria Finger, COO of DoSomething.org. “It’s dominated by young celebrities and we also see so many couples. Last year the list had its first power couple, Ashton and Demi, and this year there are a total of four couples. Doing good is definitely fun in groups.”
Here are the top 20 do-gooders of 2011, according to the website:
- Lady Gaga
- Justin Bieber
- George Clooney
- Will & Jada Pinkett Smith
- Leonardo DiCaprio
- Matt Damon
- Ellen DeGeneres
- Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie
- Dwight Howard
- Demi Lovato
- Shakira
- Ashton Kutcher & Demi Moore

Stuck on F---in' You: Lady Gaga Releases New Holiday Track!
"Stuck On F***in' You," an unreleased track off Lady Gaga's Born This Way album, is her Christmas gift to her Little Monsters. How very poignant and festive of her!
Says Gaga:
"So to give you a little background to the creation of this song. I wrote it in Minnesota after the Monster Ball on the tour bus. We recorded it in one shot. Fernando on guitar, Paul on Drum Machine. I wrote, sang it, and freestyled the last minute + a half of the song."
Take a listen:
Lady Gaga - Stuck On F--kin' You
"Merry X-mas Little Monsters!" she Tweeted over the weekend.
She notes, "We're in Minnesota/And it's a sold-out show again isn't exactly inspired free-styling, but there you have it. Christmas with bad words."
There you have it. Gaga has spoken. Now it's your turn:
What do you think of the track?

Lady Gaga Sued By Bitter Former Assistant
The new poster child for frivolous lawsuits, Lady Gaga's former assistant claims she was a slave to the music superstar and demands compensation as a result.
Jennifer O'Neill claims she was burdened by onerous tasks such as fetching a towel for Gaga after she showered, and keeping the Lady on a tight schedule!
She claims she is owed $380,000 in overtime (7,168 hours over 13 months, or $53 an hour) that she was never paid by a touring company hired by the star.
O'Neill claims she had to cater to Gaga in "stadiums, private jets, fine hotel suites, yachts, ferries, trains and tour buses" and "required to be at Gaga's beck and call."
Isn't that what a personal assistant does?
O'Neill was technically en employee of the touring company, not Gaga, so the singer is not personally liable regardless of the overtime compensation claim.
In any event, Lady Gaga's rep told the New York Post the lawsuit is "completely without merit," and we would have to guess that the rep is correct.
