Kirstie Alley Dancing with the Stars

A week ago, Kirstie Alley fell to the floor, only to make a full recovery on Dancing With the Stars. Unfortunately, she suffered another mishap last night.

This time, it was a footwear malfunction. Kirstie and Maksim Chmerkovskiy had to fight through more adversity as Alley's left shoe fell off in mid-waltz.

Just like the previous week, they recovered well enough to earn a respectable score – 22 out of 30 – plus sympathy and respect from fans and judges.

"You didn't miss a beat," said Carrie Ann Inaba. Bruno Tonioli agreed, while Len Goodman was less impressed, pointing out the need for improvement.

Still, we'd be surprised if Kirstie and Maks were in jeopardy after a second straight week of bouncing back strongly from a somewhat freakish setback.

Another gal who should be safe? Disney starlet Chelsea Kane, whose Viennese waltz with Mark Ballas earned them the top score of the night at 26.

Hines Ward and Petra Nemcova led the way last night on Dancing With the Stars with scores of 25 apiece, but Kirstie Alley's routine got the most buzz.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy's fall to start his rumba with Kirstie was the defining moment of week three, but the way they recovered was the bigger story.

It appeared that Maks' leg just gave out and he tumbled while holding Alley, who also went down hard. But they rallied for a respectable 21. Watch:

Monday was personal story night on DWTS, with Kirstie and Maks dancing to "Over the Rainbow," and Alley telling the poignant story of her move to L.A.

Who knew she'd have another story to tell right after.

"My thigh just gave out. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry," said Maks, who had to take this really hard as a perfectionist. "It has nothing to do with her."

"Sometimes tragedy leads to an amazingly beautiful moment," Carrie Ann Inaba said, noting that after the fall "something magical happened."

Bruno added, "You can't keep good talent down. Once you got up it was better than ever." Indeed. How did that score of 21 match up? Let's see:

Carrie Ann Inaba just got engaged on live TV, but is there a Dancing With the Stars coverup in the works regarding Kirstie Alley's first wedding?

Star says so. Pretty much guaranteed to be important and true, right?

Kirstie has emerged as a favorite on the show early on, but there's one routine she'd rather forget, the tabloid reports ... her secret first marriage!

Her marriage to Bob Alley ended when - gasp - she left him for another man. This was like 40 years ago. Not exactly riveting celebrity gossip, Star ...

In other news, there's extreme surgery, cocaine and pills going on. Who knew DWTS was such a hotbed for scandal and not just Maksim Chmerkovskiy dating rumors?

Also, that's a pretty harsh diss, Camilla. Good pun, but harsh.

Late night host George Lopez made a joke this week implying that instant Dancing with the Stars favorite Kirstie Alley is a pig. It didn't go over too well.

On Tuesday's Lopez Tonight, he said, “She did a nice job,” after showing a clip of Kirstie and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. “Her little hooves tapping away.”

He then did a play on the classic nursery rhyme, This Little Piggy Goes to Market, before playing a clip of a pig squealing “wheeeee” riding in a car.

Having thought better of it, Lopez apologized last night on Twitter:

Not sure how one misjudges a joke in which one calls a woman a pig - not something they typically take kindly too - but it appears no harm was done.

Alley struck back at Lopez, writing: "lol...a drunk pig...hehe" and later, this:

"Don't worry about George's comments... just remember what happens to the big bad, drunk wolf... falls in a boiling pot of vodka. Piggy laughs."

Good one. This isn't the first such incident for Lopez, who made weight-related cracks about Bristol Palin ballooning on DWTS last season, too.

At 60 years old and not possessing the body type of, say, Kendra Wilkinson, underdog Kristie Alley immediately endeared herself to Dancing With the Stars fans.

The surprising part? She won over the judges last night as well.

Dancing With the Stars saved the best routine for last, as Kirstie's spirited cha cha with Maksim Chmerkovskiy shamed many competitors half her age.

"I'm doing this as a challenge to see how far I can push myself physically and still live," Alley - dubbed "G" for "Grandma" by Maks - joked beforehand.

Whatever she did, the rest of the field is on notice after this:
