Mark Vincent Kaplan Speaks on Britney Spears Recovery
Kevin Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, says that with the help of father Jamie Spears, Britney Spears is heading in the right direction.
But he urged restraint in saying the pop star is fully recovered.
"Jamie is doing a really good job," Kaplan said. "There was a situation and that seems to be stabilized. Does that mean she's cured? Of course not."
Kaplan noted that Spears' negative press has diminished noticeably, and that her successes - from her How I Met Your Mother role to reports that she is working again with former manager Larry Rudolph - are making news.
He calls her father Jamie Spears' many important steps to improve Britney Spears' well being and diffuse the struggling pop singer's once tumultuous lifestyle "very smart," adding that, "Obviously before [Jamie Spears] stepped in, it wasn't a question of what was going to happen - it was a question of when."
A healthy, happy Britney Spears is something that ex-husband Kevin Federline has been always yearning for, says Mark Vincent Kaplan.
As for his own professional interest in the Britney Spears custody case, which is no longer dominating Los Angeles' family court system?
"I look forward to the time when I can be bored," Mark Vincent Kaplan said.
When in Doubt, Use Old School Britney Spears Pics
We will give Star Magazine this much: It's been a slow couple of months for those of us who thrive on Britney Spears news and gossip.
That being said, this celebrity news magazine and others like it are stooping to new lows and going to new extremes to fill a sudden Spears void.
They claim Britney Spears and Kevin Federline had a "secret meeting" during Easter weekend. At this time, they decided to run away Maui.
K-Fed, who was in Las Vegas hosting his own birthday party that weekend while Britney was in L.A., has already denied this via his rep.
It gets better. Backing up the made-up story is a photo of Britney and Kevin on a beach, enjoying a relaxing getaway ... on their honeymoon in 2004.
What's more amazing? This isn't even the worst Britney Spears celebrity gossip reporting job of the week! That honor belongs to the great OK! Magazine, which features a Britney Spears photo from 2003 to bolster its cover story.
SLOW NEWS WEEK: With little juicy gossip out there, these celebrity news sources decided to bust out old Britney Spears pics and make some $h!t up. Standard.
Proving that they're really grasping at straws, a Star "source" also claims Brit bought K-Fed a $138,000 diamond watch during their fake tropical jaunt.
Yeah, right. We had already figured out that this whole Spederline reuniting story was about as real as Heidi Montag's rack, but come on now, Star.
At least if you had written that Britney bought the FedEx man a $25 Casio, we might have believed it and kept reading ... at least for a minute or two.
Kevin Federline Celebrates Birthday with Style, Class
Most of the time these days, he's best known as a doting father to Sean Preston and Jayden James. And his other kids Kaleb and Kori.
But on Friday night, Britney Spears' ex-husband took a break from parenting to ring in his 30th birthday at Pure Nightclub in Las Vegas.
Also known as Kevin Federline's home away from home.
A dapper-looking Federline - the subject of this week's Caption Contest at The Hollywood Gossip - said he felt "great" about turning 30.
Flanked by a group of 20 pals, including his family members and attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, Federline headed straight to his VIP table.
Also on hand? Ex-girlfriend and baby mama Shar Jackson!
K-Fed: A year older, not necessarily wiser.
Throughout the evening, K-Fed and his entourage sang along to tunes by Jay-Z, Kanye West and other hip-hop artists.
At one point, the DJs played Federline's own song "Lose Control," familiar to the club considering its music video was shot there in 2006.
Close to midnight, Kevin Federline danced on a couch by his table and held up a California license plate saying "FDRLINE" while drinking Jack Daniel's.
Later on, the FedEx man grabbed the mic for a rambling profanity-laced speech in which he encouraged everyone to have "a good time."
"I lost my voice at the craps tables and I lost all my money," he went on to say in a raspy voice, before a friend dragged him away.

Happy 30th Birthday to Kevin Federline
Kevin Earl Federline (born March 21, 1978) is a backup dancer, rapper, fashion model, and an occasional actor. Previously engaged to actress Shar Jackson, Kevin Federline is best known for his two-year marriage to pop singer Britney Spears.
That excerpt rom Wikipedia's official Kevin Federline bio just about sums up all you need to know about the glorious individual that is K-Fed, or since his divorce from Britney Spears, a man we have affectionately come to know as FedEx.Â
The former Mr. Britney Spears, Kevin Federline's career has taken off.
A memorable stint on the WWE, guest starring on One Tree Hill, releasing one of the poorest-selling albums in history, and getting paid a half million to mock himself in a Super Bowl commercial are just some of the highlights.
But despite the constant mockery he endures, and that he may be a talentless hack and self-promoting loser, Kevin Federline has been a very good father to Sean Preston and Jayden James. We mustn't forget this all-important fact.
So happy birthday, Kevin Federline. We will see you at da club (where you rake in a fat appearance fee) and we'll see your lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, in court.
When does your favorite star celebrate the anniversary of his or her birth? Which star is next? Confer with our celebrity birthday calendar now and see for yourself!
Cha-Ching! Mark Vincent Kaplan to Make $375K Off Brit
Britney Spears has been ordered to pay $375,000 of Kevin Federline's massive legal bills, according to court documents released Monday.
The scary thing? That's less than his attorney originally sought!
L.A. Court Commissioner Scott Gordon called the billing "reasonable," in part because "the actions of [Britney Spears] caused the majority of litigation."
Last week, the pop star's current lawyer, Stacy Phillips, complained that K-Fed's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, had over-charged Britney Spears, and asked that Federline be ordered to pay his own legal fees - at least in part.
This is a custody battle, by and large, and family courts have the power to order one party to pay for the other's fees, based on income and needs.

Mark Vincent Kaplan had sought half a million for his representation of the FedEx man so far, but Gordon knocked that number down slightly and ordered Britney to pay $375,000. Still not a shabby payday for the attorney.
Sadly for Britney Spears, it doesn't end there.
Britney's former divorce attorney, Laura Wasser, charged her $164,972 in fees for a span of 10 months as her lawyer. After Wasser quit, Spears hired Trope and Trope to rep her. On their watch, Britney lost custody and visitation of the kids.
Their bill for five months? $685,985.22!
Of course, two mental collapses and consistently bizarre and dangerous antics made it next to impossible for the Commissioner not to strip her of custody.
But come on, that's $685,985.22 better spent on Red Bull, potato chips, booze, blackjack, cars, hookers like Ashley Alexandra Dupre ... just about anything.
Kevin Federline, Jamie Spears to Run Restaurant
You thought the Britney Spears-Mel Gibson restaurant pairing was odd?
Try this one: Britney's ex-husband, Kevin Federline will reportedly join forces with her dad, Jamie Spears, to manage a Mexican restaurant in LA.
Britney Spears will apparently fund the operation. Jamie Spears is in charge of Brit's legal and financial affairs as her co-conservator as she receives treatment.
A source said that "K-Fed wants to take over a Mexican place in LA with him and Jamie as managers. The restaurant, called Casa Cordobes, has been a favorite of Kevin's for a while. He ate there with [Britney Spears]."
"Now the owner wants to retire he wants to run it. Kevin and Jamie get along well nowadays and Jamie is keen to get back into the restaurant game."

Kevin Federline and Jamie Spears: Business partners-to-be.
Doesn't sound like there's anything that could possibly go wrong with this business arrangement, or that there would be anything potentially awkward.
We'd sign off on this on two conditions:
- They make pregnant Jamie Lynn Spears the hostess?
- They keep Kevin Federline on the management side and out of the kitchen. Fool has been packing on the pounds of late has it is.
Kevin Federline Gets Fat Paycheck For Own B-Day Party
How far would you go to party Kevin Federline?
- You wouldn't under any circumstances
- If he happened to be at the same bar as you by chance, you'd say hello
- If there were no cover charge, maybe you'd check out his party
- You'd pay him $175,000 to make sure he shows
If you're Las Vegas' Pure nightclub, the answer is #4!
"Kevin is a big spender, and a draw for the crowds. So the money he gets is nothing compared to the money they make," a source tells the New York Post.
The former Mr. Britney Spears is being paid at least that much to host his 30th birthday party at the Sin City hotspot on March 21. Peep the invite!
Really? He's that big a draw? We apparently missed something in our two years in this business and many more as avid celebrity gossip fans...
Earlier this week, Britney's lawyers argued that she shouldn't have to pay for Kevin Federline's legal fees - as a court judge has ordered she do - because he's got more money than he claims. This doesn't exactly hurt her claim.
The former spouses are not entirely at odds, though, which is good. A family insider says that Kevin Federline is planning on spending a few days in Las Vegas, which might give his ex-wife a chance to spend some time with their kids.
"Kevin is hoping Britney will be able to have time with the boys for a few days while he's gone, but it all depends on how she is doing at the time," says the insider.
"Also, Kevin has to feel confident that (Britney Spears' father) Jamie will make sure the boys are watched over at all times while she is with them."
Even though he's leaving sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, behind, the aspiring rapper and actor won't be lacking for company.
Brother Chris Federline, who just celebrated his own birthday this week, will also be on hand for the party. Tremendous news there.
Kevin Federline May Appear on Broadway This Fall
If you thought Nicole Richie mulling an offer to appear on Broadway was a sign of the apocalypse (or at least Broadway abandoning all standards), get this:
Kevin Federline may soon make his debut.
A source says Britney Spears' ex-husband may be heading to New York City in September to make his Broadway debut in Legally Blonde, the Tony-nominated musical adaptation of the hit film starring Reese Witherspoon.
"He's so excited!" a source close to K-Fed tells Us Weekly.
Why wouldn't he be? Surely they pay in pot and Doritos.
A sometime actor, former backup dancer and aspiring rapper, Kevin Federline will test his song-and-dance skillzz in a trio of roles â" including the hot UPS guy.
"This is his chance to show the world what he can do," says a pal.
Now that he has full physical custody of sons Sean Preston, 2-and-a-half, and Jayden James, 18 months, they might join him in the Big Apple.
"This is his dream and he wants to bring the kids," says the insider. "Jamie and Lynne Spears promised to help him make it work."
K-Fed enjoys a good relationship with Britney Spears' parents despite a messy custody battle and a couple of massive meltdowns on her part.
A rep for the show says he is not scheduled "as of this time."
Britney Spears, Kevin Federline Spar Over Legal Fees
Britney Spears, who is worth an estimated $100 million, has been approved for a $1,500-a-week allowance, a judge rules on Monday afternoon.
Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz approved the hiring of two specialist attorneys to help the singer and her lawyers sort out her affairs.
One, Jorge Hernandez, will get a $25,000 retainer to be an around-the-clock consultant on all questions pertaining to the co-conservatorship.
The other, lawyer Tom Hansen, will receive $15,000 a month for his services as an entertainment lawyer consulting on Spears' entertainment contracts.
At a separate hearing, lawyers for Spears said that her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, should pay his own damn legal bills. In a manner of speaking, of course.
The court had previously ruled that Spears, 27, has to pay Federline's counsel, Mark Vincent Kaplan, "reasonable" attorney's fees.
He has billed over half a million so far.
Britney's attorney, Stacy Phillips, told a Los Angeles court commissioner that Kapla is only entitled to $150,000-175,000.
Phillips said that K-Fed should foot the bill, mentioning how the rapper once tipped $2,000 on a $365 bill while out dining.
Mark Vincent Kaplan, meanwhile, argued that he is worth every cent of the price due to the complicated nature of the custody case.
"Our fees for the experience and expertise for the practice level are far under market for the package you get when you hire me," he said.
"This is not a simple custody case."
Both Federline and Spears' father (and co-conservator) Jamie Spears â" who hit the golf course together over the weekend â" were present for the hearing.
"Mr. Federline answered two or three questions very cryptically and Jamie Spears was a little more elaborate," court spokesperson Allan Parachini said. "The judge has taken the fees arguments under consideration."
