As much as it pains us, we must give Kendall Jenner some credit.

The 14-year old half-sister of Khloe, Kourtney and Kim Kardashian responded this week to the controversy surrounding her recent photo shoot. Instead of getting on some high horse and telling the world to focus on more important issues (we're looking at you, Miley Cyrus), Kendall came across as mature and understanding of the situation.

"I am excited to be working as a model, doing what I love to do," she told People. "My entire family was very supportive, though my dad was a bit concerned at first, he knows that I am responsible enough that I wouldn’t do anything I wasn’t ready to do, or didn’t want to do.”

Kendall continued:

“Going into this shoot, it was never my intention to be provocative or too racy. It was a beach shoot, and I was wearing beachwear. I am happy with my age, and am not trying to rush into anything too soon. I look forward to all the milestones my teens have to offer - Sweet 16, turning 18, and so on.”

We still believe Jenner should wait a few years before donning so few items of clothing in a nationally-published shoot.

But at least she recognizes the reasons behind the scandal and acknowledges that she's barely even a teenager. Gotta give her - or the publicist behind this statement, really - props for handling the situation in such a straightforward manner.

Suddenly, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Momsen seem like mature adults, wearing clothing completely appropriate for their ages...

A couple days after new modeling shots of Kendall Jenner hit the Internet, photographer Nick Saglimbeni has released more pictures he recently took of the 14-year old.

Yes, 14-year old. That bears repeating over and over and over, as you check out the photos of Kendall below. They feature the young teenager in a string bikini, fishnet stockings and exposing cleavage that has no business being exposed...

On their blogs, half-sisters Kourtney, Khloe and Kim Kardashian have expressed enormous pride over their sibling's shoot. Writes Kim: "The whole family is so proud of Kendall. Soooo much more to come!"

It's unclear why these photos are cause for pride. Considering the Kardashians' connections, it's easy to hire a photographer and get the pics published. Moreover, any 14-year old can stand in front of a camera. There's no talent or hard work involved here.

There's simply horrible judgment by a family that cares more about attention than appropriate behavior.

Instead, that dishonor falls to Kendall Jenner and her most recent set of modeling photos.

The 14-year old half-sister of Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian signed a professional contract a year ago.

She posed for her first official shoot in January, bidding her childhood goodbye and wasting little time entering the world that has produced millions of dollars for her family, along with an equal number of critics who can't believe fans of these people actually exist.

As seen here, Kendall is doing her best impression of her older siblings, donning beachwear for photographer Nick Saglimbeni. Kim, naturally, sees nothing wrong with a 14-year old striking such poses.

"I am so proud of Kendall. She’s going to take over the modeling world... you just watch," Kim blogged last week. “She is truly an inspiration to all young girls out there... follow your dreams, work hard and your efforts will pay off.”

Right. Because Kendall clearly worked oh so very hard to accomplish this goal.

The youngin has made it clear she wants to emulate the careers of Kim and company - but don't get any ideas, Ray J. Put down that phone and put away that video camera. She's only 14 years old.

These shots of Kendall Jenner make the outfits worn by Miley Cyrus seem mature and appropriate by comparison.

It's official: Kendall Jenner is a model.

The 14-year old half-sister of Khloe, Kim and Kourtney signed a contract with Wilhelmina Models last summer and recently inked her first deal with clothing company Forever 21.

Some might say Kendall is too young to be thrust into the competitive world of professional modeling (we all saw both episodes of The Beautiful Life... right?), but at least the Kardashians are doing what they can to decrease unemployment figures.

Now, in another sign of the Apocalypse, 14-year old Kendall Jenner - the half-sister of Kourtney, Khloe and Kim Kardashian - is taking to the runway, kick-starting her modeling career with a print campaign for clothing company Forever 21.

"I’m glad I got to do it," she told Life & Style of the photo shoot. "I was nervous and excited. It was super fun. I’ve always wanted to model. I like being in front of the camera."

In that case, she was born into the right family.

Kendall added that her sisters have given her insightful advice. For example:

“Kim just tells me, ‘Work it.’ I want to emulate her career the most because she does all the modeling type stuff. This is what I want to do.”

Oh no. We really hope Ray J didn't read that quote.

Kendall and Kylie Jenner can have an extra serving of dessert tonight.

The little sisters of Khloe, Kim and Kourtney Kardashian will likely be rewarded for their actions, as the young pair made their family very proud this week when they spoke to E! News.

Taking a page out of the Kardashian playbook - i.e. use any occasion to make headlines of any kind - Kendall spoke to the network about future nephews and nieces.

"I know Khloé has always wanted to have kids, because when me and Kylie were little, she would babysit us... I know she'll be a great mom."

Experts on love and child rearing, Kendall and Kylie Jenner are being indoctrinated into the world of entertainment news and gossip.

When asked for her take on the speed with which Khloe met and married Lamar Odom, 12-year old Kyle - yes, 12-year old Kylie! - said:

"You can't control love. They're in love with each other. I think they're a great couple. I think it's going to last their whole life."

The key to the relationship, Kylie added, was the cootie shot she gave her sister a few weeks ago.

According to Kim Kardashian, there's one thing she loves more than attention:

Her sisters.

For that reason, the publicity hound is fighting back against a tabloid feature that she and her family may very well have put out there to begin with.

In the latest issue of Star, the magazine screams that Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian are "AT WAR!" The cover story goes on to detail the "catfights, jealous fits and trash talk" that go on between the siblings.

On her official blog, Kim denied all such accusations, writing: 

If my sisters and I have cat fights they are 100% playful, sisterly fights!! You've seen how we tease each other on the show, and how we joke around on Twitter... it's what sisters do!!! There's no war here, people! I'm so grateful to have my sisters around me and I know we'll always support each other no matter what!

Knowing the Kardashians enjoy tabloid coverage almost as much as they like sex tapes, would anyone be shocked if the family planted this story, simply to debunk it later on and then receive sympathy from fans?
