Like Katherine Heigl, pop star Kelly Clarkson is one of those rare celebs who's not afraid to say what's on her mind and answer interview questions honestly.

In a revealing new interview in Elle magazine, Kelly Clarkson confesses that she thinks she'd be a "horrible" mother, has never been in love, and doesn't necessarily want to get married.

Hey, Britney Spears is 0-2 in the marriage department. So maybe Kelly's brutal honestly, while unromantic, has something to it. Just saying.

And she doesn't stop there. The 25-year-old American Idol winner also opens up about her well-publicized disputes with her record label, saying that Clive Davis offered her $10 million to give up five tracks she wrote for her new album.

See interview excerpts below for more of Kelly's thoughts on being famous, her tumultuous childhood, and the controversy over her next album. Also, check out the picture of Kelly Clarkson below, in which she's looking downright Sanjaya Malakar-esque.

On not wanting children:
"My point of view is that I shouldn't be a mother at all, because I'd be horrible. I'm not willing to be that selfless."

On marriage:
"I'm not keen on marriage. I don't let many people in. Men come and go. Friends are what I care about."

THG NOTE: Hear that, Heidi Montag? Dump Spencer, pick up the phone and apologize to LC! Do it now, dammit!

On being famous:
"I could give a crap about being a star. I've always just wanted to sing and write."

On being ambivalent about her success:

"It is weird when a 12-year-old tells me I am their favorite artist. I'm always like, It's just because you're young and you haven't heard everybody yet. In time, I'll be weeded out. And that's cool. I know I'm a good singer, but I know who I am, too."

On her bad qualities:
"I tend to be early. I'm not patient. I have no tolerance for stupidity. I work too much. All my conversations revolve around my job. So I'm boring."

On never having been in love:
"I know people probably think I've been heartbroken, because of the stuff I've sung and written. I love my friends and family. But I have never said the words ‘I love you' to anyone in a romantic relationship. Ever. I am very old-school, conservative when it comes to relationships. Love is something you work at. It doesn't come easily. There are going to be bad days. You are going to have to work at loving someone when they are being an idiot. People think they're just going to meet the perfect guy. Don't be ridiculous."

THG NOTE: Except for those rare cases when Mr. Right (a.k.a. Simon Monjack) mysteriously appears at your door. And needs to get married ASAP before he gets deported.

On unflattering celebrity gossip articles and paparazzi shots:
"I'm fine with it. I just don't care. I don't wear makeup in public. I don't worry about what I'm wearing. Hell, I wore pajamas in high school."

On battling with industry executives over the release of My December:
"I've sold more than 15 million records worldwide, and still nobody listens to what I have to say. Because I'm 25 and a woman."

On declining an offer of $10 million by Clive Davis to ditch five of her songs for more radio-friendly picks of his choosing:
"I am a good singer, so I can't possible be a good writer. Women can't possibly be good at two things. I haven't lost my temper about it. It only drives me more. If your thing is to bring me down, cool. I'll just work harder."

THG NOTE: Like Katharine McPhee and countless others, Kelly has clashed with the bigwigs in the music biz. But she's emerged better for it. Take note of this Jordin Sparks, as you begin your own promising career.

Typically, this would involve candle wax, handcuffs and the closest male with a British accent - but the former American Idol champion isn't comparing herself to Calum Best, don't worry.

Instead, Kelly Clarkson is telling people that her record label, RCA, asked her to cover a song by a certain red-haired, loose actress.

Lohan: What a Freakin' Mess

"My label literally sent me a Lindsay Lohan track from her last album and wanted me to record it for my new album," the American Idol winner tells MTV News.

"And while I like Lindsay Lohan, like I'm cool with her and I think she sings the song well ... it's already been on an album. I don't care what pop star it is."

Clarkson says she was offended by the suggestion - and wants people to vote for her as their favorite Idol over Carrie Underwood.

"They were just sending me stuff that was like almost insulting. I'm like, 'You can't even find new songs? You don't want me to write my album but you're sending me hand me downs?' " she tells MTV News. "I ended up writing the entire thing with the people that I write well with."

Sounds like quite the storm brewing. Is this the sort of controversy Blake Lewis, Jordin Sparks or the winner of this year's competition will need to deal with in a few years?

Meanwhile, Kelly's new album was completed in January and My December will hit stores on June 26. Simon Cowell has already bashed it probably.

Kelly Clarkson may start getting tired soon.

Coming off a day in which we matched her up with Carrie Underwood in a battle of American Idol champions, now the talented singer is being put through another grueling battle. This time, celebrity fashion reputations are at stake.

Kelly Clarkson in Self

In the picture below, the Grammy-winning artist is standing next to former WWE Diva Stacy Keibler. And they're wearing the same outfit!

Apparently it's not just Vanessa Minnillo and Eva Longoria that shop at the same store.

So let us know, readers, which of these lovely ladies looks better? And which would be more successful: Keibler on the American Idol stage? Or Clarkson inside a WWE ring?

Before a new American Idol gets crowned in two weeks, we have a pressing question:

Who is your favorite American Idol winner of all-time?

Carrie on Idol

We'll assume that Fantasia, Ruben Studdard and Taylor Hicks aren't even in the running. And, remember, Chris Daughtry and Clay Aiken didn't actually win their respective seasons.

So this leaves two options for fans of the FOX reality show: original Idol victor, Kelly Clarkson? Or season four's champion, Carrie Underwood?

Each has picked up Grammy Awards, although only Underwood has picked up an All-Pro NFL quarterback. It's a close call.

Perhaps fans will want to wait for the new Kelly Clarkson album to come out in July before making a decision. But if you have a preference right now, let us know.

And, yes, we wish Katharine McPhee had won last year, too. Go blame The Soul Patrol for that one.

Ahhhh .... Kelly Clarkson!

Don't expect to see Gwen Stefani at the MTV Video Music Awards tonight - but if she decides NOT to boycott the event at the last minute, you might hear her scream one of the famous 40-Year Old Virgin quotes, made known by Steve Carell.

  • The Original American Idol
  • Gwen Stefani Image

Why would Gavin's more beautiful half attend not attend the festivites? Reportedly, she's still angry by how she was treated last year.

"She had a ton of nominations and was under the impression she would be taking home at least one award," an insider said. "But every award, except that lame best-dressed award, went to Kelly Clarkson, and every time Kelly won, the camera went straight to Gwen. She felt set up."

The Gossip isn't one to get in the way of a good catfight, but we hope Stefani appreciated being named Best Dressed more than this quote makes it sound like. After all, that's something not even Paula Abdul could come close to.

While Stefani's rep declined comment, rumor also has it that Gwen thought she'd be closing the show. Who did that honor go to instead? Clarkson.

With her new tour kicking off on June 30, pop superstar Kelly Clarkson is looking for ways to stay in shape. That's not an easy task when you have a super-busy schedule, but the Texas cutie and inaugural American Idol winner manages to get it done.

"I do kick-boxing, I run bleachers, I have to keep my endurance up or I won't make it through a show! My songs are marathons," Kelly told the Yahoo! Insider.

The Original American Idol

Her other secret to maintaining a hot bod? Banning soda.

"I was really bad with Cokes," Clarkson said. "I had, like, nine Cokes a day. Now, if I have soda, it ruins me. It almost tastes like acid."

She's so passionate about eating well that she's hooked up with Glacéau's vitamin water beverages on a new ad campaign - one designed to get kids to kick their soda and junk food habits. Clarkson remembers going to public high school and eating in the pizza and burrito cafeteria lines.

Nowadays, she's singing a different tune and encouraging teens to eat healthy by serving as a judge for the finale of "vitaminschool," a recipe contest for students.

The contest recently awarded a $100,000 college scholarship to a high school girl whose healthy school lunch recipe -- a chicken fajita burger on a whole wheat bun -- won top honor.

"Kids aren't paying attention, so why not give them a healthy option," Kelly said. "I have a lot of young fans, so that's why we teamed up. I realize there's a lot of people looking at me and if you have a voice, you might as well make it a positive one."

At 24, Clarkson has already won two Grammys, two American Music Awards and 11 Billboard Awards. Her "Addicted!" tour opens at the end of this month in West Palm Beach, Fla., and will hit 25 cities by August. She'll be singing smash hits such as "Behind These Hazel Eyes," "Because of You" and "Since U Been Gone," without any lip-synching, thank you very much.

We're looking at you, Ashlee Simpson.

"I just think that's ridiculous," Kelly says. "People will come up to me and be like, 'Why do you do two shows and then take a day off?' And I say, 'Because I'm a singer!' I won a singing competition. If you need to lip synch, if you're that ill, take a day off!"
