Ms. Independent is addressing Mr. Know It All in the following video.

Indeed, with her new album ("Stronger) scheduled for an October 25 release, Kelly Clarkson has released the first single off of it. It's another female empowerment track from the first-ever winner of American Idol, as she takes some ex-boyfriend to task.

This is an artist, remember, who does not hook up and who will gladly walkaway if you don't treat her well. Listen now:

We're just a couple months away from a new Kelly Clarkson album.

But you're mere moments away from listening to the first single off this CD.

The track is titled "Let Me Down" and we're not really sure if it fits into the way Kelly described the sound of the upcoming album. She recently said it was influenced by Prince, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow and Radiohead and "there’s a little bit of a country vibe/influence." Can you hear that below?

Kelly Clarkson returned to the show that made her a star last night.

Now in its 10th season, it seems hard to believe that American Idol crowned Kelly its first winner that long ago. Needless to say, she's been worthy of the honor.

Kelly and Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood are the only Idol artists to surpass 10 million in career album sales (Chris Daughtry is third with six million-plus).

On last night's results show, which also featured a performance by Rihanna, Kelly teamed up with rising country star Jason Aldean for a different kind of duet.

Here's Kelly and Jason collaborating on "Don't You Wanna Stay" ...

Kelly Clarkson will release a new album this year. Really. At some point.

But the first-ever American Idol champion has taken to Facebook and delivered sad news to fans: the CD won't be available until the fall.

“I recently found out that my album won’t be coming out until September," she wrote. "The album has been recorded, but I can’t release it until then. I realize that is a long time, but that’s the best time to release it apparently so I’m sorry for the wait, but I promise you it sounds great!”

Little is known about the upcoming album, but Clarkson has said it will possess a cover of Eric Hutchinson’s “Why Don’t You Try” and is “influenced by Prince, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow, Radiohead and there’s a little bit of a Country vibe/influence on a couple of songs.”

While fellow American Idol stars such as Carrie Underwood and Adam Lambert have produced a number of chart-topping, Grammy-nominated hits over the last year or so, we haven't heard much from Kelly Clarkson.

But it looks like that may soon change.

Even more importantly, it sounds like that will soon change. At the Night For Hope benefit concert in Nashville last week, Clarkson surprised fans with a rendition of "You Still Won’t Know What It’s Like." The single will be included on her new album, set for release in early 2011.

Give it a listen now and chime in: What do you think?

As Crystal Bowersox and company battle it out for the season nine crown, they should stop and give thanks to Kelly Clarkson.

If that singer had not gone on to a successful post-American Idol career, avoiding any major scandals in the process, it's likely that Idol would not be what it is today.

So fans should keep that in mind today, as Clarkson celebrates her 28th birthday. Send in your best wishes to this star and enjoy the photo montage we've published in her honor...

As if we couldn't love Kelly Clarkson any more...

The original American Idol woke up this morning and responded to Kanye West's outrageous behavior at last night's MTV Video Music Awards by taking to her official blog.

Kelly summed up our thoughts on the assholic Kanye perfectly, so we'll just let her take it from here...

“Dear Kanye, What happened to you as a child?? Did you not get hugged enough?? I think we’re all just curious as to what would make a grown man go on national television and make a talented artist, let alone teenager, feel like s—. I mean, I’ve seen you do some pretty s—ty things, but you just keep amazing me with your tactless, asshole ways.

Kanye the Ass

"It’s absolutely fascinating how much I don’t like you. I like everyone. I even like my asshole ex that cheated on me over you... which is pretty odd since I don’t even personally know you.

The best part of this evening is that you weren’t even up for THIS award and yet you still have a problem with the outcome. Is winning a moon man that much of a life goal?? You can have mine if it will shut you up. Is it that important, really??

“I was actually nominated in the same category that Taylor won and I was excited for her... so why can’t you be?? I’m not even mad at you for being an asshole... I just pity you because you’re a sad human being."

Amen, sister! Pink was less wordy, but equally vicious toward West. She Tweeted: Kanye west is the biggest piece of s*** on earth. Quote me.

As for Taylor Swift? The 19-year old cutie took the proverbial high road, simply saying: "I don't want to start anything because I had a great night tonight."

We'll start it for you, T-Swizzle. Choose a side in this feud, readers. Whose team are you on?

Look out, Kristen Stewart!

While you sneak away to concerts with Robert Pattinson and possibly kiss him on the lips, the original American Idol might be lining up to steal your man.

At a recent performance, Kelly Clarkson had just started to belt out a version of "I Want You" when a fan handed her a cardboard cut-out of the Twilight Saga hunk.

Ever the good sport, Kelly proceeded to serenade Rob... with feeling! She even got down onto the stage with him.

The audio isn't fantastic on the video below, but it's worth viewing just for the reaction of the crowd when Kelly utters the name "Edward Cullen." Complete and utter pandemonium ensues...

Think Kelly has a shot with Robert?

Kelly Clarkson may be comfortable with her weight, but Self magazine wanted her to drop a few pounds, apparently. A slimmed-down photo of Clarkson on the women's magazine's cover this month is causing waves online.

Lucy Danziger, editor-in-chief of the women's health magazine, is speaking out in defense of "retouching" the 27-year-old simply make her "look her personal best."

"Yes. Of course we do retouching," Danziger writes about the pic in a post on Self.com. "Did we alter her appearance? Only to make her look her personal best."

Calling Clarkson "the picture of confidence," Danzinger writes, "I think this photo is the truest we have ever put out there on the newsstand."

Did Self artificially slim down Kelly Clarkson?

But many have expressed disappointment and outrage over the digitally slim Kelly. And in the article itself, Clarkson defends her fuller figure.

"When people talk about my weight, I'm like, 'You seem to have a problem with it; I don't. I'm fine!,'" the original American Idol winner says.

"I'm never trying to lose weight – or gain it," she added. "I'm just being!"

This is not the first photo flap the singer has been involved with in the last year.

In January, Kelly Clarkson wrote on her blog that "they Photoshopped the crap out of me!" on her All I Ever Wanted album cover image.

What do you think of the retouching? Too far, or standard?
