Katy Perry has just dropped another music video, and "This is How We Do" throws it back stylistically to the 29-year-old star's "California Gurl" roots.

In the vide, we see the singer getting her nails done, singing karaoke and enjoying some ice cream all while wearing some rather outrageous outfits.

And if there's one thing we know about the tour de force that is Katy Perry, it's that she has amazing ... er, she loves her outrageous, food-themed outfits.

There animation in the clip evokes her emoji-tastic lyric video for "Roar," while much of it thematically harkens back to the 2010 smash hit "California Gurls."

You could even say it feels like you're being transported into a bizarre, albeit enticing video game inspired by Perry, which we would totally demo.

Heck, if there's a Kim Kardashian video game, how could this be worse.

Perry is pretty stoked over the release of the music video, posting a link to the release on her Twitter and captioning the tweet with some song lyrics.

While the hot dogs are being eaten and the patriotic cocktails consumed, you're probably going to want some tunes to groove to at your Fourth of July cookout.

Some musicians and bands out there are proudly shouting "Hey, we got your back!" Or, more appropriately, they've got your entertainment.

Over 75 songs exist which contain the word "firework" or "fireworks" in the lyrics, though not many of them are actually about fireworks. Or the Fourth of July.

Meh. Semantics, right?

We took the liberty of making you a Fourth of July playlist, featuring 11 songs titled "Fireworks." From Indie Rock to R&B, get ready to jam out before the skies light up with pyrotechnics:

Katy Perry has joined forces with her own record label, Capitol Records, to launch Metamorphosis Music, an imprint the pop star turned mogul will helm.

Perry also took to social media to ecstatically make the announcement, while also revealing singer-songwriter Ferras Alqaisi as her first signed artist.

Singing the newly signed crooner's praises on Twitter, declaring him "incredibly talented & soulful," Perry promoted his self-titled EP that she produced.

It includes their duet, "Legends Never Die" (below):

Ferras took to Instagram to do tout the deal as well, writing, "The secret is out! I've signed to my dear friend @katyperry's new record label Metamorphosis Music."

"Today is the day my EP is finally out and I'm so happy I get to share it. Let me know what u think!!! Also, catch me opening up for Katy on #ThePrismaticWorldTour starting June 22!"

Summer might not officially begin until June 21, but unofficially, the hottest season of the year is here. Bathing suits, sunscreen, and the beach are all calling our names.

You know what else this season needs? More... MUSIC. Songs of summer, to be exact.

What, exactly, IS a "song of summer"? Right now it's what every artist is trying to acquire: the most played song of the season that most ... well, reminds us of summer.

Our favorite warm-weather jams conjure up images of bodies of water, dancing, frozen and/or boozy drinks, and maybe even some lovin'. Preferably all of the above.

To that end, we've compiled a playlist of 21 songs of summer, comprised of #1 hits and hot songs we love that remind us of our carefree time in the sun.

Roll your windows down, turn your radio up, and cruise through this gallery ...

Musicians are forever pushing the envelope, honing their crafts, stretching their limits.

Or they're just trying to get as many #1 hits as possible in order to sell more records and make more money to buy big cribs with multi-car garages and basketball courts in the basement.

To that end, artists frequently collaborate with other artists to experiment with style and sound. Sometimes they cross the genre lines and what results is... unexpected.

Nearly an entire season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta was dedicated to Kandi Burruss' quest for songwriting credits in Country music and she teamed up with Sara Evans to make it happen.

Some of these collaborations are wildly more successful than others, but when rap meets country or when pop meets metal, it feels weird. So weird it's good.

Here are 11 weird musical collaborations that totally work. Get ready to groove!

Katy Perry and Juicy J - Dark Horse
Academy Award winner Juicy J's inclusion on Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" made the song sure to be a hit instead of a, well, dark horse.

A recent study of past and present pop music sought to rank the greatest singers of all time on the basis of their vocal range.

We think it's safe to say the results are... surprising.

Taylor Swift - #77
Taylor glammed up for the red carpet. Photos like this remind us why she's had so many boyfriends.

For example, if you can predict ahead of time which two crooners tied for the top spot, well then you, sir or madam, have quite the ear for music.

You should probably replace all three judges on American Idol and produce Caleb Johnson's first number one record.

In other words, you can't predict this list. No one can.

We've all got our ideas of what constitutes good and bad music and this list throws concepts like creative ingenuity, songwriting ability and stage presence right out the window and judges artists solely by the highest and lowest notes they can hit.

Katy Perry has never shied away from theatrics, and the singer obviously loves to go all out for her music videos, but in the clip for her new single "Birthday" Katy takes things to a new level by portraying five of the worst party entertainers that ever lived.

Don't be surprised to see Katy transitioning into feature films soon, as she demonstrates seriously impressive comedic acting chops playing: Goldie, Yosef Shulum, Kriss the Clown, Ace the Animal Trainer, and Princess Mandee, whose Twitter handle is way too long to reproduce here.

Yesterday's preview prepared us for Katy dressing as a clown and causing car accidents, but we never would've expected an 8-minute epic of a music video in which the singer performs a striptease for the elderly, eats a mouse, and describes herself as a "sh!t cake."

Yes, it really has to be seen to be believed.

Katy Perry left children in tears at a recent birthday party when she dressed up like a clown and went insane, she confessed to Jimmy Kimmel in a recent interview.

All in the name of her "Birthday" music video shoot. Not just for kicks.

She wanted to go a dramatically different route on "Birthday", she told Kimmel, because she was tired of filming such wonderful, sexual music videos.

Seriously. Enough is enough with the over-the-top, sexy productions.

She said she wanted to dress in the most unappealing way possible.

Perry was serious about the change in tone, sabotaging a real party dressed like a clown, attacking a dude with a piñata stick, and staging a scary car accident.

The hidden camera gag was shot at Knollwood Country Club outside L.A. this month. While she revealed the stunt on Kimmel, she didn't mention the crazy fallout.

Watch out! Katy Perry is ROARing about a social media phenomenon taking over the world. Oh yes, we're talking about the selfie.

Katy Perry says selfies are a disease and refused to take one for a fan this weekend at Coachella. She relented, but only after the fan agreed to be in the photo with Perry, and not without tweeting out a message to her KatyCats.

Katy Perry Selfies

A study recently found that selfie-taking is linked to increased narcissism and mental illness. In her mind, refusing to take the selfie and sharing a warning with her fans was probably a public service announcement, but we kind of think more pictures of Katy Perry in the world does just as much good.

It's true that a glance at Katy Perry's Instagram feed shows only a few selfies, but that doesn't stop her from being photographed while all glammed up and nearly naked for various magazines and music videos.

Katy Perry's just released video for "Dark Horse" is what a trip through what Ancient Egypt might have looked like... if you were on acid.

"Memphis, Egypt: a crazy long time ago..." reads the title card. Crazy is right.

It's like all her extras wandered off the set of the next Hunger Games movie. Katy must be representing whatever district handles naked snake wrangling. And pole dancing.

Which part is better: When she gets super mad over what appear to be crunchy Cheetos or when she turns the dude into sand so she can steal his bejeweled grill?

Or maybe Jiff the Pomeranian's cameo? Because nothing says "ancient Egypt" like a fluffy dog famous on the internet.

"Dark Horse," which features Academy Award winner Juicy J, is the third single of Katy's album Prism.

The video is quite a change from her goth-inspired Grammy performance earlier this year, though both are equally bizarre...
