Katie Stam was named 2009's Miss America.
This 22-year-old University of Indianapolis student became the first winner of this contesnt to hail the Hoosier State. The crowd ate up her rendition of "Via Dolorosa" during the talent portion of the beauty pageant. while she defined "glamor" as part of her interview session.
Stam began competing in beauty pageants when she was 15. For her efforts as Miss America, she earned $50,000 scholarship; she hopes to obtain a bachelor's degree in communications and become a television news anchor.
