Lady Gaga will sit down with ABC's Katie Couric for a TV special that will air three weeks from tonight. Its title is short, sweet and holiday-themed:

A Very Gaga Thanksgiving.

The special promises an intimate look inside the private life of the pop superstar, who will perform eight songs - including "Marry the Night," "You and I," "The Edge of Glory," "White Christmas" and "Lady and the Tramp" with Tony Bennett.

The audience: Her own friends and family.

"We all know Lady Gaga is a phenomenon. This is a chance to see more of who she is beneath the wild costumes and staged musical numbers," says Couric.

"She will impress you, delight you and surprise you."

The 90-minute special (November 24, 8 p.m. ET) will also feature an interview with Couric, who will sit down at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Manhattan.

At Gaga's alma later, the women will discuss the New Yorker's music, her relationships, her rise to stardom, her life in the spotlight ... and her love of deep-fried turkey and waffles, which she'll make with the help of chef Art Smith.

Katie Couric is going back to her roots.

The anchor is rejoining ABC for a news show that is still in development, she said in a statement today: "I'm very happy to be returning to the network where I began my career as a desk assistant in 1979."

"It is tremendously exciting to have creative freedom to develop my own show ... and to contribute to such a vibrant, innovative news division."

Since leaving the chair of the CBS Evening News last month after five years, Couric has been rumored to be developing a daytime talk show.

While the format has yet to be finalized, Couric is excited to get to work: "I can't wait to be part of this incredibly talented, visionary team."

Katie Couric's replacement on the CBS Evening News will be Scott Pelley, a veteran journalist and 60 Minutes correspondent, according to reports.

Pelley is the choice of CBS News Chairman Jeff Fager, who became Chairman in February on the condition he could decide who takes the desk.

He believes Scott is well-liked and respected by his bosses, and just as significantly, there really is no second choice who appeals to CBS bosses.

Couric is leaving the desk to do a syndicated show at the network, but may maintain a news presence. What do you think of her replacement?

Five years after taking the reins of the CBS Evening News, Katie Couric is moving on to other projects this summer, according to multiple news reports.

Couric’s contract with CBS runs through June 4.

A network executive told the news organization that Couric will launch her own syndicated talk show in 2012, on a channel that's yet to be determined.

Despite a wave of publicity when she initially left Today for CBS News in 2006, Couric’s ratings have never lived up to her reported $15 million salary.

Katie and CBS consistently trail Brian Williams of NBC and Diane Sawyer at ABC in viewership. The network has not officially confirmed Couric's exit.

“We’re having ongoing discussions with Katie Couric,” said CBS News spokeswoman Sonya McNair. “We have no announcements to make at this time."

"Until we do, we will decline comment on rumor or speculation.”

Updated reports say she's in serious talks with CBS, NBC and CNN, and that her reps are talking to ABC about a deal as well, but that's a long shot.

Katie's exit from CBS Evening News is "not 100 percent" but it's just a matter of time before Katie announces her departure in the coming weeks.
