In a rare interview, Prince William gave ABC News the clearest sign yet that he and his wife Kate Middleton are planning to try for a baby soon.

In an interview to mark his grandmother’s diamond jubilee - 60 years on the throne - the future king said starting a family is a top priority.

Discussing his military plans, Prince William, who will himself turn 30 next month (Kate Middleton turned 30 this winter), told Katie Couric:

"More importantly, I’d rather like to have children. That’s the key thing really."

"But I’m just very keen to have a family and both Catherine and I, you know, are very much looking forward to having a family in the future."

When asked whether there was anything he would like to announce, the prince said coyly: "You won’t get anything out of me. Tight lipped."

Fortunately, Couric didn't overtly ask about the recent pregnancy rumors.

William and brother his Prince Harry opened up during an interview at Clarence House in London for The Jubilee Queen, ABC's special series on her.

Katie Couric is back on morning television. For a week, anyway.

The former Today host, who left to anchor the CBS Evening News six years ago, will fill in for vacationing Robin Roberts on Good Morning America next week.

“Katie Couric is going to be sitting in this chair next to George Stephanopoulos,” Roberts said, confirming the report. “We’re all thrilled to have Katie.”

Couric’s ABC deal for a new syndicated daytime show includes ABC News duties, and she joins GMA when the morning show's ratings are on the rise.

For the most recent week, GMA averaged 4.73 million total viewers and a 1.9/12 among adults 25-54, compared to Today‘s 4.99 million and 1.8/14.

Couric tweeted of the pressure to keep it up:

“Serious pressure filling in for the fab @RobinRoberts! Rise + shine! Excited to be back on morning TV next wk, guest hosting @GMA w/ @GStephanopoulos.”

Katie Couric is back on the market.

The reporter and future talk show host has split with her boyfriend of five years, entrepreneur Brooks Perlin. The New York Post first reported the break up.

The couple - who met at a 2006 fundraiser for cancer research - were "at different stages in their careers," according to a friend of the ABC correspondent, adding: "The split was inevitable."

Couric's husband, Jay Monahan, died of colon cancer in 1998. He was 42.

Couric will debut her new talk show on ABC in May, while she hosts a two-hour year-end special on December 15, looking back at various newsmakers from 2011. Looks like she can now include herself in that group.

At Gaga's alma later, the women will discuss the New Yorker's music, her relationships, her rise to stardom, her life in the spotlight ... and her love of deep-fried turkey and waffles, which she'll make with the help of chef Art Smith.

Kate Gosselin returned to TLC Monday night with an new episodes of Kate Plus 8, but she may have competition in the giant family reality TV genre.

Get ready for Katie Plus 80!

During a Tuesday night visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live, Couric, who just left the desk of CBS News after five years as anchor, gave us a sneak peek of her new reality show ... which is a joke, of course (and unfortunately) ...

While we won't be seeing Katie catapulting spaghetti and meatballs at a giant group of kids anytime soon, she is developing a new show with ABC.

Below is video of Katie Couric's final minutes as anchor of CBS Evening News. Her exit was announced earlier this spring, and her last broadcast was Thursday.

There is speculation that Couric is in "advanced negotiations" and nearing a deal with ABC for a syndicated talk show, which CBS has the right to match.

Couric's successor at CBS Evening News, Scott Pelley, starts June 6. Here's Katie's final sign-off from the news desk she first took over five years ago:

CBS News' Katie Couric officially confirmed what we all knew was coming today:

She is leaving CBS News.

Couric Pic

"I'm really proud of the talented team on the CBS Evening News and the award-winning work we've been able to do in the past five years in addition to the reporting I've done for 60 Minutes and CBS Sunday Morning," she told People.

What does the future hold for Couric exactly?

"In making the decision to move on, I know that the Evening News will be in great hands, but I am excited about the future."

"I am looking at a format that will allow me to engage in more multi-dimensional storytelling," she says, though when and where are "still being discussed."

There is still an offer on the table for Couric to stay at CBS with a syndicated talk show and a role on 60 Minutes, but they're not the only interested party.

Katie Couric and Matt Lauer were back together today, ON Today, if only for a day. The latter interviewed the former, who left the NBC show five years ago.

The CBS News anchor, who's rumored to be leaving her post, seemed less than 100 percent sure of that this morning when asked about her career plans.

Matt, who's also talking about a job change (some think he's just posturing for a big payday), spoke with his former co-anchor about her new book as well.

Here's Katie talking to Matt about The Best Advice I Ever Got and more:

Katie Couric's replacement on the CBS Evening News will be Scott Pelley, a veteran journalist and 60 Minutes correspondent, according to reports.

Pelley is the choice of CBS News Chairman Jeff Fager, who became Chairman in February on the condition he could decide who takes the desk.

He believes Scott is well-liked and respected by his bosses, and just as significantly, there really is no second choice who appeals to CBS bosses.

Couric is leaving the desk to do a syndicated show at the network, but may maintain a news presence. What do you think of her replacement?
